Building a Yardistry YM12842 / Meridian Greenhouse purchased from Costco.

- In this video, I assemble a Yardistry model YM12842 / Meridian greenhouse that was purchased from Costco. Added electrical, water, lights, exhaust fan, exhaust fan controller. I am considering adding small water tank for thermal mass and adding solar components. I did not keep exact time of the build. Here are the estimates:
- Base/Foundation 8 hours
- Greenhouse 16 hours
- Lights/fan/vent/misc 8 hours
- Conduit/trench/electrical 8 hours
- Gravel/Weedmat/Edging No clue :)

Beautifully done. Thanks for the instructional video. I will be tackling thus job as soon as time and will take me all winter and hopefully done it spring. I think I can only invest an hr maybe 2 @ max a week. But I can't wait for it to come out.
Thanks for the kind comments. My construction process was slow as I chipped away at typically only an hour or so each morning before going to work. It is fun to notice that at the beginning of the video the garden was just planted and by the end it is full grown :)

Thanks for the kind comments. Was not too bad of a project and the instructions were better than expected. Only a couple of stumbling points. As most projects go, this one had a lot of feature creep :) I need to add a little water storage and pump system.

The opening I cut was approximately 12-3/8".
Can you tell me what lengths you cut 4x4's please

Hi Dan, I just finished staining each piece and then assembling the Yardistry greenhouse. My question is regarding your vent fan. I was looking at doing the same with the WiFi inkbird controller. How does the powered vent work in that location? I ran 12/2 line as well with 20a gfci breaker. I also thought of putting the powered vent in the location that the current passive vent is in and then adding smaller vents on each side of the door. Would like to know your experience as I have power coming up same location as you and can easily pop powered vent next to plug like you did. I am in CT planting zone 6.

I believe that fan location is working fine. However, I did not make any measurements before the fan installation :) It certainly pulls out a lot of hot air. That was a good idea to stain everything prior to assembly. I should have done that. Can not think of anything else about the build.
I am working on a system to heat water with solar panels for heating during the winter. I bought two used solar panels and a 20 gallon water drum.

Thank you for this video. You did a fantastic job. My wife bought this greenhouse and I just finished the structure. I am on the running outlets and lights phase. I am going to copy your installation and put an overhead 4 foot light and an outdoor light above the door. I am working out the best way to run the romex. How did you run the power from the outlet to the switches? I am also going to copy your fan idea, just debating whether a reversible fan would be more functional. Any issues with not using conduit everywhere? I live in Rhode Island and I am a little nervous about exposed wires. Thank you again.
Your welcome :) I continued the conduit up to under the shelf. At that point, the Romex wire is is exposed. IMO, the exposed Romex is fine where it is not subject to getting a lot of abuse. The reversible fan would be interesting to experiment with. I am thinking about adding some type of thermal mass in the greenhouse to reduce the thermal swings between night and day. I have the fan start at 90F and that seems to work but is getting pretty cold at nights right now.
We have the same shed kit and getting ready to state clearing a spot. Any problem with wind, should we tie it down?
I would definitely anchor it down. I used a dozen 4 inch construction screws to anchor the greenhouse to the base frame detailed in the video. I hope the 6 cement piers keep mine anchored :)

Yes. I used approximately quantity 16 of a 4" long construction screw.
How long did the project take you? Not including digging for electrical or electrical work.
Including the base , estimate is 16 - 20 hours.
Its good, It would have been great if windows were not tinted.
This actually looks rather easy to build out of 2x4 and ply boards and plastic paneling and solar panel powered led entrance light as well as a ventilation fan that is connected to a RHU and temp sensor and plug. And pay way way less I love watching videos to recreate out of wood and sweat.
Probably possible to beat the price by a little bit but would take time to find all the parts. I am currently working on a solar panel powered heating system for the greenhouse. I might make a video about it.
@@DanPattenAudioG33k that is easy work finding brackets and installing them is no excuse to spend 10X more on a item that turns out the same or better u did jive on the garden though and rock laying.
The “windows” are doubly ply polycarbonate sheets. They’re $100 each and you’d need about 6 to cover this exact shed. You’re high if you think you can build this cedar greenhouse for 10% what it costs to buy (you’re claiming it would cost you $135 pre tax in case you’re as bad at math as you are cost estimates). You could MAYBE shave 15% if you really went for it, but for $200, I’d just save my back and my time buying it pre cut and stained in this pack. Plus I get a warranty. Good luck getting a warranty on your build lmfao 🤣
@@dogbots159 shipping that is not cheap either and ya maybe not that much less but definitely a lot less. And secondly you can beef things up personalize them better doing a build it yourself. Some materials you could cheap out on and some I would spend more on. But the point is most Men that work with there hands would rather build it then buying a pre built TV stand practically and those old TV stands would always fall apart.

Time spent on taping polycarbonate panels was longer.. But there was nothing about assembling greenhouse in this video. What is the purpose of this video?

I agree Was hoping for more on the walls, roof and door being assembled and installed. Was more about his electric ability. Turned out nice tho. Mine will be delivered tomorrow
