- A construction company contacts Automatrics to report a stolen excavator. The Takeuchi TB 235 3.5 ton compact excavator was taken over the weekend from a work site near Sudbury, Suffolk, England.
Automatrics send a signal to connect with the covert Automatrics MTrack theft recovery tracking system. The unit connects OK, however no GPS fix can be received from the unit. Automatrics deploy a RF radio signal finder to the reported local cell site location to try to locate the stolen machine. Follow the finder to see if the machine can be located and recovered.
Please note there is at least one shock event in this video with swearing on camera. This has been left in to depict accurately events as they occur during this Automatrics find operation.

This man is what you want when tracking your stolen equipment, enthusiastic to the max and never fails when looking for the asset..
Agreed.
The YT algorithm just randomly plopped this on my feed.... and I'm hooked
I heard a small contractor in New Jersey painted all their equipment purple with yellow dots. When one of their excavators were stolen they called a popular local radio station with a description for some assistance. After the station had asked their listeners for some help for this contractor, sure enough somebody was looking right at it while driving home from work.
LMAO
Here in British Columbia we did a corporate video for a logging company that painted all their equipment bright pink. I don't believe they ever had a theft.
@@MrPlusses Way back in the late seventies and early eighties when Kimberly Clark had logging rights in eastern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario they had several pieces of equipment painted a beautiful acrylic bright flourescent watermelon color.
However, to steal any piece of their equipment would have required a several hour haul on a dead end road with only one exit to Highway 11.
I would have thought they did this to spot their machines when workers would leave them afar from the main logging site, just prior to crew changes.
@@terrywilder9 Equipment theft in remote areas is still a big thing here in BC. Shut downs and holidays are prime times for things to go missing.
@@MrPlusses This probably implies some big companies are knowingly purchasing stolen equipment. It's hard to imagine for some small concern having any use for say, for example, a caterpillar harvester head.
I'm addicted to watching these recoveries...oddly compelling ❤

It's exactly the same as most places. They do as much as they can, which is a lot more than you imply

Ahh the UK. Where stealing an excavator is just a bit of misdemeanor but hurting people's feelings on Twitter will get your door kicked in by the MI6.
Some of their houses still have pipes made out of lead.
In America the cops would impound the excavator and charge you $500 to get it back lol
Yeah, the same way here in San Francisco. Actually, the police don't even help you with break-ins anymore unless the theft exceeds $950.

What barn?????????????????????????????????
Yep receiving stolen merchandise
One pup, WTF have u just watched. The barn that had the digger in when he walked up to and was hidden right at the back.
In France it's very common for theft to drop the machine on barn that seem abandoned / not much used, just for few day, time to find someone to buy the stolen machine. By using barn without permission, the owners can't tell the police who are the theft because he REALLY don't know. It's even pretty common that farmer find some stolen car on their barn and have to call the police ^^ No joke ^^

That level of theft in the US and in Texas is a felony and likely will land you in jail for a year or more. Also leaves a big stain on your record and makes it hard to get hired again.
I'm sure they got their just desserts...
Good job Richard. Rather curious the police knew where to head for at the get go when the machine was 'stolen' from the farmers barn? Looks like the whereabouts of Aladdin's Cave of stolen treasures was already known to the local constabulary.
Some thinks stinks
On the second recovery the office were feeding new cell maps directly to the police, a minute by minute pursuit. It was the first GPS fix that took them right into the second yard. We got the impression that the police had that site on their radar, but in later discussions with them they said they once thought a drug farm was operating from there but nothing had ever really been seen to be kicking off there
Not really, police have a "favourite" for everything and by that I mean they will frequently check out the locations of KNOWN CRIMINALS. Kind of like if a bunch of shops got robbed the Police will go and see the local shoplifter who they have arrested numerous times before. It's not really rocket science or, the way you put it... "magic"
@Johnny Ericsson This customer does not use the optional remote control to arm and disarm his fleet of Automatrics MTrack Proactive motion sensors. Just chose to call us on theft option
@Johnny Ericsson Sorry you mean did we receive a motion alert when it moved from the barn. Not at that time, we kept checking the RF which is normally sufficient to confirm still at location. We literally just missed it by a few minutes. Motion alerts did come in later.
That's really smart on his part to give an instant update of his whereabouts and information before searching closer.
It's really cool to be able to search up where you are on Google Earth, and see where you've been and where you are when you find these things. You really get around, Richard!
Nice to get out and about 👍
Understaffed Police. Yep, too busy policing hurt feelings.
And diversity quotas.
Nope Theresa May and her party cut the police funding by 40%
No ... Police staff have been cut by govt, who are trialling private police in London and other parts of the UK. Yes privatisation of the police force. Where I live traffic police looking after my case (hit and run drink driver) said they've gone from 8 to 4 crew in two years for Southampton.
If you don't direct your anger in the right place we are going to continue heading towards dark ages...
Misdirected resources and lame excuses by senior police 'management'. Have a look at this video by Daniel Bostock. czcams.com/video/JzoXpCTaLQk/video.html
But at least they got caught in the end. Probably get a stern talking to or possibly even a fine.
Again, private corporations doing the work of the police. The police actually bolloxed their part in this. Handed to them on a plate and they are that slow the thieves are able to move the stolen property!!!! Police are increasingly a waste of money. No arrests.
As security company in the states, we look at the areas where the police lack and create a business around it. Just like in this case. Good Job as always, and keep it up.

@@dm55 When this machine went missing the police were the SECOND ones called, turned up late and fucked things up. You're a cop-sucker, Matt.
@peter d I think they're mostly complaining because of the huge police cuts across the UK. there's some areas that only have cops during the day, night it's almost free to do what you want. quite a crazy situation there.

Cool Comment 👍
What you need is a little remote camera you can set up once you identify the site, to watch traffic and see if anyone moves it, it would get you identity of who did the job, while you wait for law enforcement to show up.
Always a good watch these videos.
You need to get started earlier in the day. Seems as you don't want the location revealed! The people of where the stolen property is located, are as guilty as the theif!
Super result! I would really enjoy this job on the tracking side (did a bit of police work) plus also canvassing for new accounts as I think every plant company and other expensive items as appropriate should have tracking capabilities. If life wasn't going in a different direction with my own business opportunities this is the sort of thing I would love to do.
The tracking company doesnt want the thief cought. Get the equipment back is all they care about. More free thiefs means more demand for tracking.
well done! Afterwoods it's easy to say that you shuldent have turned the RF-reciever off, while waiting for the police. And that it was a bit sloppy work, not checking for other exits. But still a good result. Even a bonus, in the tractor. Keep the good vids comming. And as I have requested before, some information on the aftermath is always welcome.
That plot twist! 9:08
MrLongshot26 had a feeling that would happen when he left it
What a shit show. Why wouldn’t you park close enough to keep eyes on the digger while waiting for the cops.
@@DFRDRIFTPIG hindsight is a great thing
MrLongshot26 in another video he finds the machine and waits for the cops but they take their time. So he decides to go to the pub for some tea and return later. Also I hope their device has an external battery as the thief’s now are going to disconnect the battery in hopes the gps signal drops out.
honestly though what do they expect, driving past with the RF beep at full volume repeatedly, then actually walking around the digger and flying a drone over the property. You'd have to be deaf AND blind to miss all that. If I was this guy I'd turn the volume down when I get close AND only do one or two passes of the property if it's out in the sticks like this. and I definitely wouldnt get a drone out unless it was literally the only way of seeing inside.
Imagine you just stole a digger and while your in your barn in the middle of nowhere some guy keeps slowly driving past with a loud BEEP...BEEP...BEEP hahahah...
You must really enjoy your work! I know I would, doing something unquestionably good in every sense of the word! Bravo sir!
You're a madman walking into the barn of some random dude housing stolen property. Crazy risky. Wait for backup!
Thats what you call trespassing. Youll be smoked if it was in US
@@darugdawg2453 It's only trespassing if there are posted signs (and you have to post a bunch, not just 1 at the front gate or something, you have to ring the whole property), or if you've been told directly that you're not welcome. It's the UK, where the most dangerous weapon they have is a butter knife 🤣

Cops probably called their pals that stole the excavator to tell them they've been found out and get it moved! Notice the cop asked about the tracker.
On the other hand transporting that excavator with just straps and the way they strapped it was horrible, transporters should be arrested.
Should have left a camera in the bushes by the barn.
He stole that fair and square.
Should've parked across the driveway, or at least right at the driveway. Nitwits. But by them moving it, TWO stolen pieces of equipment were recovered. So it all worked out in the long run.

This was just recommended to me on youtube. A channel that finds stolen excavators.
I would say that cottage haad LOTS to do with that theft TBH, as soon as you were noseying in that barn, too quick to be any other reason, the Beibergh district (Hadleigh/Sudbury etc) area does have a fairly high crime rate, especially plant and lead/pipe etc, and there are a few 'traveller' camps including a large one just west of Ipswich that is renowned for crime. Manpower for Suffolk Police is getting to dangerously low levels sadly. A brilliant result, and that Claas tractor could have even been nicked from their UK HQ just off the A14 near Bury St Edmunds, about 20 miles or so from Sudbury
This is in Braintree DC area Essex.
What threw me was Sudbury, that is in Babergh district, and he was just off Duddery Hill in Haverhill, which is fairly high up, and about 4 miles or so from Ashen, which strangely is partly in Suffolk and Essex. I did think Richard risked his life, his every move was being watched from that house, too much of a coincidence, he did put himself in danger nosing about, now that is a rookie mistake, he had the RF signal, but impatience got the better of him on this one, Police attending will have been from Essex, not Suffolk, cross border requires special permission from duty control, the brand new CLAAS tractor will have been a bonus for police, the mind boggles why manufacturers of heavy plant do not factory fit RF and GPS tracking units, especially as around here you are barely an hour away by road from the largest container port in Europe, and within a couple of hours, your nicked plant can be on it's way to anywhere in the world
Just a shame that the crooks cannot be caught as they were virtualy next to them
Thanks for your comment very informative 👍
@@nethalus the problem with fitting gps/trackers from factory is that every crook will learn where to look for them(standart placements), and then remove them. still i agree, way too little is done on antitheft/tracking, i guess manufactors of cars/trucks/motorbikes/tracktors/etc sells more with each theft
