- Today's lockdown lesson is on poi windmills! These are pretty similar to the watermills we covered yesterday but are performed up around your shoulders. In this poi windmill tutorial I'll guide you through two different approach to learning these poi tricks that help you change levels and get those poi moving around your head! One of my favorite beginner poi moves--learn how to spin this one with me!

I finally got this after so many hours, I was definitely overthinking it 😭 Thanks for your tutorials Drex, your hard work is very appreciated.
Windmills were probably the most difficult poi move to learn for me but I finally got it perfect thanks to these tutorials 👍🙌
I love your videos! My poi from Flowtoys is coming tomorrow I’m so excited to put what you’ve taught into work! Thank you!!
Something that worked really well for me when learning to do windmills, was transferring my corkscrew in to a windmill. That really helped me get a feel for windmills. Made me realize I already knew the technique, just had to transfer it
Thank you! You've taught me the windmills! Especially the second method worked so well! I learnt it within like 30 minutes :D wow
love your videos and have learned lots from you!was especially fun doing one of your classes back in the fall!
Top marks Drex! Helped me 10 fold since following your vid's
Great video, going to try both methods
Very well taught, thank you!!! Making quarantine better for sure
I just wanted to personally thank you so very much for the lessons. I havent had so much fun in a while. This is my new passion and I’m very grateful 🙏🙏🙏 thank you keep up the great work!
I'm so glad to hear that! Here's hoping your flow journey takes you to some amazing places externally as well as internally!
Hi Drex Ive been watching your tutorials. Youre amazing. thanks
Thx Drex! 😊
Your videos are amazing, so informative, zen and fun - thank you so so much !!!!!!!! I have advanced hoop skills and could do poi right to left but never understood the other way, and doing backwards etc. I'm following each beginner poi tutorial day by day and it's a life saver for movement meditation and keeping the brain and body active. The publishing quality of these videos are great too. Thank you for all you are creating and sharing. Yay to Drex you have the X Factor :) xox
I also love the drills you put in! Along with the timing. Either way your videos are one of the best I've found around!
Brilliant!!!
Thank you, its so cool!!!!
Thank you!
Thanks I’m gonna try this and help your algorithm.
Just signed up to your free 13 beginner tasters, exciting times!
You rock thank you!
This is insane because even before seeing the "russian method" I instantly recognized (seeing the windmill) that it is easier for me to think as if it was a tuck drop behind the shoulders, exactly as explained with that method, or in other words, you just have to think that one poi follows the other, slightly delayed. I think it is just more intuitive and easy to think like that for me!!
I really appreciate your videos and your art ! As a very beginner, some slow motion videos helped me a lot! Maybe you can do some analysis in slow motion as well? Best & Thanks!
Thanks for this tutorial and quarantine series Drex!
Your the besttt
How do you spin/ turn with windmills?
I just started but find these so hard and impossible , not sure why
What are your thoughts on 4oz poi?
Cannot get the behind the head part of windmalls or waterfalls
at 5:16 "sometimes called the portruvian man"?
Are there any poi spinning classes inn virginia? My brain and body wont click lol
Anyone have any tips for avoiding smacking yourself in the side of the head when spinning the poi behind your back during windmills? I can cross single poi front to back in both directions (clockwise & counterclockwise) with either hand fairly decently and consistently, but as soon as I try windmilling, I can't keep my planes straight and I clobber myself in the ears, mostly when trying the behind spins.
So I am an early learner ( so take this with a grain of salt) but behind my back I kind of have to face my palm up to get it flat along my back plane. Maybe that will help.
Like facing my palm towards my back plane.
OH! yeah, i learned the 'sheath the swords on your back' paradigm from GloFX's Chase the Sun tutorial, but i never realized you can use it for windmills!!! OMG, after 3 years i can finally do a windmill! i looked so cool, just like drex! ;D
but i thought on the bottom, you had to spin the following hand in front of your navel, not behind your back. i was like, 'drex, you're nuts!!' but i tried it, and it's SO MUCH BETTER that way! (yes, sorta commenting on multiple videos at once. oops.)
lastly, for visualizing the under-the-arm move... i always thought of that like a nunchuck move, where you rebound the 'chucks under your arm. though i guess that's only helpful for people who have worked with or watched a lot of nunchuk moves.
sorry , not this time . this aint wind . that's water .
