Stolen Mercedes GLS Automatrics London Theft Recovery Operation

  • Yet another Mercedes theft through the vehicle key cloning, its just all too easy for a three man team caught on CCTV. Follow the Automatrics theft recovery team when they are contacted by a car hire company to try to locate a stolen Mercedes GLS. Time appears to be against the team as the vehicle reported location is suspected of being a chop / dismantle shop and the police are struggling to support the team. A big thanks to our customer for pushing police support to return on this one and to Danny for his once again speedy attendance, dedication, resolve and recovery skills.
Warning strong emotive language is used within this operation.
    Mapping locations statement:
While maps and locations of our devices are generally accurate we advise that these graphic depicted locations are only an approximation, they are not guaranteed to be completely accurate and as such they cannot be used to suspected the location they show. The actual true locations of any recovered stolen asset can only be confirmed when they eyeballed by witnesses and then captured on our video footage.
Please note, there was a deliberate delay in releasing this video to enable the police to thoroughly investigate the theft. No police arrests have been advised to Automatrics, however our operational intel may have helped the Met police.
Clearly the Met police had difficulties to support Automatrics access to the tracked vehicle in a more timely manner in this particular operation. Although we describe possible reasons for police delays and why a warrant may not have been authorised we cannot confirm that our thoughts were in fact the case. For sure the customer outcome may have been significantly improved had they responded quicker. This vehicle with all parts (except the wheels) and was later sold at auction to help recover the majority of the value of the car.

Police will often ignore what certain groups are doing. One reason is money and corruption, the other is that they will control other criminals and give information in return for money. It is a balancing act.

We cannot believe the helicopter missed that cut off Range Rover roof, it was quite a sizable feature in that rear yard. It must have been chopped on the Saturday night / Sunday ...... had the police gone in with us on the Saturday morning we may have been able to save that owners Range Rover from its impending death sentence.

Section 17 Pace provides entry for arrest not to retrieve stolen property. If the argument was the offender/s were on site, sec 17 could be used, but the reason they wanted police to enter under 17 was to retrieve the stolen property, which would be unlawful under 17. The Police from what I can see have it correct when they say they need a warent.

Point noted, joking aside, watch a few more theft recovery operational videos to discover some better customer investment results, saving owners up to £350K
This client was operating a self insured rental business, as such any financially viable good insurance option would be hard to find. Most insurance policy fees are significantly increasing above inflation, insurers are definitely not flavour of the month.
Theft claims are regarded as a policy holder fault claim, meaning if you have to claim that leaves a pretty expensive black mark for anyone for the next 5 years insurance premiums. You may keep your no claims discount but the actual premium will sky rocket. Most clients do not claim on any insurance, they get their vehicle back, avoid devaluation haggling sessions with an insurer, and they also retain vehicle value avoiding a "Stolen Vehicle DVLA Marker" as triggered by a theft insurance claim.
