What's funny is Barbara Streisand wasn't scheduled to appear. She just happened to be in her car near the studio, and asked the driver to stop, and made it before the skit was over. Their shocked reaction is genuine. The magic of live TV.
The improvized ''I can die now'' from Myers is genious!
Madonna actually has good comedic timing. She was just rarely offered the right roles. Barbra's appearance here is legendary. She was so fond of this skit that she had Mike bring the character on tour with her.
One of the all-time greatest SNL moments. The reactions by Myers, Madonna and Roseanne--priceless!
I remember watching this live when it was aired in 1992. What at surprise! It was (and remians) priceless.
I remember this episode, and Barbra's cameo was everything! And on a sidenote, ironically I think this was one of Madonna's best "acting" appearances ever, seemingly comfortable with her comedic delivery and humor in this skit.
The look on Mike's face when he sees her off stage...classic. one if the best surprise cameos ever
This is the most natural I have seen Madonna letting her guard down. Even when she is acting she tends to be someone acting upon an act if that makes sense. This skit was hilarious! They all look wonderful!
Madonna is genuinely star struck by Streisand, her reaction is very sweet!
I should show this to my teenage son... after all these years, I still say "like buttah" and "I'm a little verklempt, talk amongst yourselves" and he has no idea why, lol.
One of the best cameo walk ons in history
this is so iconic it could never be recreated...
Madonna's timing, expressions, body language, reactions to her cast mates, and vocal delivery were all perfect...what a shame Hollywood never effectively tapped into her comedic genius....she could have been a major enduring industry talent.
This is a classic. After Barbra appears, Roseanne was outta her mind, shaking Madonna and collapsing back into the couch. A stick of butta. This skit blew everyone's mind!
One of the best moments in SNL history, they so WERE NOT expecting Barbra to appear and their reaction was gold. Great moment. (and she's still like butta)
I was in high school when this came out. One of my friends called me and said, "your mom is on SNL!"
After years upon years of watching and rewatching this sketch... for some strange reason... Barbra's walk-on made me tear up! Verklempt af.
This was one of the best skits. I liked how Madonna dished herself while she playing another character. Mike Myers is also great. It is so great when Barbara shows up.
This was not only one of the greatest sketches ever on SNL; it was one of the greatest moments in TV history! I was watching the show live with some friends when it happened, and we all started screaming! Madonna’s reaction is hilarious. We all reacted pretty much the way she did.
I was watching this live at school, in a community room at UCSB. There were 20-30 students watching one 25" tv. (It was the 90's) I remember a few students literally screaming and I think it's because you can tell it was a genuine surprise for the cast. Time flies.
