  • Today we're learning the basics of poi reel turns in split-time same direction--these are sometimes called watermills! For this watermill tutorial we're going to drill down how you turn in split time same direction because it's going to be super important for some other tricks we'll cover this week!
For review, here's last week's video on timing and direction for a refresher on split-time same direction and other timings: • Basic Poi Lesson: Timi...

It seems to be common for me to spend hours watching ur videos and practicing along but I rarely actually learn the trick on the first go. I then tend to think about it all night and BOOM... next day I pick up the poi and do it with little to no effort. I really appreciate the time you put into teaching each step so I can take it as slow as I need. Thank you!

  • @meditations-by-amazon-warrior

Thank you so much for these helpful tutorials!!!!! I’ve learned all my tricks just from watching your free CZcams videos! Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your amazing skills and passion!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

drex, you're king. I was always thinking that I'm the most untalented person for sports and everything about body and its control and motion... since I'm trainning poi spinning, I can feel my body much more. Can't stop wondering what I already learned. Thanks for such a good teacher from Slovakia!

I was having a hard time getting the Waterville/windmills to look right, something seemed off and my poi that was stalling was going almost in wheel plane than wall plane behind me. Took a week but I finally figured it out! Had to really concentrate on getting my poi to follow one another in front of me instead of stalling too long, it helped to bring them almost into together time while passing in front and balancing out to split time on either side. In case anyone else had the same issue, and kept hitting themselves when switching to the continuous watermill from a single beat reel

Drex just wanted to say I've watched so many of your videos learning how to spin and I really appreciate you making all these. Couldn't learn it without you!

Thank you for the lovely videos.
I am totally untalented and my kids (4 and 5 years old) almost always interrupt my training (e.g. try to steal my Poi to try themselves), but with the help of your videos I can master a few tricks. I hope it will be enough to make a show at a friends wedding in August 2023. Greetings from Germany

Instead of snapping fingers, you can skap your chest, clap your hands, make a specific pop noise with your mouth, or tap the mike if you are next to it. I recommend the last one, since it makes a huge spike that you can't miss.

I never knew this had a name! I stumbled on this motion years ago just messing around, and have always enjoyed the goofy feel of it, like Anita whipping her skirt around in West Side Story. :) Cool to know it's an actual move!

hey there! sorry if this is a dumb question, but where can I get the poi that you use in this video? im looking to upgrade, and am having a hard time finding something solid without being bogged down with options that I don't quite understand just yet....

Great tutorial. Learned the trick in about 10 minutes... How often, when spinning for fun, do the poi come in contact with your body on accident?

Might be a bit late to comment on the finger snapping, but you could just tap the microphone gently instead of clicking your fingers… 🤍
