Lyrics:
I've been working real hard, trying to get my hands clean
We'll drive that dusty road from Monroe to Angeline
To buy you a gold ring and pretty dress of blue
Baby just one kiss will get these things for you
A kiss to seal our fate tonight
A kiss to prove it all night
Prove it all night
Girl there's nothing else that we can do
So prove it all night
Prove it all night
And girl I'll prove it all night for you
Everybody's got a hunger, a hunger they can't resist
There's so much that you want, you deserve much more than this
But if dreams came true, oh, wouldn't that be nice
But this ain't no dream we're living through tonight
Girl, you want it, you take it, you pay the price
Prove it all night
Prove it all night
Prove it all night girl and call the bluff
We'll prove it all night
Prove it all night
Girl I'll prove it all night for your love
Baby, tie your hair back in a long white bow
Meet me in the fields out behind the dynamo
You hear their voices telling you not to go
They've made their choices and they'll never know
What it means to steal, to cheat, to lie
What it's like to live and die
Prove it all night
Prove it all night
Girl there's nothing else that we can do
So prove it all night
Prove it all night
And girl I'll prove it all night for you
I'll prove it all night
I'll prove it all night
I'll prove it all night
I'll prove it all night
I'll prove it all night
I'll prove it all night
I'll prove it all night
I'll prove it all night - Hudba
Possibly the best intro to a song ever recorded
Man does Bruce make that telecaster sing . Prove it al night . Doesn't get much better . Big Man !!!!!
Love this so much
He got a guitar and learned to make it talk
Big Man.
Timeless
Man, I never knew he could rip like this.
BRUCE AT THAT TIME WAS A BEAST LIVE. I saw him in 1993 and he was still awesome.
1978: This song is awesome!
2023: This song rocks!
3457: This is the best song ever!
I heard a cover band do it live a few years ago, and I got a whole new appreciation of it!! ❤
Yes, Teacher
😉very likely
When people tell me Bruce isn’t a good guitarist I show them this video and it usually wins the argument
Someone told me that Roy Orbison said that his favorite quitarist was Bruce Springsteen. 😊
same with me
Nothing fancy here, but a great simple solo....
Well Bruce doesn't show this guitar side often and maybe he spent months perfecting this. I'm giving him so much credit for this but this alone isn't putting him in the pantheon. He's got to prove it more than "all night". ...
LOL, listen, he's definitely no faker. He's not just using the guitar as a prop. But come on, his playing is adequate. Trying to make him out to be anything more than that is a joke. He engages is a lot of theatrical "rock star" playing. You can always tell when a person isn't a virtuoso but they try to make it seem like they can really play. A lot of fast, repetitive single note playing and flailing arms.
Turning 60 tomorrow......his music saved my life in 1975..... still the greatest.
"Well he got this guitar and he learned how to make it talk". Staggeringly brilliant. He has been proving it all night, every night, ever since.
Better Days...............
I never saw him play guitar like that before, I thought he just played rhythm and a few solos. When you have Steve & Nils in your band you don't need to be able to play lead.
for fun watch candy's room when Bruce, is just learning the basic cords on MUTT and his best friend Steve is coaching him along... pricesless growth to this incredible hurricane performance here on prove it all night - Bruce means it!
There's a reason he's The Boss...shredding that Fender like it's part of him. Absolutely brilliant!!
This Phoenix show from 78 was my introduction to Bruce when I found it on CZcams in high school. I just saw him play in Phoenix in 2024 and got to hear this song live. Amazing. He’s still the boss all these decades later.
Big Man playing the hell out of that triangle
As a guitarist I’m proud of ol Bruce right here
I saw him during this tour in 78 in Philadelphia. The best concert I have ever seen, not even close. As evidence in this live performance, he is epitome of what true showman is, he owns the stage! He is so animated and passionate; his guitar playing is truly incredible. Belting out the lyrics that he could ever write to songs that only he could ever compse, with a band that is second to none. Each does exactly what they are supposed to do. I watch this video over and over again and can now hear it playing in my head when no music is playing.
This was from my favorite album. Four hours of the most powerful songs I have had the pleasure of witnessing. He will never be matched again. God bless Bruce!!
AWESOME!!I wish I could have seen him on this tour..5 years before i was born but I could only imagine my freind.
Just saw him in San Diego after all these years…best show ever, his energy, this song was great to open up with!!
I was at that show, typical Bruce, fantastic
Best concert I ever saw. No lasers, no explosions, just 4 hours of great music, with no break.
And Clarence... OMG!
I saw in Rom...unforgettable
So jealous🙃
When I saw him in '85 they took a break after about 3 hours 40 minutes and a couple encores and after 10 minutes, when people thought it was over, they came back on the stage and did Santa Claus is Coming to Town, even though it was January 24th. It was a great time. The Born in the USA tour lasted for like a year and 1/2, saw them twice.
4 hours??? OMG
I so miss C.
6:26 His solo will melt your face off! Underrated guitar players of all time!
Agree
He’s the man, he’s the Boss, he’s the best songwriter of all time
@@garabombo78 agree
Folks, this is why they call him "The Boss".
It doesn't get much better than live Prove It from '78.
Patrick Dugan so true!! The Palladium show prove it was just amazing
You were at Palladium? I was there September 17! Great show!
The one in New York is pretty good.
Birth of my children, seeing my team win a trophy, being in a Manhattan bar knowing all the words to Jersey Girl as the 'English Guy' are about the only comparisons I can make to feeling top of your game watching this guy do his thing 👌
Passaic is the best
I was born in 1978. I'm a hardcore Bruce Springsteen fan.
I was born in 1980 and I am a hardcore fan as well 😊. My dad played that born in the USA cassette tape so many times It wore out lol. Every car ride it was great.
That solo is flawless
I’m 67. I just finished reading a 500 page biography “Springsteen”. I’m glad I can see him on CZcams. I’ll take all I can get. He’s legendary.
LOL ONLY 40K views... This belongs in the national archives.
Bruce is a very underrated lead guitarist. He's not very technically skilled, but his playing just oozes raw passion and soul and his choice of notes is perfect.
He has a very distinct style. Loved it when he would hit those solos.
His play.s technically perfect....
@@alexandersmoky2568
Not really, dude.
I never liked Bruce, couldn't stand him, really, then I saw him live in the 90s, saw he kicked shit on guitar, and really got to like him. Now I "get him" of course I realize he's a great songwriter and performer, one of the best, and love his music, including all the stuff I hated before. But I needed to see him kick ass on guitar, and he did.
No he is not underrated. He's a great songwriter for sure but I wouldn't even put him in the top 50 of greatest guitarists. I get nothing from his solos absolutely nothing
Fuckin Rock Star , Bruce knocks it put of the park. I never knew Bruce played lead guitar this good
Absolutely incredible
This absolutely kills the studio version for me, like I can't even listen to the studio version. I wish this version was Spotify so I could jam to it driving down the highway. Absolutely amazing.
Agreed
So I think this show was his best version.
@@bellazoe1 Best version for me was 12/15/78 at Winterland in San Francisco. That show has the best Backstreets + Mona/She's The One as well. Fantastic show.
they put the whole No Nukes concert on spotify and this song is in it and the whole album is great
@@jackgalyon5360 he doesn’t do the whole shredding solo intro on that version though
Best live performer ever to live
Because he’s had Nils, Steve and Tom Morello in the band at different stages, it’s easy to forget how good of a guitarist Bruce himself is 🎸
I saw Bruce on this tour at the legendary Winterland auditorium in 1978, two weeks before it closed down. He and the great E Street Band DESTROYED the place. And this song was a show stopper! It was more extended than this Phoenix version and blew everyone away!
I never knew Bruce was a guitar god
Really you could leave out the word “guitar” there
Easily one of the best guitar solos he’s ever performed.
Unlike so many famous performers, Bruce NEVER just showed up and went through the motions. That's something you cannot deny or recreate. God bless him!
I think Darkness On The Edge Of Town is his greatest album.
Best live shows too.
No doubt. But his latest is really good.
Amen
In my mind it's THE greatest album. It's the album that kind of defined where I waned to be musically and is the first album I'd heard that really spoke about the dark side of our mundane everyday lives. It's an album about wanting more for yourself and fighting to get there. It ain't a beauty of an album, but it's alright.
Salty damn straight
The build up in this song is awesome.
Absolutely beautiful music. Bruce Springsteen is one of the finest musicians to ever live.
No question
I have been to hundreds of concerts, seen all the big acts, but Bruce in September 78 was the best show I ever attended.
Yeah, it's hard to explain to people what those 78 shows were like. I saw 4 of them, never saw anything better.
I was 13 years old in 1978 and had 8 records. 4 were Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. My bother took me to Winterland the first night. Nothing has ever approached it. I was spoiled from then on out...
i wasnt there but i can see the ora coming through on screen, the energy it just magnetic. bruce and the band seemed to me to be at there spirital peak during 70s. the other decades that followed have all been great in there own way, but this is somthing that cant be marketed, cant be manufactored.
No doubt. Saw the Stones on 6/12/78 at the Fox theater in Atlanta. Bruce about 3 months later. The Boss.
Let that be another testament to The Boss & The E Street Band’s greatness here, but always! Long live!
We can talk about 70s guitar virtuosos, from Jeff Beck to Robert Fripp, but those solos by Springsteen in this song are just perfect.
No matter how cool you think you are; you will never top Clarence "The Big Man" Clemons and his triangle and saxophone playing in this video.
Apparently I’m going for the world record of how many times in a row someone can watch this video
My first time seeing Bruce was about eight weeks later in Boston, September 1978. About 20 feet from the stage. It melted my brain and changed my life. Still the finest live show I’ve ever seen.
these videos are so much more bruce to me than latter, even though i saw him in Gothenburg
@@jimdaly7060
I saw him just a couple weeks earlier in Cleveland for the first time myself. Life has never been the same.
Go for it . Timeless classic
you'd have to beat mine first, buddy
Bruce Springsteen - The boss, the man, the genius, the music - Is beyond any kind of criticism and/or smart arse critique that may ever be levelled at him. He is just magnificent. The last of the superheroes. The American dream.
Yep...well said !
Nothing to add, everything is said - Greetings from France my friend
The actual song starts at around 02:24 and Bruce has a smile on his face knowing the performance is already in the bag. He commands the stage like no other, pure magic.
Silvio Dante shredding and provides background vocals, bada bing
One of the single greatest guitar solo intros of all time.
Goosebumps will I listen to this
@@chuckcortright9853 - Every time, and that moment when he looks out at the audience while he's tearing it up, so badass!
Yeah you hardly hear Bruce do such an exquisite intro. I am surprised and pleased.
@@oppothumbs1 - I believe that this kind of riffing was more prevalent earlier in his career. As the tours got longer and the shows stretched into 3 hours, I think he sensed the need to save the solos only for certain songs because he wanted to play as many as he could.
no contest, proving here just WHY he is the Boss... hands down. thank ya'll for posting...
Big man on triangle!! Rip it Clarence!! I’ll meet you somewhere sir
This takes me right back to 1978, an off campus party at my college, with this blasting on the stereo! Boy, do I miss those days! This song never gets old!! 😊
The man is telling a story lyrically and is supplementing the narrative with melodical sounds coming out of his guitar effectively increasing the bandwidth. The solos are the part of the story.
Well said!
Right here on the way home after the cancellation of tonight's concert in Marseille...
It's sad not to see you Bruce, you bring us so much happiness... take care of yourself, you're the Boss! We love you !
This intro always gets me.
Compassion. This music, this solo, my God, needs to live forever in the ears of this and all generations to come. I was born so long after this show and I'm blessed to hear this.
There's a reason why we call him THE BOSS...
His lead guitar playing is full of soul and emotion.
Bruce is still great today but this is something you had to see to get the full experience. The whole band just exploded on stage . Unbelievable energy
Thanks for the love and support . I decided to take out time today out of my busy schedule to get close to my fans and know their thoughts towards my career and I came across you through my official CZcams CHANNEL insight..

my shrink told me h was leaving our session early. He was going to Springsteen concert. i didn't know who he was talking about. If
i had I woudn't of needed him....But hey, I saw this and I'm 77
this is a 1st reply in 9 months...........good on me for tripping with you on You Tube after your Fallon spot tonight.
I saw them back in 2000 and it was still the greatest concert for me, and I was around for the classics (I'm an old dude)
NOBODY does it better. I’m 20, and I haven’t been to a Bruce concert yet. I really hope I get to see the GOAT live!!!!
Get ready to be disappointed. Very overrated.
You are right about that! Never seen anyone better!

I cant't stop watching this. Breathtaking.
Bruce is an underrated guitarist.
At his peak, take’s me back in time . Kick ass band.
This is why I brought a telecaster.
So backstory, a rolling stone article came out saying Bruce was a mediocre guitar player. So Bruce went out to prove it wasn't true that night.
I first saw Bruce Springsteen in concert in 1985. It changed my life.
The greatest musical artist of all time as far as I am concerned. Absolutely in a class of his own as a songwriter and live performer.
I think his born in the USA album gave a whole generation the wrong impression about him.
Bruce at his Peak. If i had a time machine i would love to go and see those mid 1970's shows.. there LEGENDARY. Im 25 years old and im shocked how many people my age no nothing about him. sad.
Still you're not alone, friend ! Also 25 and totally agree with you !
Tyifa Johnson i’m 45 and Bruce(& E Street Band!)-addict since i was 12. The greatest rock-musician(s) since the mid(wel, actually since 1973 in my opinion) seventies!!
omg @tyfia im 43 and first time i heard born in the usa was when i was like 11 and i got stuck on bruce ever since that bruce is one of a kind and we will never see any one like him in this lifetime he will live on in the history books forever hes music is timeless !
Im 14 and Bruce is my hero but like no one of my age knows hkm
Him*
Some blokes just have it all. If the phenomenal songwriting, singing, arranging and albums were not enough…he’s also a magnificent guitar player!!! Love you Boss!
Clarence on tHAT TRIANGLE THOUGH
He is the only guy who can make playing the triangle not look really lame.
@@danielcronin7077 you need to check out Airto. There is such a as a triangle BEAST!
More triangle!
I know!!!!!!
So, just who is going to tell the big man its sissy to play triangle? Building empties quicker than this band sell tickets.
So many people don't know about this Bruce Springsteen.
Goddamn I regret of hatin' Springsteen during younger years. This is one of his best.
I have no doubt in my mind Bruce can actually prove it all night.
I know I’m in the minority, but if I could only own one Springsteen album, one you can listen to a few thousand times over 40 years(which I’ve now done) and never tire of, it’d be Darkness on the Edge of Town. 1978 was one hell of a year for Bruce..🙏🎶🎭😎
Oh yes, Darkness is my favorite as well.
You are not the only one Darkness is number 1 in my book too
Easily my favourite album of his. Nebraska a close second
Darkness is my favorite too, 10/10 album for sure
I agree!! Saw him 2 days ago at Metlife here in NJ and it was excellent. Have seen him since the the river tour. Still puts it all out there!
been a fan for 45 years and only just discovered these recordings. Fantastic
Same here. Born and raised in Jersey , in 1962, my 1st show wasn't until 2000 in Tampa.
I used to see him on Saturday nights at the Stone Pony holding a beer in my hand hardest working rocker of all time never plays less than 3 hours and is so passionate THE BOSS
First saw him live at Los Angeles memorial sports arena October 29, 1984. I was 17, my senior year in HS. Greatest night of my life up to that point. Born in the USA tour, 3.5 hr concert, ticket price $16. Paid $20 from my teacher who scalped them.
I saw this 1978 Darkness On The Edge Of Town tour come through Maple Leaf Gardens Toronto Canada. First time seeing Bruce. He owned the building that night. I sat in Floor Seats for Nine Bucks. Tremendous return value on entertainment. Been a Bruce fan ever since.
Boy do they look young. I saw them on that tour, a couple of times and they were fantastic. Guess that makes me old!
and fortunate...
That's off the charts!
Bruce is really comin into it hard in this version.Lovin it!!One of the best ever and most underrated guitar players ever!!💪💪💪
Super badass
Who is the "anybody" saying differently? 😀
i was there third row dead center The crowd pulled him off stage , bouncers all over the peeps the band kept jamming. he got everyone going ! the best show i had ever seen!

My first Springsteen concert was September 78. I was never the same after witnessing this phenomena. It was literally life changing!
he just SOOO does it for me...ya know?! 😫
My lifelong music hero....nobody else comes even close
I first saw Bruce in 1974, Tower Theatre, Upper Darby Pa. He blew me away that night, and have been a fan since. The BOSS rocks
This live version is bad ass!! ❤❤❤🎸🎤🎧🎵👏
Hey! Thanks for being a fan of my band on CZcams! Have you ever been to one of our concerts? 🎵🎉
Bruce ❤️
Thank you ❤
By far the best song from the Boss!
The Boss - a true man of the people...
At one with his guitar. An opening to be proud of. The whole song is wonderful.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He was magical back then... a completely unique raw emotionally intoxicating sound... it was like experiencing an out of body experience
He still is...
I agree this was his best in raw emotion. Later he did too much pop.....like many bands. But it was still better than 99% of what was on the radio
I always thought the boss was a little underrated as a guitar player he can shred when he wants to
A LITTLE underrated? There's still people out there who think he only has the guitar as a prop, like Elvis!
A few years back I was at a show and they played Lost in the Flood. Bruce can still shred I assure you lol.
@@owenrees7544 True because he doesn't work hard enough ? or showcase his guitar skills enough.
I do not think he cares what you or I think.
He is underrated because he rarely does solos like this one. Also Stevie and Nils are just way better.
Proving once again that good lead guitar within a powerfully written song is much more moving than ultimate shredding in some vapid Metal tune.
Yeah, KISS guitar, Keep It Simple Stupid!
Oh...
@@francoisdelpeuch8527 I think KISS was the problem not the solution
Don't talk about a genre that you probably don't even know
@@lukasfast366 I love metal and while there are some fantastic metal players there are even more who just blow through notes. While I agree there is skill in both, not very many metal guys can sit down and write a fitting solo to a slower song. It’s just how it is, neither are wrong but most people in the common populace are going to prefer melodic and emotional guitar solos and guitar work over a barrage of notes. There is a reason why more people know who this guy is than they know who guys like malmsteen are.
Man, Bruce was feeling like playing some lead this night. A rare night where he just wanted to shred some. Classic Bruce proving it all night.
I find the sound quality is remarkable for a 42 year old recording- compared to the other sound from more recent digital recordings- You can hear Bruce with the subtle utterances at 3:45 - I watch these videos all night to prove to myself that better times are to come- Peace
