Some christians refuse to understand that the Bible myths could and most likely are renditions of earlier beliefs. And the similarities between religions are interesting. I believe Buddha was born of a virgin that dreamed of a white elephant and became pregnant. Lots of preexisting virgin births. Lots of references to other gods in the old testament.

I've been telling people everywhere that there's no story of Lucifer in the Bible, and no evidence in there that they were ever the same being, in fact they seem to be quiet different, even the definition of The Satan, from the old testament, is actually different than people think of as the devil, etc, etc. I'm ready and may post another comment. Lucifer is the word they used in the king james Bible. Its a translation of the Hebrew word helel. Which means morning star, the planet venus, or as an adjective it means light bringer. So yeah the word lucifer isn't found in original text but that's because it's written in Hebrew and not Latin.

I have been visited by things all of my life. My friends eventually start to see things and experience things they can’t explain. As I get older the exposure and experience that I deal with has gotten stronger. The visits happen sometimes while I’m awake. I woke up to being pulled towards the ceiling a red portal was in the ceiling. I kicked frantically to get free. It dropped me and there was no awakening moment. I’ve come to the conclusion that Apollo, Dionysus, Hermes, and Pan are all different aspects of the same god. I write this before watching the video. My take on Satan: Satan is an angel, being an angel is being a servant/slave of god. Only man was created with free will and could choose to believe in god or not, therefore Satan would be without free will and could not rebel against his creator. In the old testament There was no hell and no Satan but there was God´s right hand The morning star who was send out to deliver plagues upon man. In the new testament God is suddenly not the vengeful god but have become the loving God and Satan the morning star has been given a new status as manager for Hell - Only God can create, so hell is created by God. Satan is and will always be a servant of his God.

I think as long as you know to trust the 1 true God, the god that created all and was not created, outside the realms of creation, true reality. With your mind, heart, and soul. Then, no matter what you do after, you will be avoiding being misled. Anything within the realm of creation, is a creation, and something in the system cannot save something in the system. You have to be outside the system. That's what I know to be true, the messengers and prophets even tell people, "Worship God and God alone." wow, what an extensive review. I appreciate the explanation of how varied the Greek and Roman pantheons could be. I think the miniscule views we get in early schooling of many religions tends to leave how how many centuries are spanned by some of these religions. The oldest Christians or Jewish beliefs can hardly be compared to Modern versions of the same. Just as the earliest Greek beliefs and much later Roman hierachy of Gods could change to make one hero into a villain, or vice versa. Egyptian religion is so long and complex that it is a fascinating dive to peer into the localities of the same century, and to view the larger scale of how a god became malicious or grew from a tiny local entity or spirit into a god known all over the nations.
Snakes express continuation. Certainly in Egypt. The way they look, move, shed skin and also use poison. Besides the god Set, the sound of st indicates a direction, line, points to something. Stn in negative context. I think Satan can also be understood that way: points the finger. A vector directed against you. Just like diabolic blocks the path. The god Set might have nothing to do with it. Stn as just a word for negative force, vector, that ended up in Hebrew. I have a suspicion that the influence of Egypt is underestimated.

The counter force is seen as very corrosive. I think St-n is a valid response in language. I can interpret the beginning of the bible as this narrative without the pictures. The structure, the names. (Moses is part of the pharaoh's name: *mose. Born of.) I think it's safe to say that the term/sound St(n) existed for a long time and can be found at the centre of these religious narratives. Not coming from a Christian background I have wondered why Lucifer the light bringer would be considered evil. In fact Genesis 2 has two supernatural beings. One who lies, and one who tells them truth. I know which one I think is evil.

They were exterminated by the proto-orthodox branch over the centuries, who gained support from the ruling elites. Those in power wanted to keep the plebs in fear instead of enlightenment (nothing changed to this day), so it was purely political. Christian gnostics are also the followers of Christ, except in their version He comes to set us free from an evil creator deity & the imperfect material realm where we are trapped & restore us to the true Father. He brings knowledge of our condition & becomes the "tree of life" for us when he's crucified on a cross (or literal tree as some gospel translations have it). Jesus called Himself Bright Morning Star, so what did He mean by that? Was He calling Himself Lucifer? My theory is that Devil was once the 'Son of Morning which is the Bright Morning Star. But when he rebelled against God, the Lord stripped off all of the royal titles he had. It is just as when Princess Diana got divorced, all the royal titles were stripped of her including her royal jewels and crowns. So, when God stripped off all of Satan's royal titles, He gave those titles to Jesus Christ. Therefore, whatever Satan had when he was the anointed Cherub, now Jesus has his royal titles. And the Bright Morning Star was once Satan's title but now it belongs to Jesus.
This view is heretical because Jesus was eternally begotten with the father and was always fully God and Fully human. He never needed or was given any titles except for us humans on Earth after he was glorified after his resurrection.

Great video, but we don't have to be beholden to ancient interpretations. We are given the traditions we have, the cultures we have, and we can find the good in them. We don't have to reject one to accept the other but can respect other or ancient traditions while still staying faithful (pun) to our inherited traditions. A Christian can admire and cultivate aspects of Buddhist, or Mithraic, or whatever ideas without renouncing Christianity. It's not a forced choice, one doesn't exclude the other. I think we can explore many different religions and find value in many traditions while, at the end of the day, finding comfort and security and value in the ones we were brought up in and live our lives in. But always great to explore and learn about the history of the ideas we have and any and all other ones.

Speaking as a Satanist. One of the most comprehensive videos on the subject. I think there's a lot of that underlying tension in modern Satanism between Lucifer and Satan because of hiw Christianity reflected onto societal and worldly values and pursuits. We expect dualism, we expect our religions to be structured and to have very clear outlined values, and on top of that we contrast intellectual growth with cthonic impulses as if they're antagonistic to one another. But what I like about this video is that ir presents Lucifer/Satan as a relatively cohesive *narrative*. That was the original function of myths, these were narratives that you could identify in life, be it everyday life or the greater picture of life. The story of Lucifer is the story of his becoming Satan, and Satan is embodied in that whole narrative movement, not just a specific set of values. Wonderful Documentary! I've come to this conclusion too by piecing together things I've heard and read and seen about paganism. Many horror movies and shows depict people that worship these old gods as wicked and are the antagonists of the show. And when one learns what these gods really are not wicked, like the light bringer, one can think to themself that Christians are equating these gods as evil. When one reads Genesis where YHWY states that he is a jealous god, then one can see that it's competition between the religions. And at the end of the day, religion is a business. This documentary brings together many fascinating facts about these gods and the links between them. When I learned that Milton's Paradise Lost was where much of the Christian narrative of Satan comes from, I was shocked and thought how horrible it is that people are so blindly following this religion and are ignorant of this fact. They need to read their bible instead of believing everything the clergy is telling them. I would hope that they also know that Dante's Inferno is fiction. It is like the pagans and paranormal believers that think Atlantis is a historical place, when it's a fictional place invented by Plato.

Some christians refuse to understand that the Bible myths could and most likely are renditions of earlier beliefs. And the similarities between religions are interesting. I believe Buddha was born of a virgin that dreamed of a white elephant and became pregnant. Lots of preexisting virgin births. Lots of references to other gods in the old testament.

Lucifer is the word they used in the king james Bible. Its a translation of the Hebrew word helel. Which means morning star, the planet venus, or as an adjective it means light bringer. So yeah the word lucifer isn't found in original text but that's because it's written in Hebrew and not Latin.

My take on Satan:
Satan is an angel, being an angel is being a servant/slave of god. Only man was created with free will and could choose to believe in god or not, therefore Satan would be without free will and could not rebel against his creator. In the old testament There was no hell and no Satan but there was God´s right hand The morning star who was send out to deliver plagues upon man.
In the new testament God is suddenly not the vengeful god but have become the loving God and Satan the morning star has been given a new status as manager for Hell - Only God can create, so hell is created by God. Satan is and will always be a servant of his God.

wow, what an extensive review. I appreciate the explanation of how varied the Greek and Roman pantheons could be. I think the miniscule views we get in early schooling of many religions tends to leave how how many centuries are spanned by some of these religions. The oldest Christians or Jewish beliefs can hardly be compared to Modern versions of the same. Just as the earliest Greek beliefs and much later Roman hierachy of Gods could change to make one hero into a villain, or vice versa. Egyptian religion is so long and complex that it is a fascinating dive to peer into the localities of the same century, and to view the larger scale of how a god became malicious or grew from a tiny local entity or spirit into a god known all over the nations.

They were exterminated by the proto-orthodox branch over the centuries, who gained support from the ruling elites. Jesus called Himself Bright Morning Star, so what did He mean by that? Was He calling Himself Lucifer? My theory is that Devil was once the 'Son of Morning which is the Bright Morning Star. But when he rebelled against God, the Lord stripped off all of the royal titles he had. It is just as when Princess Diana got divorced, all the royal titles were stripped of her including her royal jewels and crowns. So, when God stripped off all of Satan's royal titles, He gave those titles to Jesus Christ. Therefore, whatever Satan had when he was the anointed Cherub, now Jesus has his royal titles. And the Bright Morning Star was once Satan's title but now it belongs to Jesus.

Great video, but we don't have to be beholden to ancient interpretations. We are given the traditions we have, the cultures we have, and we can find the good in them. We don't have to reject one to accept the other but can respect other or ancient traditions while still staying faithful (pun) to our inherited traditions. A Christian can admire and cultivate aspects of Buddhist, or Mithraic, or whatever ideas without renouncing Christianity. It's not a forced choice, one doesn't exclude the other. I think we can explore many different religions and find value in many traditions while, at the end of the day, finding comfort and security and value in the ones we were brought up in and live our lives in.
But always great to explore and learn about the history of the ideas we have and any and all other ones.

Speaking as a Satanist. One of the most comprehensive videos on the subject. I think there's a lot of that underlying tension in modern Satanism between Lucifer and Satan because of hiw Christianity reflected onto societal and worldly values and pursuits. We expect dualism, we expect our religions to be structured and to have very clear outlined values, and on top of that we contrast intellectual growth with cthonic impulses as if they're antagonistic to one another. But what I like about this video is that ir presents Lucifer/Satan as a relatively cohesive *narrative*. That was the original function of myths, these were narratives that you could identify in life, be it everyday life or the greater picture of life. The story of Lucifer is the story of his becoming Satan, and Satan is embodied in that whole narrative movement, not just a specific set of values. We make the same mistake when thinking about pagan gods in terms of their identity rather than their function. "Identity" is a far more modern concept in the way we have it. So yes, Lucifer is the intellectual, the proud teacher of humankind, and he is also the immortal, self-rebirthing god of the underworld, death, ritual ecstasy and power, and the Great Beast. As Nietzsche would later realise - it is Dionysus versus the Crucified, not Apollo.

I can't help but feel like the Bible is really speaking of actual stars comets asteroids planets and moons .. all by definition are of the heavens.. Heavens in older translation just meant the highest of the skies .. what if the serpent dragon was just a burning asteroid falling to earth? I've had the same thoughts.. the gnostic Christian concept of a "lion headed serpent" that created the material world sounds like a description of a comet. Wonderful Documentary! I've come to this conclusion too by piecing together things I've heard and read and seen about paganism. Many horror movies and shows depict people that worship these old gods as wicked and are the antagonists of the show. And when one learns what these gods really are not wicked, like the light bringer, one can think to themself that Christians are equating these gods as evil. When one reads Genesis where YHWY states that he is a jealous god, then one can see that it's competition between the religions. And at the end of the day, religion is a business.
This documentary brings together many fascinating facts about these gods and the links between them. When I learned that Milton's Paradise Lost was where much of the Christian narrative of Satan comes from, I was shocked and thought how horrible it is that people are so blindly following this religion and are ignorant of this fact. They need to read their bible instead of believing everything the clergy is telling them. I would hope that they also know that Dante's Inferno is fiction. It is like the pagans and paranormal believers that think Atlantis is a historical place, when it's a fictional place invented by Plato.
