AGREE 1000%! My first car and start of my Tamiya obsession! ICONIC. If they made this with the specs you described I would buy one INSTANTLY. I wouldn't do a USB (do computers even have USB ports anymore?) - maybe a QR code that links to a special site with all of the video goodies and easter eggs you mentioned. That would save Tamiya some $ to put into a PROPER TECHNIGOLD MOTOR and BLISTERPACKS - which are MUST HAVES as you said. Also agree with some other comments here - a 50th anniversary hardcover coffee table book of all of the Tamiya box art plus the stories behind the illustrations/artists would be incredible.

Brilliant idea i remember us discussing this over a lovely steak a few weeks back haha!! Will have to see if i can come and support you somewhere along the way :) As others have said once into greater London and especially once past the a406 north circular you start getting into the high crime rate areas so just be mindful and keep vigilant! Some really epic big ideas the last couple of months and i have to say you are pushing those boundaries mate. I will have to up my game soon 😛

This is gonna be good...czcams.com/video/187trX0mo1o/video.html Are you splitting this into 2x 12 hour days, 3x 8 hour days, or 4x 6 hour days because there's no way anyone can do 24 hours straight, not even Forrest Gump! If you plan to mount a camera to your body, make sure it has amazing stabilization as all the bouncing from running will make that view very jarring to watch. If you have your family riding a bike or skateboard alongside you, they can get different camera angles of your entire ordeal! They could even fly a drone (if allowed) to follow and record you. Good luck and stay safe...you're absolutely bonkers in the best possible way! =)

If you don't need all the power, you might consider going for a big 3S battery, if such a thing is actually available...🤔

Love your vids your my fav rc channel. Good for your in trying to improve your health. You don’t realize how you take it for granted till it’s gone. I’m recovering from stage 4 lymphoma and it’s been hell always put your health first.

Very ambitious idea! How about some lights for the truck? Also, maybe other local RC youtubers would walk a few km with you... I understand there are some 6 and 8-wheeled monsters in the area that could carry supplies.

Route… I don’t know how familiar you are, but some stretches of the River Lea towpath in [Greater] London are a bit dodgy - particularly of late where we’ve seen people being victim of aggravated robbery for their push bike! I’m happy to share more details, if you’re interested. Better to have the knowledge and use it to help plan. :-)

Great idea, very ambitious. I'd say it'll take you nearer 36hours. Why not use a bicycle instead? A tandem would allow one person to drive the car and panniers would carry all the kit you and the car would need. Why not do it for charity as well?

24hrs might not be realistic for the distance; I think that's 4.4km/h without stops, which will be a fast walk for that long.

Don't forget you have to walk back🤣..nd don't the batteries cut out at low voltage? Will you get the same %.

Should have left the original battery in on way back, just to check if it drained quicker below the 50% mark. Should have got the complete run time. Great idea but rather you than me Gav 😂

If u put an 8s capable electronics and run 6 or 8s battery, u can get some really good run times. Especially if you are only putting around

That will be a great challenge. Watch out for those big black cats and the banshee 😮 You should make a trailer for the water, but then you would need to test the battery usage again.

Hi Gav, I think I'd like to join or follow you on this route Dude! SC Models is my local shop, and I've wanted run an RC car for 24hrs since I was a kid! I'm a long time subscriber and we've chatted at South Camb's a couple of times- so you would be shocked seeing my ugly mug ;) Maybe irrelevant, but I'm getting James May 'Barnford to Biddeford' vibes, which I loved :) If the old legs stand up to testing, I'd be well up for it, and would probably try to get some sponsorship for a charity... +1 on having plenty of water. Hydration pack isn't a bad idea. Maybe carry some electrolyte powder too. Exceptional footware is a must. Look after your health Gav...once it goes everything is harder. Probably preaching to the choir but what saves servos 90% of the time is setting up your EPA's. My X-Maxx still has it's original servo 5 years later (I've had the replacement waiting for 4 years lol) and I bash the crap out of it. I use the bluetooth module to do it, but can be done through the TX pressing buttons. ESC's are funny with Traxxas..I had the original X-Maxx ESC for 3 years without an issue then went Max-6. Still worked perfectly. Carry some spare TX batteries too.. Maybe look into doing the RC walk for a charity... I'm happy to donate too! I'd be terrible.... Any chance I'd get to have a quick blast and bash I'd take it lol..Big pile of dirt on the side of the road?? I'd send it hahahaha

Build you a trailer for it to haul the batteries so you don't have to carry them.

Interesting vehicle choice... the fastet name in rc lol seriously why not use a 1:8 crawler, they weight about the same and its easier to attach a trailer or handcart to it. Also crawlers are basically build for something like that..

My best run time vs mAh was 3h on the spot with 3000mAh nimh battery on my homebuilt crawler with TLT axles, 55t lathe motor. It died right as I got back to the parking lot. My longest run so far has been 6-7 hour trail run to a mountain top. Since I've now got a fatigue illness, I don't think I will be able to do long trail runs anymore. This will bonkers! I really hope you will do the whole trip without any issues of any kind. Also know this is not the longest rc trips as on a crawler forum there was a chap from Italy or Spain that did 100 miles or so over a weekend over a mountain pass. But your trip will most likely be the longest distance driven over 24 hours. Might contact Guiness record book to see if you can get the 24h record for longest driven rc 🙂

At least the car wil not sniff every bush and lamp post so you can keep a steady pace. Maybe dial in the throttle trim to give a steady pace.

Wow, this is a very interesting challenge and will definitely be following it closely. To provide a little more margin on your “miles per mah”, maybe you could lighten the vehicle a bit by removing the bumpers (you’re not bashing it) or using lighter wheels/tires. To help with night driving, maybe add a light kit (or just tape a flashlight/torch on)? Please stay safe. I think it would be prudent to plan rest stops along the route. Are you walking this alone or will someone accompany you?

That's one hell of challenge you've set your self there, my 19yr old daughter did the 170+ miles of the Viking Way earlier in the year for charity and that was a massive undertaking so over 60 miles in just 24hrs will be a real slog, best of luck to you and I'd advise investing in some serious footwear for it after seeing the blisters my daughter got.
