    Thats crazy ingenious to add the polymer to the steel mag so you dont have to switch out the mag release. Personally, I think PSA is giving Shield Arms a run for their money AND they can actually manufacture them in huge amounts unlike Shield.
    They'll sell fast if they can prove their reliability.

    33 year Glock user and armorer. First, no crisis on the capacity. 10 rounds of 9mm ammo would normally be enough to deal with most threats excepting maybe multiple attackers are with hi-cap firearms. As far as the 15 round mags go, I have 12 S15 mags (all gens) on hand and never experienced a single stoppage from any of them and am part of a professional group of 10 instructors and law enforcement officers/deputies who carry the G43X/48 exclusively with S15 mags. Between us, we have now accumulated over the 100,000 round count with only a handful of ammo related stoppages far below the general stoppage criteria many depts have in place. That being noted, I readily recognize there have been issues with the S15 mags but there are a multitude of reasons these stoppages have occurred. The primary focus of mag to gun fit interfacing is of the biggest concern as I have had a number of people bring their G43X/48 pistols to me and we did find issues with function but interestingly, those mags worked flawlessly in my personal and test guns. Here is the reason why, most are unaware that the G43X/48 frames made stateside have had a lot of variances in the frame geometries which have been known to cause a slew of issues but in the case of the S15 mags, one frame may demonstrate more play between the mag and frame than others. The way Gaston Glock designed the original mags was that they would expand when fully loaded as to create a reasonably tight fit with the frame but then be easy to remove (note: the first gen mags for the original P80 and G17 were not drop free on hitting the mag release). So OEM mags are not known for having a loose fit when loaded. Hence why Gen 3 S15 mags have the added warts on the back of the mags to assure tighter fit to mitigate frame variations.
    As far as the PSA mags, seen a mix of luck with them but in my tests they worked fine. The key is Test Firing no matter what your gear may be.

      I just commented on this... There's a gunsmith on CZcams who mainly does ARs but he did a video on this dice his wife carries a 43x, she wanted the capacity, and he didn't wanna install a metal mag catch for the S15 mags... His video showed the PSA mag lips catch on to the slide release when being inserted into the firearm... Now as you say, since there's intentional play there, not all 43Xs will have this issue but it was really informative to see his issue and his simple fix of buffing and filing the PSA mag lips... In his video, he shows how the PSA mag would do this instead of just some subjective whining, and being a professional armorer like yourself, he goes over it step by step so normal idiots like myself can see it properly... I'm the idiot for forgetting his channel but I'm sure if you looked up "PSA micro dagger mag in Glock 43x" you'll see it... Ok I looked it up... "School of the American Rifle" is the channel

    I put off buying PSA micro dagger mags until this past weekend because I spent a fortune on shield arms mags that did not work reliably. Shield did try to narrow the problems down, but every time I was having to test him with another 1 to 200 rounds, and that was getting really expensive just to try to make a magazine work. Over the past month or so, these PSA mags look pretty good. If they are flawless for me, I will EDC them. Or, I mean, EDC one and carry an OEM as a back up. If they don't work perfectly, I may very well just go back to my Glock 26 with the 12 round mag pinky extension and be done with all the experimenting.

    • @charlesj.6563
      @charlesj.6563 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@Fractal_blip That is a difficult question to answer. To a degree it depends on whether you prioritize the ability to conceal the pistol or the ability to shoot the pistol as well as possible. I can conceal either models and I can shoot either of them well. The G26 conceals a bit easier and the G19 shoots a bit softer. Your best bet is to try both and see which one appeals to you. I tend to carry the 26 more than the 19. Good luck with your decision. You can’t go wrong with either choice.

    The PSA mags are a good choice, but they too have some production issues with some units that have to be addressed. The Gen 3 S 15's have taken care of their issues except for those Glock units whose mag wells are way far out of spec. But with th eS15's you must put in a steel mag catch/release whereas the PSA mags need the poly mag catch which allows you to continue using your OEM mags.

    There was another CZcamsr that showed some modernist you can do to the mags to make them work.I forgot the name but I'm sure it's easy to find. Part of the issue that he showed was that the shell casing was just barely catching on the top forward edge of the mag. If the spring is weak, the shell will catch more easily. The other issue with the PSA mags is that the plastic on the side catches on the slide release. They may have fixed these issues by noe, but its a couple things to look for it you're having problems.

    The capacity of the 43x was extremely underwhelming for its size. When the shield arms mags came out to attempt to fix that issue it came with WAY to many caveats like wearing down the mag catch, reliability issues, that made the 43x a no go for EDC. When the dagger micro came out I thought it was going to be the same story with unreliability and mag catches but it looks like they nailed it. 15 rounds in a compact carry. PSA is creating such a low barrier to entry for citizens to defend themselves and its very commendable.

Check-Mate made Beretta M9 Mags for the US Govt. contract for years you have to have USA made companies for any contract for the US Govt. Mecgar can not be in the M9 for those contract so Check-Mate was award the contract. I don't know were PSA is having there mags made could be a GREAT company. You can trust Shield mags for carry Check-Mate makes Kimber mags also and the Sig P365. The reason Sig has mags made there is Conan the President of Sig use to work for Kimber. How do I know my friend Dennis was the custom shop manger for Kimber for years told when Conan left to be President of Sig he coped a lot of stuff from Kimber. Sig mags maybe not all but P365 are made by Check-Mate fact. Also I have a Ramm Tactical trigger in my 43x and Karl the owner his personal carry gun is 43x/Shield Mags. Was a bad decision for them to stick with polymer magazines from the start, because the thick walls reduce capacity... and they also had Zero mag compatibility issues, because the mags were single stack for the G42 and G43.
