    Such a special kit. Beautiful. We are getting some post delivery complains and you can feel the mood for it is already lower than when this thing was announced. To me that is the spoiled kids effect, there is so much coming out that some people are moving on too quickly. What a special car it is by kyosho and the price just reflects that and it’s fine. We are lucky the original manufacturer and designer are still working on that sort of releases. Happy if they take a bit more of my money for delivering something unique, and if that let them stay in business longer. Let’s just appreciate the ultima JJ recreation. ❤

      I thought it was way overpriced for a 2WD. The Optima Pro will only be £320, so no idea why this was £400+. I waited and got one for £315. 😊

    Cannot believe it's 60years. Ultima has aged well. Great buildup/paint video. I like the signature decal on the shock tower upright and the car data on the body below the right side window, excellent. Personally I wish it didn't have yellow rims but hey, that's how original looked so ....

    given that many people say that there are so few parts in this kit, no one points out that this is precisely why it is so desirable, it is stripped down and lacks a topdeck. only the essentials to win a race are there. And yes, it is expensive in relation to how few parts are in the box (2wd and so on), but it is still cheaper than buying a standard Ultima and converting to a JJ.
    The new limited Optima mid looks to very expensive as well

    I love it Gavin but again the price is prohibitive to me here in Australia. I can afford a Kyosho dirt master Ultima. They're easy and a decent car for the money $379.00 AUD , not too bad really when a Tamiya HotShot rerelease us around $380AUD. I love Tamiya but Kyosho had way more racing credibility, or presence where Tamiya these days are kind of well an expensive plastic model that can be run and Kyosho are a real race buggy. But I still love Tamiya and have lots ,around 10. I think I will buy myself a dirt master now , as I've recently built a Hornet about 4 weeks ago. Love your work Gavin 👍👌

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  Před 10 měsíci

      Shocks are wrong as the rere kit has adjustable threaded shocks and the vintage has the adjustable friction collars. The rere shocks are better obviously but are different. Rear tyres are also wrong as is the rear tower. The rear tower was changed to make the body fit better so is understandable for a rere kit.

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  Před 10 měsíci

      Unfortunately, Associated came out with the vintage rere RC10's way too early before vintage RC collecting became a thing. Associated won't release any other vintage cars because it didn't sell enough units and it lost money. Things have changed massively and now the rere kits are just as valuable as the vintage buggies. A totally missed opportunity that has cost Associated a fortune in lost vintage rere sales over the last four years. Even Yokomo has realised this market is growing.

    • @randomrodent9124
      @randomrodent9124 Před 10 měsíci

      I noted that too, but I do not think the original Ultima had such a diff as shown here, so perhaps Kyosho now are using the same parts on several cars to reduce production costs?

    • @techspeedrc
      @techspeedrc Před 10 měsíci

      The ball diff has been around for some time as it was the first option part for the Optima, and they are onto the third version of it. Kyosho have just used the Optima diff pulley because there is the clearance for it in the Ultima gearbox, it saves the cost of producing a mould for one part that doesn't need to be changed, and they don't have to manufacture and distribute two diffs when the same one can be used for either. Shops just have to stock one diff for both cars instead of having to buy two different types.
      As for authenticity, the 87 Ultima used Thorp gears and ball diff, not Kyosho jnternals. Kyosho didn't have a ball diff until the release of the Turbo Ultima in 1988. This ball diff was unique to the Ultima as it used 48dp gears instead of the 0.8mod gears Kyosho used in everything else at the time.
