400 seats is a psychological play by bjp to divert the discourse towards changing the baseline of how many seats bjp is going to win rather than discourse being about whether bjp is going to win or not. I thought Shahzad and Paracha sahab would have understood this. 400 plus seats was never a realistic goal which indians on the streets also know.

I salute these geniuses for creating a strawman on today's India.
Their argument is: Most Indians think that they built space ships and with the Hindu pride they want to oppress other religions. And Modi is somehow responsible for all this. Then, South India does not vote for BJP and instead votes for Left. To top it all, Hinduism didn't exist before 18th century.
    Are you kidding me?
The reality, however, is: Most Indians don't think like that. If you are smart enough to think, Indians can think for themselves too. And how can polytheists impose their religion on others when they don't have the concept of supreme god and are even open to the idea of atheism? The conflict between Hindus and Muslims is ongoing for a long time and it has its own history and nuances. To see that conflict through this narrow worldview and claim that it is Zia's Pakistan is absurd. If that were the case, why don't you see a single Zoroastrian, Jain, Buddhist, or even atheist facing religious persecution here.
Do you know anything about South India, its own diversity, its own political cults etc? Do you know anything about East India? Then going on and making such sweeping statements about a country of over a billion people. Really?
For god's sake, get out of your bubbles. Talk about nuances. Understand the world better. And then have educated opinions. If not, then I am pretty sure you would label me as some RSS, BJP (even though you don't know the difference between the two) troll and live on happily in your bubbles.

1:12:14 Nadeem says even if Modi gets same number of seats as last time, it will be a failure. Really? Third consecutive victory with a majority is somehow a failure?
The ab ki baar char sau paar was a naara. Even the naara referred to NDA (which is the larger alliance with BIP as focus), not BJP alone.
Can Nadeem or any Pakistani point out a SINGLE policy of Modi government which discriminates on the basis of religion? What Modi has done is ending the appeasement policies of congress to consolidate Hindu vote. After decades of Muslim vote consolidation, there is a response by Hindus by way of some degree of Hindu vote consolidation. Modi wants to bring uniform civil code which means end to separate personal laws based on religion. That is secular, not communal.
He says Modi’s policies are backfiring. Can he explain exactly how? What metrics or markers has he observed that lead him to that conclusion? India’s economy, foreign policy, defense are stronger than ever. Communal violence is at its lowest ebb in independent India’s history. 250 million people have been pulled out of multidimensional poverty. India’s startup ecosystem is on fire. Digital India has visibly improved lives by reducing corruption and improving government interface with public.

I appreciate Nadeem F. Paracha for his clarity and genuine persona while also recognizing the limitations in his analysis, particularly his focus on class struggle. An important aspect of political analysis is: the multifaceted nature of voter motivations and societal dynamics.
Paracha's perspective, rooted in class struggle, often overlooks the fluidity of social mobility and the various non-class-related factors influencing political behavior. For example, in India, the reasons behind voting for a leader like Narendra Modi are diverse and complex. They range from developmental aspirations and economic growth to cultural pride and religious sentiments. These motivations reflect a broad spectrum of individual and collective interests that go beyond a single narrative of class conflict.
Paracha overlap between analysis and wishful thinking points to a common issue among analysts: the challenge of maintaining objectivity.
This nuanced understanding can help in appreciating the depth and complexity of political landscapes, recognizing that a single narrative often cannot capture the full picture.

    Hinduvata with Modi = popular
Hinduvata without Modi = No Go
There are layers in Hindu religion, the secularist (read pseudo Secular) took advantage of the same, ruled by appeasement of enough populace abt 30%.
Hinduavta partly united the Hindus and the present dispensation is ruling with about 37% of votes enough for first past the post system.
In South of India they have sizable presence in Karnataka and gaining ground in Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, may not translate in immediate gain of seats in Parliament.
India is a complex country and Hinduavta may galvanize the core BJP voter 20-25% which is not enough to win you Parliamentary election.
Hinduavta in my opinion is overrated, after 10 years of incumbency if the opposition had credible Prime Minister ial face, 2024 would have been a closer election.
I again reiterate HINDUAVTA WITHOUT MODI IS NO GO. The slogan is Modi ki guarantee not the party's guarantee.
Rest India will know only on 04 Jun.

A few days ago I watched a podcast by a well known Indian media house.I think it was in lucknow and two very senior journalists (UP based) were asked about new houses being built under BJP programme in a particular district of UP.The reply was pretty interesting that 4 lack (400000) new houses were built there in the last five years and out of that 80,000 were for muslim households and when asked how many of them would vote for BJP they smiled and said that directive will come from the Masjid priest. I am fairly balanced politically but the scale and magnitude of developmental work done under Modi"s leadership is mind boggling irrespective of caste or creed or religion. In a country of 1.4 billion you need to do some hard research before commenting on a podcast like a scholar .Except Uzair (at least he spent time in India) the rest including Prof.Hoodbhoy(due respect ) were shooting blanks in the heavy smog.

I started reading Nadeem's article in Dawn in the year 2008. In those days in the ETV office, unrestricted internet access was not available to the staff, though access to all newspapers, including Dawn, was given. I read all his articles for almost a decade. He is a liberal guy. About India, Pakistanis must know one thing. No one can win elections here by abusing anyone. Ultimately, how leaders perform decides their fate. Radical Hindu supporters of the BJP indeed get encouragement during the BJP rule, but that is not enough for any politician to win elections. Modi came to power riding on the anti-corruption wave against UPA in 2014. Kejriwal was riding on the same wave against the state govt in Delhi. Muslims in India are radical. They oppose the uniform civil code, reject liberal culture, promote radical Madrasa education, want to keep women in the Burqa, and want sharia personal laws in secular countries like India and so on. All their radicalism has fueled the BJP's conservatism.

People preempted what could possibly happen to them if they showed any allegiance to the PTI. In fact, at a huge number of polling stations there were no camps and polling agents of PTI. Still people voted for PTI in great numbers.
