    I checked the inside of the mag for any potential rough spots prior to taking it to the range. I just used my finger to feel... and then used a non-aggressive precision file from a set I got from Harbor Freight to gently file anything that wasn't perfectly smooth, being careful not to change any contours. Also, touched up afterward with some super fine 1200 grit sandpaper and ran a rag through to remove any particles. Super smooth operation now!

    All of mine have fortunately run flawlessly (regular magazines, not slick). I disassembled them all when I got them to check for those very same issues and they were clean. Absolutely bone dry, however. A little light Remoil and they're smoother than silk.
    Fantastic tutorial video though!

    Wrapping the sand paper around a chopstick or pencil helps with the internal part of the mag. I'd also say 100 grit is too rough. You want to start with at least 320 or 400 grit and finish it off with 800-1000 grit especially on that polymer.

    • @BigTimberLodge
      @BigTimberLodge  Před 10 měsíci

    I had a burr inside the mag on the front where some black coating has torn causing me to only be able to load 2 rounds.
    I used a micro file kit and solved the problem. It’s a QC issue for sure.
    I love em but because of this QC issue I will only trust my life to the factory mags when it comes to carrying 😢

    All of my psa micro 15 round magazines are ftf between the 9th and 12th round and it’s plastic spews from molding the followers dragging on. You can see it no problem when you disassemble the mag. Sand it cut it with an exacto knife I’ve used a bronze bore brush with a drill and it works fine and they function flawlessly after that.

    Have 2 PSA Micro slick for a Glock 48. When I got them having seen this video I took them apart and every thing looked smooth and finished with no burrs visible. Today I took them to the range and had multiple failure to feed on every loading of both magazines. After 250 rounds I gave up. I call PSA and because I am over 30 days I can't get my money back but had to fill out a form for warranty service. I got an automated reply stating after reading my complaint they will get back to me about what to do about the warranty. I saw on their website they are out of stock of these magazines. I have a pretty good feeling I am going to get screwed. I think this answers the question why Glock only has 10 round magazines for the slim line series.

      @BigTimberLodge  Před 10 měsíci +3

      Very interesting, I wonder if there is something there about the micro slick finishes having more issues than the standard or if it is a numbers issue. I've been having issues with it sometimes feeding incorrectly, where the round is part way fed and partway not, and the action remains open. It stays stuck in the position until I remove the mag and rack the slide several times to force the round out.

      @BigTimberLodge status report!!! First off, thank you so much for this video. I took apart both of my mags and saw that there were some polymer sticking out of the injection areas. I was able to sand it down with 120, 220, and 1000 grit (to smooth it out). Afterward, I added some oil to lubricate it. That was Friday when I did this. Today, I got back from the range. I put 260 rounds through both mags with various ammo. Ranging from hallow points to FMJ's, both 124 grain to 115 grain with no failure to feed. The slide was able to lock back after the last round. It was a good day at the range! So, thank you again for this helpful video, I hope other people will find this a useful solution as I did. Take care!

      The issue with mine was that the rounds get stuck at the edge of the magazine when you push them forward by hand. I think it's due to uneven pressure coming from the spring.
      I tried doing this technique and now sometimes the spring won't come all the way up, and the rounds will be stuck deeper inside the magazine. I have to hit it and move it around and then it will eventually come back up.
