This episode we finalize the front valance and grille on a 1967-68 Mustang; though most of the tips will apply to most vintage cars. - Jak na to + styl
I love this channel, such helpful videos
Me too!
Thank you do much for the very speedy reply, much appreciated. I know it sounds crazy but somehow I am the lucky one, who ended up with a grille without any drilled holes on the underside of the grille. I'm going to tell all the people in my. Car club about your great videos.
Jeff, thanks for forwarding the links. I took my car apart about 4 years ago and your videos are helping me figure out how to put it back together and learning some new ways to improve the fit. I see your car is a 68 mine is a 67 fastback also.
Thanks again, as always, very useful and like your attention to detail. Pity you are not in the UK, you could help me with my '66 coupe 😂
Always wanted to see England...
Use the mounting tabs in the grille surround to establish the holes in the grille. The grille should sit in behind the rear of the trim and on the tabs. Thanks for spreading the word!
Thanks for watching Howard, and be sure to tell your friends about us! There should be six holes in the bottom edge of the grille. These will line up with the six holes in the back of the filler panel. You'll need clips and fasteners for that. You can see the mounting tabs starting at 5:05 of the video.
Done with season 2! Love these guys. Mike
Excellent how to.
The mustang looks outstanding.
Howard, if memory serves us correctly, the Eaton pump went to a remote reservoir that mounted on the inner fender. The reservoir was specific to the Mustang, Falcon and comet 1964-65. Sometime in mid '64 model year Ford went to the "Ford" style pump. As far as we know the reservoir is not being reproduced and would need to be sourced used. If you have any more questions go to the web site and contact us via e-mail and we'll do what we can to help.
@jasprd67 Yeah, you set your desired fit, hold it, then clamp the valance to the fender. Then scribe it and remove it to drill the existing holes or open them up for better fit.
@cecil6711 Thanks Cecil! You have no idea how hard it is to not go ahead and put the hood on that thing. BUT we have a few things to shoot and go over and the shooting is easier with no hood on.
You have a video on installing front grill kit, moulding, etc…for a 66 Mustang Coupe
Not yet, sorry.
You are welcome Darrin
stang is looking good thanks for the vid good stuff
@jasprd67 Actually our car is a '67 as well. We'll also start on a '68 hardtop and a '65 Hardtop here pretty soon.
I'm working on a '67 stang convertible, love your videos they are a real asset, saved me lots of headaches (and asprin). Just quick question: how is the bottom of the grille held in place since there are no holes to attach screws to ?
Autorestomod, I did not understand the scribe part on the valence. Did you clamp the valence to the fender, then drilled to add more holes for bolts/nuts, making the fit tighter?
No need for the Locktite. If you look at some of the captive washer bolts many of the washers have a "tooth" to them. and the tension on the bolts via the sheet metal nuts will do nicely. And...please don't take this the wrong way...unless you've done something HORRIBLY wrong there is no way a Mustang is going to vibrate as much as a Harley.
what episode do you install the headlight buckets? mine fit horrible and the headlight doors are not even close to the body and fenders

Hi Jeff. I watched episode 48 and 48 ...wished you had shown the mounting of the lower stone guard BUT ..did not see the UPPER stone guard at all...do you have that in another video ? Thanks
We discuss the install of the upper stone guard at the beginning of the video. We didn't show it going in since the piece just drops in onto the fenders and bumper brackets. We did show the lower valance going in on this episode. Not sure what you mean by lower stone guard.
Good morning Jeff. I actually figured it out. I am doing two things - Fitting the pieces before I do my paint (very soon) as you always point out a second, I need them aligned to mark off for stripes. The one has me thrown a bit on mounting because again, I need it aligned for painting. The thing I am calling the upper stone guard is really called the grill support.
Hey I’m working on a 70’ mustang. I’ve heard that you can use 69’ fenders and front grille and it should just Clío in, (more or less) anyone have any experience with this?
If you use all the front components, then yeah, I feel pretty sure it will bolt up.
Where can I get the screws and fasteners that are the right sizes for this install? I have the part but I’m missing some of the screws and fasteners and would like to get a new set...
National Parts Depot has the fastener kits in stock.
where can i get the little pointed pieces that go on the outer grille molding.? some of mine are gone. thanks for any help with this.
Send Jeff an email with pics. jford@autorestomod.com
yea that,s not going to happen. i am Not very computer friendly .the part i am talking about is on the trim that looks kinda like a hockey stick. it goes on the out side of the wide flat piece between the grille and the back edge of the bumper. in the video Jeff says that there is a clip that bolts to the edge of the headlight door ,and the rest of the trim is pushed on using these triangle shaped clips. i may have to figure out something else. thanks for your fast reply. sorry for my slow reply.
Hi Jeff!
Maaaaaaatttt!
3:07 what's the piece called that he's screwing into? The steel piece the chrome goes into to
That is a stone guard.
Does it have to be welded on? I'm redoing the front of my 68 mustang
P.s. - my other pony (gotta have 2 this way one keeps the other company). My other pony is a 64 1/2 coupe, w/ 289 auto, generator car (it's also a D code). This car has an eaton pump and I'm trying to install A/C in the car, the problem I'm having is the eaton pump needs to turn 30 degrees to be able to install the compressor bracket, I'm lost since I can't obtain the rear bracket on the eaton pump. Do you know of anyone that me be helpful in obtaining this, so I can have a "cool" car for the
