    Hey, I am seeing a Sync version 3.4 (I'm guessing Beta) available for download from the Ford site.
    Several CZcamsr's are (have) installed this update on their 2016, etc cars .. (suspect they may be in the US)
    Was wondering if it would work on a 2018 Focus RS? I have Sync version 3.2.2
    Also, I am in Toronto, Canada and wondering if there would be any issues with say Maps
    as in local Canadian data?
    I have hooked my car up to my phone's WiFi and tried to check for updates, but it just spins
    and never finishes.. am I doing something wrong? am I missing something?

    • @lacombeford
      @lacombeford  Před 4 lety

      Hey, first off thanks for watching and the question. It should work on your focus without effecting your map, but with this particular update, the easiest way is to do it by USB stick, the instructions are in the link below.

    Connor, on my '16 F150, I have auto updates "on". I receive "updates" because I see messages across the top of my sync3 screen stating that software has been updated. However, my sync version never updates. Still on 1.0, even though on the Ford owner website, its states that 2.3 is available. Any thoughts on how to get the update pushed to my F150?

    Connor, I have a question. I just picked up the 2017 Escape Titanium with Navigation. I noticed late 2016 and 2017's don't have the "climate" on the bottom of the screen for doing voice commands for climate control. I asked my dealer about that when I was out looking at the Escape. He said it has it because the 16's do. I took a test ride and was by myself and the day I picked up the Escape and he went through a few things with me he looked and was confused as to why it's not on the 2017's. Do you have any idea why it's not on the 2017 Escape's ? I was a little disappointed to find out it wasn't a feature anymore but I see the Auto Climate control works just fine. I don't have to really mess with anything I leave it set to 72, but was wondering if you might know why it's not in the Sync System anymore. Thank You

Only other thing I wish Ford would do or have done is to make the "Stop Start" engine feature automatically "off" and not "on" all the time. Not bad but Im not used to it and I forget once in a while to turm it off and when I stop and it shuts down I panic for a second thinking the engine died. Im coming from a 2002 Escape... lol ! So all together the cost of the key is 210 when all is said and done I wish I still worked for dick hannah dealership then I wouldn't be paying nearly half as much as that i bbn think that is just outrageous! And I am trying to find another ford dealer that is willing to help me hopefully soon my car is my sanity break from the kids and school and when I want to listen to music or my school work on line I cant hear it like I want to? I have to open Alexa on the sync 3 then I could use it hands free. But then there's not music playing. In order to go back to FM, you have to hit mode until you cycle through to it. • @lacombeford
      @lacombeford  Před 6 lety

      Chip van meter no, what this video is referring to is when you are parked in your garage if you set up your home’s wifi on your car it will automatically search for updates to keep your sync up to date. On many of the newer models you can now opt to receive a separate data plan for your vehicle (so it would become the hot spot for your phone for example). Usually when you purchase you’ll receive 3G for free as a trial and then you can decide if you would like to purchase a plan (here in Canada its through AT&T). You can decide how much data you’ll need on the road and what works for your budget. Therefor the wifi connection and data packages on Ford’s are two separate things.

    Hello i have ford ranger 2017 and i have a software version 2.0 and sync 3 but i dont have navigation and i cant update my software to via wifi, what should i do?

    • @lacombeford
      @lacombeford  Před 6 lety

      WhySoSerious PutASmileOnThatFace not all vehicles with Sync 3 come standard equipped with Navigation. Especially the newer models with the version 2.0 or higher. This is because Google and Apple have better Navigation and voice command software so with Ford equipping Apple Carplay and Android Auto it wouldn’t be necessary to also have Navigation (your phone would work using It’s own Map app displayed on your truck’s screen). First step would be to talk to your dealer to determine if it came equipped with Nav (or any dealer should be able to find that information for you using the VIN). Then you’ll know for certain if it had Nav in the first place. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!

    I have a problem with my 16 flex. It does not show the "check for updates" option. I've been struggling with this update for over a year since I got the vehicle. It seems to be stuck in sync 3 version 1. When I got to General - automatic system updates - it says it last checked for updates 7/5/2002 and the only options are view current version or turn the auto updates off/on. Help, please. Ford dealership wants $90 to update.

    • @lacombeford
      @lacombeford  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Candace, have you tried going to the Ford SYNC update website, inputting your VIN and then checking for updates there? If available you can download the update on a USB stick and plug that in your vehicle to do a manual update. Here's the website help.ford.com/update-sync/

    • @lacombeford
      @lacombeford  Před 2 lety +1

      I also just checked with our Service Manager and this was what they said: "From reading this concern, it looks like there is a problem with the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) in the vehicle. If the vehicle cannot connect to wi-fi and cannot search for an update that means that there is something wrong with the APIM that will need a manual update through Ford using an IDS (diagnostic scanner). The reason I think this is an internal concern in the APIM/SYNC system is because if the vehicle is saying last update checked in 2002, the internal clock is not correct and could be causing the issue of the vehicle not being able to check for an update as these systems work together.
      I don’t know this for sure, but this would be an educated guess without seeing the vehicle. At the end, this is a concern that would have to be updated by a Ford dealership and would unfortunately cost the customer money as this vehicle is out of base warranty."
      Hopefully between this and maybe trying the Ford SYNC website you can troubleshoot the problem.

    Ford don't let auto updates work in the UK, you have to load them in via USB

      The password would be whatever you wifi password is. The one provided by Telus or Rogers, whoever your provider is.

    The biggest fault of this video is after to enter the password you need press the half arrow button to begin the connection. Would be nice to include that critical step.

      Our data has been collected for years. Its true, your phone covers your every move. Many companies have strict privacy policies on who and where that data goes. Ford does as well and uses data more for software updates and servicing recommendations

    Tricky part is this guy never click scan software button. Why? It most likely will fail. Wifi update will never work. No wonder traditional auto maker cannot compet with Tesla.

      @lacombeford  Před 4 lety

      Jack Shaw we’ve actually never had any issues with the software updating automatically, it works great. The vehicle we did the demo on a vehicle on our lot which was already up to date and we didn’t need it synced to the dealerships wifi lol. Tesla is great though, trail blazers for sure!

    • @lacombeford
      @lacombeford  Před rokem +1

      A few things could be happening…
      1- if your wifi password is too long it won’t work in your ford
      2- you are too far away from the wifi hub/signal
      3- you require a larger update and may need to download the update on a USB and plug it in. You can check for your vehicle’s update on the link below using your vin

    I have a 2018 Ford F-150 lariat special edition and if I enable the wifi hotspot will it make my monthly bill go up

    • @lacombeford
      @lacombeford  Před 6 lety

      Hi! The WiFi Hotspot is actually set up through your Ford Pass App. It's a separate package you can set up, not connected to your Cellular Data Plan or Internet plan. When you set up the WiFi in your truck you can select whatever package best suits your requirements (how many days per month, etc) and your budget. There will be a monthly charge based on what package you select. We hope that helps answer your question.

      Data collection has been ongoing for years now. Your phone tracks your every move, its true. Ford communicates more with the vehicle itself to provide software updates and servicing data/recommendations.
