This was awesome! Snapped a belt washing football uniforms. Got an estimate for $400 to fix. Ordered a belt on Amazon for about $30 and my wife and I replaced it. I am 100% NOT mechanical but this video made it super easy!

  • @ambyrhawkeshadowsinger691

Thanks so much, Bill! This video, and the one about diagnosing the noises helped me fix my dryer. One of the rollers wouldn't spin which wore down the metal in the pulley wheel and snapped the belt.
I didn't have the correct angle to get in the back hole with my right hand, and definitely not enough space for two hands. And I didn't have enough strength for pushing with my left hand to thread the belt the way you showed. But I thought through it.
I looped the belt under the motor from the right side and under to the left side of the pulley. Then, with my left hand, I lifted the pulley all the way up with my last two fingers, grabbed the belt to the right of the motor with my thumb, and squeezed (and grunted) until I got it slipped around the left side of the pulley wheel! Same result, but I looped around the motor and then the pulley rather than the pulley and then the motor like you did.

  • @tnelan
    @tnelan Před 3 lety +4

This video is awesome. It helped me fix my dryer when the belt broke. One thing, though -- the idler pulley spring on my unit was insanely stiff and I couldn't get the belt over the drive wheel. So I took the spring out -- its super easy to remove -- and stretched it with a set of pliers in each hand. That gave me the extra stretch to get the belt on.

Bill, thank you very much for the well done video. I first saw your one about "Samsung Dryer Won't Start or Spin - Troubleshooting and Repair Guide" and was "happy" to see a broken belt when I took off the top panel. Only $8.64 and 24-hours later I a replacement from Amazon. My spouse and I worked together on the project. Removal of everything was very easy. I had a few stumbles on putting things back but nothing major. If I tried it again I would get it done in less than 30-mins. The biggest challenge was getting my gas dryer back on the periscope vent. We also cleared out a great amount of lint build up before the blower motor. We feel much safer now and we suspect that clothes will dry faster as well.

This is the what made and makes CZcams great. Last year I fixed a different issue and now I am replacing the belt. Without CZcams I would 100% have broken the drying trying to take it apart. It also helps a TON to see how the belt goes on visually. Thank you. A thumbs up for sure and a Thank you. A world where we all fix our own stuff (when we can) is a better place. And then call in the "big guns" for tough stuff and pay them for expertise. YOU ROCK.

Bill, thank you so much for providing an easy to understand, step-by-step video! Today, my son and I changed the belt on our Dryer within and hour and a half. What an accomplishment for both of us! Like another poster, we did struggle with the belt tightening. When my son tried to put the belt on, he didn't pull hard enough and thought at first, oh no! the belt is the wrong size because it did not tighten up. There was a very depressing moment. Then I helped him by holding up the "wheel," while my son wrapped belt around other wheel and that did the trick. We plugged in the dryer and held our breath. All good!!! Thanks again!

This video *really* helped my Uncle and I fix a Kenmore dryer that is the exact same. We referenced this video multiple times not only for easier disassembly but also for your excellent camera work *inside* the dryer. It's such a small hole to work through. That video footage of inside the dryer was essential in us doing this job. This is the second time we've been in this dryer. The heating element went on it a couple of years back and we replaced that. If you're able, doing it yourself really saves tonnes of money. We've always been a do it yourself family. My Grandfather was a farmer so that's where that comes from I think.
Anyway, thanks a million! I'm sure I'll find more of your videos useful in the future. 👍

No belt seen, broken belt, easy fix! $39.95 at the parts store in town, or if you have a day, for $41 on Amazon there's a kit that replaces everything, belt, 4 drum rollers, idle-pulley assembly & spring for belt tension. Except I did a stack mount dryer on top of washer with zero clearance and it's a B to perfectly line up the vent. Very happy I attached an extra long cord originally, I was able to set the dryer on a 1ft tall wooden box and didn't even need to unplug the dryer from behind the washer... Thanks Bill! You just saved me $200 in repairs. I found the belt on Amazon for $9 and followed your instructions. Worked like a charm.

Your clear, step-by-step instructions were easy to follow and gives a lay person the confidence to tackle the repair job, after a quick purchase of the requisite belt from Amazon. The most difficult part was getting the belt on to the two pulleys - nearly sprained my left arm, operating at an awkward angle fighting against the pulley's spring. FWIW, my dryer model is DV448AE/XAA and I used belt part 6602-001655. Thanks again - my wife is super happy :-)

This video gave me everything I needed to replace the dryer belt in my Samsung dryer. A side note is I heard a clicking sound after replacing the belt. I took off the three plastic ribs inside the dryer drum and found a dime in one of them. Belt replaced and clicking sound solved. Thanks for the help...

It's 10:30 pm on a Thursday night and my wife emerges from the laundry room saying, "Umm, the dryer is not drying the clothes. Can you take a look?" Since I had to work all day Friday and it was the start of a 3 day weekend, I knew I had to diagnose the problem that night and get the part on Friday. Your video saved the day! I dismantled that Samsung dryer and diagnosed a bad heating element. Luckily a local parts supplier - Ideal Appliance Parts in New Orleans, LA had the part in stock!
    Thank you, sir!

Thanks! My son and I followed the directions and were successful in fixing the dryer! Only suggestion is to warn about different screws and keeping track. Great video!

**TRICK FOR REATTACHING BELT** My model had only a small circle cut out in back so I could not get two hands in and I couldn't get the leverage to push up on the spring while wrapping the new belt around with one hand. Soooo... I took apart the dryer again and used a clamp to secure the pulley in an upright position then put the drum and belt back on, and it was much easier to wrap the belt around everything without having to keep the pulley up. Everything else in this video was great. Could not have done any of this without the video. Thanks!

Thanks for this video pal. I'm a new homeowner so all appliance issues are new to me too. When my dryer stopped spinning I thought I was done for and had to buy a new one. Very thankful for your tutorial, when I'm not lazy I'll post when I fix my dryer. 😅

Bill, thanks for the great video's!! There is a spring steel clip that holds the motor in place and apparently if you overload the dryer that clip will bend and finally give way. I bent the clip back to what I thought should be its original shape and like magic the drum started spinning again. Thank you very much for taking the time to put all the diagnostic videos together.

Thank you for this informative and detailed video. When our dryer stopped working, my husband wanted to buy a new dryer, and let's buy a new washer while were at it. I was able to change out my dryer belt completely by myself, and my dryer works great for only the cost of the dryer belt and my time. Thank you so much for posting such an excellent video!

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this video.
We had a mouse crawl into the dryer and then die. I won't describe the smell. You can only imagine.
Got the mouse out, and thoroughly cleaned the dryer to remove the stench (Baking soda, peppermint oil, lysol and bleach (at separate times) did the trick.
However, when my wife was cleaning the inside of the drum, she must've tried moving the drum the wrong direction, because she heard a snap.
Thanks you your video, I was able to confirm that the belt came off the pulleys, and successfully (amidst some colorful words) get it reattached, and now our dryer is back to its pre-mouse condition.
And more importantly, I"m not out a few hundred bucks for a weekend repair call.
    Thanks again!

Hey Bill. Thanks a ton for this video brother. My son and I were able to change the drive belt on our dryer because of it. There are no appliance repair folks around these parts so it is either fix it yourself or buy new. Your videos saved us a lot of money.

thank you so much! Being a single women home owner, this was a big help and saved me several hundreds of dollars! it was $8 fix and easy to do. The only thing I would suggest that somehow to say which belt is needed. I bought one at Lowes that I was told was what I needed and even some of the websites sent me to but it wasn't long enough! The one I bought was 1/4'x 88" what was needed is a 5/16x 92 big difference. I ended up ordering it through Amazon so I had a disassembled dryer for 2 days but once it came in 1 hour and it was running and put back together.
