Gekko I saw this just once at the time and never even heard the song again, not even when I saw them at the first Madstock, but it stuck with me all these years and tonight it finally dawned on me to look it up on YT....and it's better than I ever thought it could be! Oh, and I'd totally forgotten Wilco was in the band at the time!

Saw them at Australia's premier musical auditorium.... Festival Hall in Melbourne. A memorable night ...such a tight band ..and Ian ...just being himself.
I was 26 I moved to UK and was obsessed with these people Love the poetry and language that is not my mother tongue That’s all my children know😢 but So joyfull God bless US All M
I really love that tight little drum roll with the bass kicking in half way through it, at the beginning of the song. If that doesn't get you in you have no soul

This is about being a musician and an artist along with a group of other artists! I have met and worked with the BLOCKHEADS, Derek, himself told me what Ian was like! Love, peace and light
I do like the term they used when various band members, roadies and associates had to 'babysit' a drunk Ian, out clubbing when he was being loud and obnoxious! "Dury Duty" =oP =oD XoD
When I think of what a band is, I think of the Blockheads. They all go together and man does each musician really bring something incomparable for their playing style. Also they're insane god bless em. Sane people are nuts
Interesting to see how Mickey Gallagher, the keyboardist, co-wrote this tune with Ian, and the influence of Mickey's time backing the Clash shows here.
When I saw the Wilko Johnson band supporting The Stranglers, I was ecstatic to see Norm! :D He's still so amazing, and it shows how much he enjoys playing.

In the introductions to this song. The lyrics have Johnny saying. Im Johnny, how you doing harry"? But I hear him saying " I'm Johnny, how you doin alright? Charmin"
@me1onhead I once saw him playing with Wilco J - when he broke a bass string mid tune. He carried on playing, using the remaining strings, while a roadie restrung the missing one. Amazing.
NORMAN WATT-ROY - NEVER EQUALLED BASSIST - Amazing patterns, brilliant link ups, beyond musical feelingness! Excellentnessness!
Why is, such a classic in a sorry state of low quality sound...!?x👍😱😱
Norman Watt-Roy, not only knows how to play, but knows when not to play as well.
💯💯classic blockheads
Mate! His baselines are epic!
Top geezer too. Met him not long ago and had a gin and tonic with him. Absolute class bass player. He's doing bits with the Dirt road band now 👍
Ian Drury & The Blockheads one of the most unique bands in British history full of very talented musicians
I think Charlie on the drums may hold the award for the coolest music video intro ever 👏🏻

Loving Norm's Bass. Arguably one of the UK's underrated bass players.
God how could you not love this. I have never seen this vid before. What a fantastic bunch of musicians and people. Brilliant stuff!

The Blockheads are all underrated musicians. They were collectively and individually superb. Norman's basslines are always fun.

Ian Dury and the Blockheads, legendary!
Love this tune ! Especially when he says "beeeeeeent" LMFAO classic .
The only other use of that word in popular culture that matches it is Noel Coward in the Italian Job "Camp Freddie, everybody in the *world* is bent!"
