LOL "cant make it hooking at it, cant make it throwing it straight at it" is so fucking me.
Me too! I'm a lefty, and if I throw to the target it hooks right, but if I start it to the left it stays straight. LOL
The way the first guy said THATS A LOSER
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
he didn't say that to the bowler.
@@Adrimartja oh well
@@AdrimartjaStill funny 😭
@@Adrimartjawell obvs but it was still funny
Those gutter balls are brutal. I remember when I first started bowling and I threw a gutter ball, it was devastating for a 12 year old.
I was bowling in a Beat The Champ qualifier in Buffalo late 80's and a bowler on the pair beside me had the first 11 strikes. The twelfth shot went in the ditch 😢. He was a local and everyone, including himself just laughed. Not his first time. He still made the show!
Worst part is that AJ Johnson threw all those gutter balls and still won
Mika missing the 10-pin at the US Open still hurts to watch.
no joke. That tournament is still one of my favorite bowling moments from the PBA. I remember watching it LIVE and I was just in shock
No doubt really thought Mika was going to win it - Duke did what he had to do make Mika work for it. Overall both are great bowlers no matter what.
Watched it live while bowling in a tournament. I was absolutely gutted for him.
"HE MISSED IT! HE MISSED IT! HOW IN THE EFFING HELL DID HE ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN??! His parents must be changing their identities as we speak."
I like how when a gutterball's thrown, the crowd goes silent like somebody just died.
that would be because something did die
It feels way worse than a miss free throw or a missed extra point attempt.
1:25 shes looking at her phone list to see who shes gonna hook up with after she dumps dude
A few weeks ago I threw a gutter ball at a full rack. Ball just curved off like crazy. It was embarrassing. Then just this past weekend, in a championship match on tv, the top seed opened his game… with a gutter ball! He recovered nicely, but now that I’ve seen a top rank pro do it I don’t feel so bad
If you think one gutter ball is bad...try TWO...in the SAME frame on national TV! Happened twice that I know of, to Marshall Holman in 1990, and Justin Hromek in 1994.
0:52 very painful. Mika's gutterball at last throw cost the US Open Title to Norm Duke
2:17 an instant karma for Ciccone. He was laughing before miss the spare chance. Because of his missing the throw for a spare, their opponent got the champion title
3:27 shocking fail. Del Ballard needs only 7 pins to beat Pete Weber's 213 point & got the champion title. But, his last throw hits the gutter. Because of that, Del Ballard cost the champion title to Pete Weber
You're not very socially adept are you? That was obviously a nervous laugh.
Ciccone is laughing because he’s nervous lol not directed at anyone else, not sure how karma applies there
@@stratocaster0842 I'm sorry for my negative thinking. Thanks for your correction
@@budiantopratamahartono9573you should edit your comment aswell
i read that and in my head i envisioned a drunken russian telling me this
Absolutely love your channel! Nobody has that good compilations of Bowling videos like you. Thanks :)
the fact johnson had all those gutters and still won is insane to me
Never seen a pro miss a 5 pin before, and Randy Peterson of all people.
Andrew Anderson missed it on TV this year at the TOC
I DONT BELIEVE IT! I DONT BELIEVE IT!
@@Chicken_o7 To be fair, I'm pretty sure Anderson had already given up at that point, Randy hadn't.
Loved It!! Can’t Stand Him On The Mic!!
A pro missing a 5 pin is a Del Ballard moment . . .
The one announcer, "Oh my"!
That was hilarious.
Pretty sure I could miss any of those, too.
When bowling a few weeks ago, I actually made a spare when I had a 'split' (not a 7-10 split, I think a '7-6 split'). I was wondering how rare it is for even pros to make this shot successfully.
Those commentators are absolutely savage
I'm not sure about that. A lot of them were saying "In the channel..." which doesn't sound so bad compared to "Gutterball!"
I think Bo Burton's comments about Randy Pedersen's missed 5-pin at the 1994 Firestone in real time were probably nicer than what Randy has said about it since 😜
This is how i felt at the alley last night lol. I mean game 3 was good I had 6 strikes, 2 turkey, but all the games after i hit everything but pin 7 and 10, or just 10
1:35: The old saying when I was bowling 35 plus years ago, was "Nobody misses a five pin"...... I did once in a while. Lol.
One of the strangest balls that I have ever thrown was the one that I threw went towards the right edge of the gutter
(almost a gutter ball ! ) and it traveled way down the alley and at the last second it hooked left and knocked down
eight pins , leaving the one and two pins . I call that kind of ball thrown as a "rail rider" ! We had a company bowling
team and one of the teams was named "THE RAIL RIDERS" ! This was not the team that I was on .
Happens to me on Wii bowling ALL THE TIME!!
That last one at the end seeing pete weber win that match from stupidity because decided not to throw it straight, we'll never know why he didn't throw the ball straight.
In the PBA showboat doubles either later on in 91 or in 92 (after the infamous gutterball), when Ballard and Benoit won it, Ballard went up to Benoit on the fill shot and told him *Throw it down the middle!!*.
He had faith in his shot and the prevailing attitude was go with what got you here. The attitude changed quickly after that shot.
I miss the old PBA when you could see the entire bowling alley
Thank YOU!! I needed this today.
0:05 - "Oh my god, that's a loser"
The guy has a name, damn.
1:25: “well there goes the Diamond necklace he promised me. His next many months are gonna be miserable”
Bro Mika’s shank into the gutter in 2011 was actually sad
The popping noises as their fingers leave the ball are killing me lmfao
Lady looked like she was considering divorce at 1:24. That was the, “you cant come home drunk and miss spares” face 😂😂😂
The way the crowd goes dead fucking silent sometimes is wild. Not even a reaction of disappointment. Just complete silence.
Those gutter balls after spares are infuriating. It's as though converting on the previous frame was all for nothing. Happened to me plenty of times.
I'm laughing at the part where the guy falls to the floor when he missed the pin 😅😅😅😂😂
That first "NO" reminds me of the River City Relay.
The nerves must have gotten to them. Especially when a major title is at stake. Being on national TV 📺 makes you much more nervous.
Missing the single pin has to be the most deflating play in sports. Only thing worse is missing a tap in putt
You could add Jason Belmonte's blunder today to this list
Spin is a tricky topic in bowling and in physics. I once bowled 10 strikes to open a game then preceded to open-frame out.
Heh heh heh heh 😅
HEH HEH HEHEHE!😆
I'm sure there have tons of people who choked on the 11th ball before. Nerves are real.
just played some wii bowling and this pops into my feed 🤔
Think of it this way. Even the greatest home run hitters in baseball had their share of strike-outs too. And many of those strike-outs were in clutch situations as well.
Quite different since home run rates are only 10% for the best hitters ever. And strikeout rates are often 20-30%. You're not expected to home run, but you're a hero if you do. In bowling, you're expected to strike.
@@panner11 But if bowlers strike, then how can they bowl if they're walking the picket line? :P
For those who have never bowled > 200 before, let me explain how this works.
When you bowl the 1st nine all strikes, when you get the ball back for the 10th frame, the ball with have somehow, someway become made of pure osmium. It will weigh 174 pounds, or eighty kilos for those you that don't use Freedom Units. You may well throw it down the lane and keep that 1st ball on track. Maybe even the 2nd one. By the 3rd shot, the one shot needed to close out a perfect game, you will not only be fighting off a ball that has somehow acquired the density of a goddamned neutron star, but also your heart will be pumping blood at the same rate that water flows through the mighty Mississippi.
Cringe, try hard comment
I miss Mika K he was a monster
Just saying, the 5 pin should always go down after the first ball. It’s behind the head pin for crying out loud.
Relax 😂😂😂
It usually does
Seeing the 1 pin misses makes one wonder, why don't they learn rolling straight to get those stragglers...
Impressive how the ball makes a curve to the other side :0 cool
I'm sorry, but AJ Johnson hitting 3 gutters in a match will always be hilarious. Especially since he came back to win due to Butters fouling twice. xD
That match was whack
The Del Ballard gutter ball has to be the worst.
What they consider terrible shots, most of us would consider good shots
Love the video padding minute 40 in
I wish someone had video of the 1983 Southern California Open when Don Genalo needed 7 pins on 2 balls to win the title, left the Greek church, did the math wrong, and threw the spare shot in the gutter on purpose to lose by 2 pins.
The old infamous del Ballard gutter shot when he needed a 7 count
Why Ballard didn’t just throw it straight then is beyond me . . .
I remember watching this on TV when it happened. I'd never seen a pro bowler do that. Also, you could see that he was just sick about it.
The obvious is Bo and Chris, but I just love the old telecasts of the 80s and 90s. Before they put names back on the back of shirts and made the announcing like the WWE.
That 4 out that rash did. I have a friend who did that and got the other 11 strikes for a 252 lol
What talented athletes!
😂😂😂😂 I'm laughing at the beginning part of the video
Me too!
Anyone who bowls at the "fun" level or better knows that some days you just don't "have it"
All of these were painful to watch. But 3 gutter balls. The absolute worst luck ever
They need to make lanes wider so that bowlers can hook more without going into the gutter.
That would be interesting
I think they've tried things like that
Poor Marshall Holman, 2 gutters & a crowd reaction, when you just pull the plug off from the television.
omg missing the center pin is the worst pain
i rather gutter than miss my pin 5😭
I enjoyed this video
I was almost going to be mad that you didn't include the Ballard Ball. But spoiler. It was the last one.
Those worst misses are my best shots
I've ditched it b4 in a money match, opponent thought I did it on purpose, I threw a strike for the spare n won the match barely.
i like Kawazoe p
I love the "POP!" noise when they let go of the ball 🤣
Also, why try and hook so much and so close to the gutter if you can just throw it straight down 😅
Has to hook so it can go into the pocket a certain way. Even if you throw it straight into the pocket with bo hook, there’s a good chance that the ten pin or some other pin will stay up
Hook/spin = action - changes the way the ball strikes the pin, therefore changing the angles the pins fly at. More hook/spin and power = more force flying around down the end
The storm evo program sent me
The funniest one is at 1:40
2:15
I like to bowl. Where I bowl we have a saying,, " when it's recreational, enjoy the spare. When it's competitive, if you miss the spare, get punched in the head."
0:26 I’ve done the same thing
I still have no idea how @1:04 happened 😮
I wish I was as human as these guys are.
I make bad throws like this 10 times a game, and they make it once and everyone acts like they've brought shame on 12 generations of their ancestors
I really don't understand why bowlers try to hit 1 left pin with such a strong throw. Just bloody throw it lightly and precisely, the pin will fall trust me.
HOW can they miss a single pin and at 2:26 is HOLY COW! how can they miss every single pin?
It's call choking
Where’s Dave Wodka’s gutter from 2012?
Some of the best haircuts I tell ya
Aj johnson 3 gutter in the first 4 frames?
You can not even blame the first guy for that 8-10, it sucks
dont throw in that exact way!
When you spend your entire career aiming to curve the ball as much as possible, suddenly its impossible to bowl straight at 1 pin./s
No
Not an accurate statement at all
Sarcasm I’m sure…
Well you just proved that you’re not a bowler, nor do you know anything about the game.
No
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOUSE AND SPORT SHOTS! Lmao. Most of those wouldn’t have even happened if it was an average house shot. Lmao. 😅
Sport shots are REAL
I myself am a bowler and I had painful misses before
I have played this 2 times in my life and I've got 5 pins like 10 times.
I don't know who the woman at 1:24 is, but I feel bad for her.
This makes me happy as an amateur...
Spare shooting has gone way down in recent years. Now It's all about how many strikes can I string together
They should put up gutter guards.
my toxic trait is thinking i could do this with a month of practice
Nah man... they’re aliens from Mars. You just wouldn’t understand...
Walter Ray with the flattest shot I've genuinely ever seen.
Every single ball Chris Barnes throws is flatter.
PDW left the 5-7-10 but I think it was on a fill shot.
I know these are pros, but as someone who sucks ass at bowling this video feels like a personal attack.
I needed no "proof"
They miss because they insist on bowling curve balls when aiming for 1 pin... if they learnt to bowl straight, it wouldn't happen.
Was anyone under the impression that bowlers aren't human?
Only Pete Weber
It's "Ernie" or "Big Ern"...😅
I did 297 I failed in the last shot 😔 and I cant prove it.
They're so dramatic 😂
Why in the hell would a pro hook it wide right to pick up a 7 pin? Coast-to-Coast. That's astoundingly stupid. No wonder it's on this list.
EJ Tackett of all people! On a house shot, sure, it's easier to throw it to the desert and watch it go. But yeah, that was puzzling.
How is EJ Tackett a pro?
I was expecting these to be way worse. Like where are the straight up gutter balls on the first throw?
Edit: I guess they’re in the second half
guess im more human than these pros
