    Hello Dr Mukherjee, Is it possible that taking Ornidazole for a prolonged time, say 8 to 9 years, might cause neurotoxicity leading to Parkinsonism in older patients? This particular patient has IBS and the only thing that relieves him is an Antiprotozoal, so he's been taking it regularly.

    • @Dr.MayukhMukherjee
      @Dr.MayukhMukherjee  Před 8 měsíci

      Hope he/ she is doing well.
      Coming to your question - literature mentions that intake of ornidazole for years can cause encephalopathy but that is very rare. I would like to say that please consult your physician/ gastroenterologist before consuming any drug for such long duration.

    Can isotretinoin cause drug induced tremor in hands ? Took isotretinoin for 5-6 months and realised a little shakiness in my hands only in certain positions. Pls help. Will this go away? Thank u

    • @Dr.MayukhMukherjee
      @Dr.MayukhMukherjee  Před 2 lety +1

      Chances are very less that isotretinoin caused drug induced parkinsonism. It may be due to other causes / drugs which you might have been taking (if any). Again if you have stopped the drug then the problem should have subsided. If it is still persisting then please have a review with your physician.

      @@Dr.MayukhMukherjee thank u, usually how long do drug induced tremor take to subside? I have stopped the medication for 4 months but I am still feeling the tremors. It is not a resting tremor but just tremor when I raise my thumbs/finger against gravity. My physician has also put me through a copper test and awaiting results. The tremor is very benign and mild, what are the chances that it could be caused by copper ?

    • @Dr.MayukhMukherjee
      @Dr.MayukhMukherjee  Před 2 lety

      @@nck0912 It usually takes weeks not months to recover. Wait for the results and follow the guidance of your physician. Most of the cases tremors are benign in nature. But medicine is a too vast subject and we can not come into conclusion this way. Thank you for your query. All the best for the test results.

    Can pregabalin cause tremor if yes then what is solution?

    • @Dr.MayukhMukherjee
      @Dr.MayukhMukherjee  Před rokem

      Yes tremor is reported in 11% patients who are taking pregabalin. Best way to avoid a side effect is to stop taking the drug but that should be done after consultation with your physician. Thank you.

      of cause and effect is unsubstantiated. This type of drug is increasingly used to treat depression in Parkinson’s"

      You need to reduce the dose, if possible omit the offending drug under supervision of your physician. You may additionally require centrally acting anti-cholinergic medication. Please consult your treating doctor because it can be an emergency situation. Thanks.

      Hiatal hernia is a surgical problem. Please consult a general surgeon. If the surgical problem is corrected there won’t be any further need to take medication.
