The van shouldn't have overtaken anyway due to the solid white line... even without the line, the overtake was started far to close to the horse... the horse going into the left turn is irrelevant to the fact that the van committed two driving offences...

@nigelskinner8988 you're actually allowed to overtake on solid white if what you're overtaking is moving very slow and you're being careful with it. Obviously the van in this clip wasn't, I'm not trying to justify his stupidity, just replying to the point in the comment 🙄

Wow, sound a horn at driver so desperate to get past a bin lorry he's on the opposite pavement, and suddenly the driver has about 50 seconds free to stop his car, get out and shout.
@@garywalk1969 really see NO ISSUES, you are blind or stupid - both. The cyclist was on his side of the road, the left, the car driver had some sense of vision could have waited until the bin lorry had complete the bin pick up but no entitled car driver decides driving on the pavement is his right. Then decides to berate the cyclist for no reason other than putting him out from breaking the law, stop shout and threaten him with violence (affray). Causing an affray is when a _bystander_ who is not involved in the action and is of reasonable firmness is made to fear for their own safety because of violence or a threat of violence that is not directed at them. The term is very literally derived from causing someone to become afraid.

Car overtaking HGV and forces it's way into traffic? In who's imagination?
'I asked the police if they wanted my to report the other drivers, but they said 'no'' - what baloney.
It feels like all local council highways budgets for repainting road markings has been cut to the bone. Many lines have worn away completely... or just a faded ghostly reminder remains. Yesterday it felt like a jolt to the brain when I realised I was driving along a newly re-lined stretch... although I passed a section where they'd redone the outer lines but not gone over the hatching lines in between them. I presume that was a cost-saving.
The law allows people to cycle on A roads.
Also allows you to jump off car parks.
What's legal isn't necessarily wise - I often cycle on A-roads, but I would take a detour to avoid that section of A-road
a lot of laws are stupid and whoever created them has no common sense at all. Unless you are blind sheep which believes that everything what is law is correct. I am against cyclists driving on A roads, because it's annoying for car drivers also dangerous for cyclists. I do ride bicycle sometimes, but I avoid road as much as I can. Normally cycle on a pavement. The law probably says that you cant cycle on a pavement. Because of what? Silly law which I will always break. Because it makes no sense. Now cyclists has more rights on the roads than the cars. Soon we won't be able do drive cars at all because cyclists and pedestrians are like saint cows. Unbelievable.
But if that is an e-scooter, i.e not a bike with battery assist, then it shouldn't be on the road in the first place unless part of a council trial.
#4 whilst not illegal, with today's roads I would not be cycling along a busy A road, I used to cycle the A5 to walsall in my youth, defiantly not something I would choose to do now.#5 demented laugh??? #8 arguing with someone like that is pointless, they just can't grasp the concept of writ and wrong. #last clip, narow country roads its to be expected, it wouldnt suprise me if your right wheels were on or over the white lines, hence the reason for slowing down, JUST in case. better be safe than sorry.

Cyclists and moped riders are legally allowed on A roads in the UK unless 1. There is a sign indicating that cyclists are not allowed on the road and 2. If there is a minimum speed sign posted for the road for motor vehicles (because mopeds have a maximum speed of 30 mph). As for how dangerous, personally I wouldn't trust other road users with my life, but the whole point of the changes to the RTA in January 2022 was to encourage drivers in cars and lorries etc. to look out for more vulnerable road users.
@@stephengraham1153 That is all interesting but I stick to it that this person is at massive risk and whether allowed or not, it is bloody dangerous and extremely stupid to even think about riding this little scooter on this particular stretch and type of road. 1:10 in case we are thinking two different clips. You sure it is even allowed on there and there are no signs or anything? It just seems so dangerous, was all I was saying. At 3:49, he was not tailgating the cyclist in front, he was waiting for a space so that he could ride past the cyclist and give him the 6 foot room required by law.
I thought car was resisting the overtake so there was no 'left hook' at the turn he took 4:05. It looked like decent patient driving for that combination of bike-car to me.

The Law is still very vague about electric bikes and scooters. ( Without any way of tracing the vehicle the riders can basically get away with blue murder!)

@@carlstyth8368 I completed agree, there are a few unmarked cars around, but the police seem to rely on good will and dashcam to police the roads these days unfortunately, where we actually need police on the roads pulling people over enforcing and educating people on poor or bad driving 🚗.

The van was way too close to the rear of the horse. You should always hang back until you can see clearly ahead and then pass giving a minimum of 6 feet clearance and at no more than 10mph.
