- This week I am ditching with the Kobelco and the Kubota and my Rototilt. I get a new G-RAKE attachment to make life easier, you can learn more about that here: g-rake.co.uk. I got the 150mm for my 8-tonne but hitches to fit the others from 4T-8T. Dad has wanted one of these for a while.

What a fantastic job you did with the ditch, the Rototilt comes into its own on those kind of things does help you have a top operator on the machine. See all the locals came out to watch your dad on the G-RAKE 😅.I can see why you love your job so much really satisfying and the scenery breathtaking. The right tools for the job are only as good as the operator using them. It's easy to see you have a good eye for levels when the water starts running before you finished the ditch. Picking stuff off the fence with the grab is a whole new level. I'd have half the fence pulled out 😂 The G rake would look well on a new 8 tonne Kubota. Why break up an excellent partnership 😊 Thanks for sharing your week with us

Hi Amy, in reguards to the gripper catching the back side of the ditch, grab hold of the bucket the other way round so the gripper ends up in front of you, kind of like picking up the bucket in reverse on a standard quick hitch. Also handy for when you are digging tight up to something with a tittrotator. Hope that helps. 👍👍

I really like the bits in the video where you speed it up a bit and add music, it makes for a very watchable video but at the same time the normal speed bits you explain so well what your doing.

I had a rake on demo and had a stone hit the window, so bit in two minds, I use a ruckus rake on a skid steer , always best way like you said with ditching, start at the lowest point!the water is your best level👍 I hope you and the kids have an awesome break, you sure deserve it super mom

Great job Amy if I were looking for a machine in the 8 tonne class Hitachi have the ZX95-7 with a VA boom on it, but what ever machine you choose I would have a VA boom.

An object lesson on spending out on the right tools for the right jobs (Rototilt and G-Rake).
Another great video when ditching I prefer to use a v bucket but I do get sometimes it's not always the way. I would run 700mm pads they do make a difference and for a 8 ton machine for me the best is cat and I won't ever change my mind as run them for years with 20 tonner cats too have a good weekend and looking forward to next week's video
Curently runing e80 doosan/bobcat at work and start with same one and i like it a lot much more than brand new wacker neurson et90 with 50h

Always enjoy your videos you were saying that thinking of trading the Kubota in I follow a few people here on CZcams that run Kubota and really like them and their price is reasonable but I think you are going for a Hyundai this time witch is a great machine I have been looking for a mini and I am leaning towards a Yanmmar see what happens have a great holiday with your family
Kubota are great, to be fair they’re all very good these days! Hyundais are also lovely! 😊

The Takeuchi 290-2 is a nice machine and in Austria the most used.
You have it so much easier these days in my time there was no such thing as a multifunction quick connect fitting, once the bucket was on that was it so ditching had to be done at 90 degrees to the ditch with a wide bucket or if it was a new ditch a 'V' shaped bucket and you would pull the ditch into existence.
I thought the new attachment was for ditching,opps 😬 that overgrown ditch looks nice after rototilt work 👌🏼

I live in a high altitude desert climate, in Utah, USA. Mecalac 9MWR is my next digger. Have a Cat 305C CR, been a disappointment! Tried to talk with Cat reps at ConExpo, was disappointed!
I watched an episode where Amy was at that Trade show in the USA for Hyundai.
That’s so disappointing when you don’t get the back up! Surprised with cat though! Although I’ve never had one. Dad had one well before my time 😅

Did you ever do the egg challenge with the excavator, Ex, pickup an egg from the top of a water bottle with the bucket & close the grab not crushing the egg and setting it on top of a safety cone

We had a 8 tonne hitachi and I really didn’t like it, it was the most uncomfortable machine ever although I’ve been in the bigger models and they’re fab!

Yes, V shaped buckets are available but I suspect a normal bucket is more versatile.
I have had a digger once on the farm using one but it was forming a new ditch at the side of a road rather than cleaning out an existing ditch.
Apart from just cleaning the ditch, Amy was also making "run offs" as she calls them from the road to the ditch, easy with a normal bucket as she goes along.
She also likes to flatten down the soil that comes out of the ditch to keep the job looking tidy, easy with the back of a normal bucket for her.
I'm not a digger driver but I have hired a few over the year.

Exactly what your man said 🙌🏼🙌🏼 also farmers quite often like a gradual run into the ditch for stock so using the bucket allows this control more than a V bucket

Do they have a V Shape bucket for ditching jobs ?
They do but I don’t have one one the rototilt. I prefer using the bucket so you can get the sides at the steepness you want, some farmers want them very gradual for stock and also it’s easier to spread the spoil as you go!
Keep your machine and replace one of the older machines it would be hard to say which one to replace as all your machines are well looked after

We have plenty V buckets at the yard but prefer this method for a number of different reasons 😊

Stick to digging. Not sure on the singing. 😆👍 Kubota are the only machine you rev up and they dig harder. But the Japanese fleet is pretty good. But if you look at the boom of a 8 tonne Wacker Neuson. It will not make any sense the size of it is big. Drove a Komatsu WB70 and the boom on the Neuson. Looked bigger. Crazy. 👍

CAT yea but not nearly as common here as over with you guys. And sadly no Deere however I say in one over at CONEXPO and it was a lovely comfy cab, didn’t get to operate it unfortunately 😢
