    I love that you specifically mention only needing 3 basic tools, then use about 20 specialty tools and jigs....

    • @user-ng5bw8bt4f

      Absolutely right, it's not a fair game for beginners

      I was thinking the exact same thing. This isn’t a beginner video by any means.

    • @Fisher.armstrong
      @Fisher.armstrong Před 2 lety +2

      Just because he chooses to elevate the project with other tools doesn’t mean you can’t do it with the 3 tools, as well as he had to size rough lumber which takes specialty tools that you wouldn’t need. Don’t let people having access to more tools then you make you think it’s not a beginner project

    great, simple project. projects like this keep encouraging me to take the plunge on investing in a planer. Working with rough lumber looks really rewarding

    • @craftedworkshop
      @craftedworkshop  Před 6 lety +1

      It is super rewarding, definitely a major turning point in the woodworking experience. Even an inexpensive planer is well worth the investment. That, paired with a table saw, will allow you to build almost anything.

  • @ScreenPrintR

    Thank you for explaining how to make them with hand power tools like a Circular Saw and the type of wood to buy that's already has a straight edge. I have a Circular saw, router, drill, sander, and a pocket jig. I love to see someone like yourself make a video with these types of tools. I've also have been looking at Craigslist for used tools. Thank you again, and everyone else reading this, don't get discouraged. If you're serious about wood working, take a loan to buy the tools you need. At that point you jump right in to a serious business, and have to push yourself to succeed.You wear all hats in the business. I did this with screen printing and had to learn to sell. Started with friends, family and church.

    It’s not about the “expensive tools” it’s being creative, doing a craft you enjoy and have a passion for. These excuses of not having his equipment is lame. Yes, those tools make the job 4x fast and better but this can be done with simple tools as well. All you need is the courage to get started.
