Very cool take and I'm tempted to agree. They kinda picked their place in the market with free products so hardware is kinda a conflict of interest when they are supplying software to all of android. Oh, and MKBHD lost me when he said the pixel is better than the Red Hydrogen.
There are 25 phones getting the beta q this year so I think that goes towards your point of making all android better... and the pixel 3a is cheaper & yet kept their awesome camera. I have a feeling it's going to be a bunch better selling than at flagship level.
Great points! Yeah you're probably right - the Pixel 3a will most likely sell really well. When I see that phone it reminds me of the Chromecast, Nexus 7, etc. Good value for the dollar. We'll see how all the other phone makers respond. Hopefully we don't see a bunch of $400 phones that manufactures don't update in the long term
@@TheSearchForAwesome i agree... I think the $400 price point is going to be a sweet spot. I think a lot of manufacturers are starting to realize that only making flagship phones & thinking people are going to shell out for a new one every year isn't working.... There definitely needs to be more competition in the midrange market in North America. There are so many good midrange phones that they don't bring here. It wouldn't be super difficult to bring them here since they're already making them.
It is, but I still feel this way to some degree. I just think its a conflict of interest to create pixel exclusive features. I like pixel phones though.
@@TheSearchForAwesome I feel like no one would buy the pixel if it didn't have an amazing camera. That's literally the only reason why I bought it and why I still use it. I personally think they should get rid of the regular pixel line and keep the A line (mid-range phone with an amazing camera). A lot of people put the camera as their top priority. An amazing camera on a phone for 400 dollars is guaranteed to sell well so why not just keep manufacturing the A line and focusing on improving the camera every year?
@@TheSearchForAwesome 6P was absolutely awful. It was great... until it wasn't. Every single person I knew who owned it (my 6P included) either got stuck in a bootloop, or had severe battery issues where the device shut off around 40%. These problems started around the 10-12 month mark. It was a phone that reviewers only loved because they weren't real users who actually try to keep their phone.
Hey thanks for the feedback. I experiment sometimes with length just to see how the video performs. I'll keep adjusting - I have no issue making them shorter, it's just I'm always trying to figure out what is a good length - so I appreciate the feedback. Just curious - what would you suggest for a good length?
@@TheSearchForAwesome of course! Experimenting is important, but of course it depends on the subject and the audience. For this subject, I wouldn't want to listen for more than 5 or 6 minutes max. I am sure you will figure out the sweet spot, but I'd say keeping it short and straight to the point works best (e.g: Mr.Mobile videos and reviews)
@@TheSearchForAwesome 10 minutes is perfect in my opinion. You're doing a great job. I wish you would make videos more often actually. I dislike a lot of the big channels like MKBHD's channel for example because I feel like they're getting paid by manufacturers and they give them positive reviews no matter what as a result. I can't take their reviews seriously. I enjoy watching videos like this from small tech channels because they aren't afraid to give negative reviews and they're more honest.
Thanks! I dont think MKBHD is paid tbh, but I appreciate that. Yeah I'm working on getting more videos out frequently, it's just I always want my videos to hit a certain level of quality before posting and I have a full time job and other stuff. But I need to figure out how to make videos happen. Thanks for the support!
Great video mate! Congrats!!

Thanks man! Lol! Red made a phone a while back that sorta flopped - that's what he's talking about - not the VERY pricey video cameras
@@TheSearchForAwesome Copy! Forgot about that.
Great, vid.
Thanks so much! I was a little nervous releasing this one 😅
This is a pretty accurate breakdown

For sure - that market is wide open for the taking.
I wish they went back to the Nexus approach, and made sure to avoid Huawei. I don't want another 6P.
I miss the nexus approach - also the Google Play Edition of phones was really cool!
@@TheSearchForAwesome Yes!! Something like a Pocophone Google Play Edition would be killer!
That would be crazy
I'm guessing this video is from before the 3a came out

Their last greatest phone was the 6p, rest in peace sweet prince :(
That one was really great!

yeah, Nexus 6(Bootloo)p
I like your videos and presentation man, but please shorten your videos, they're too long sometimes

Thanks for the feedback again! I'll give that a shot in the near future. Shorter videos are actually easier to make :)
