Queen didn't just rock the music world in their prime. They smacked the living sh!t out of it...and we loved every minute of it!
So well said, man.
then he died of the gay virus
gg no re
Hell ya we dad! My first concert was Queen, I was 12 yrs old!
In the video a bunch of naked girls are riding bicycles, Queen had to pay for all the bicycle seats😅Freddie was watching the TOUR de France bike race and wrote the song.
This was a double A side single with "Fat Bottomed Girls" of their "Jazz" album. If you remember toward the end of that song Freddie sings ""Get on your bikes and Ride"!
Yup
Believe it or not I kind have a crush on the "Jazz" Album, especially "Fun It" sung by Taylor, even though Jazz wasn't intended to be the genre of "Jazz". It was an old school "line". I remember saying to people: "Don't give me that jazz!" aka BS. I'm freakin'old.
@@tehmcfogarty6813 Jazz is one of their best albums. Had it on cassette when it first came out.
@@MW-ni6zp No way!! JAZZ is in the top 3 for me! I listened to it soooo many times on on my commute on the subway in NYC on my “cool” SONY WALKMAN. Damn I actually miss those days.
You have to actually watch BICYCLE RACE the OFFICIAL of course.
Amazing at how four men can harmonize so well together and sound like a entire choir.
👍👍👍👍👍❤
"Queen & Led Zeppelin just always keep it interesting." Exactly! One of the many reasons they're both truly legendary!!💙☮💙
And elo 😁 deep purple
Among my favourites.
Words Brad & Lex used to describe this song. Interesting, different, simple but hard, surprising, tough, talent, fun, and musically rich. All apply and are correct. Fun reaction loved it!
You are so right about this band having some exceptional brains.
Brian May, founding member, guitarist, song writer, and producer of the band Queen, is also a Doctor of Astrophysics. Seriously, the guy is officially a genius.
Not to mention one of the greatest guitar players ever born ..
You also have an engineer and a DDS
One thing I loved, is for a long time after this song queen fans used to bring their own bicycle bells to the concert and they be playing then they’re in his part
Queen made a lot of different music in their early days. Songs like Stone Cold Crazy and Sheer Heart Attack were a little mix between heavy and punk with a rock flavour. Funny fact are that Sheer Heart Attack were the title of their third album from 1974 but the song itself was released on their sixth album News of the World in 1977. In between came their classic albums A Day at the Races and A Night at the Opera. Actually titles of two old Marx Brothers movies. Also check out Tie Your Mother Down
In the later days too
If you want to really rock with Queen, try “Dragon Attack”. You’ll have to listen to it four times. Once for each member and their awesomeness on that song.
That's my favorite of all their songs. That bass line is killer!
Hell yes. Their best song.
Yessss!
OMG. Yes.
Yes. Dragon Attack is probably the bestest Queen song that wasn't a big hit. Although I really like Death on Two Legs and Tenement Funster, as well.
The ringing is a bunch of bicycle bells. Love this song; one of the first Queen songs I ever heard.
3:46 love Lex being kid-like here.
That's the feeling I get from this song, remembering a time where I couldn't care less about world events, politics, or what have you. I just wanted to ride my bicycle with my friends, and sometimes race.
You guys should react to…
Queen - Innuendo
🎸🤘
Easily their hardest song. Good too, last album thouh.
Can’t wait 💕
Queen's "BICYCLE RACE" is usually played AFTER "FAT BOTTOM GIRLS"
There are 2 really good backstories to these 2 Songs. 1 is kinda long, but it's how & what "INSPIRED" Brian & Freddie to each write one & a "PERSONAL" backstory. 🤫😉
Sincerely,
Terry (Teh) Anne Fogarty a.k.a. ORIGINAL FAT BOTTOM GIRL from O.H.B., QUEENs, NYC, in OK Now 😳
That was the exact reaction Queen wanted you to have😜 it’s supposed to be a fun song
This song had to be a bet.
"Hey Queen, I bet you cant write a good song about a bicycle."
"Well be right back."
-Queen.
That's why Queen was such a great band.
In the 70's more Queen songs were progressive utilizing mixed genres, changing time-signatures and both abrupt and flowing transitions because progressive music was more accepted and viable then. If you listen to a Queen Album from the 70's it's all over the place... News of the World for instance - songs like We are the champions, sleeping on the sidewalk, who needs you and melancholy blues.
The decade started on the heels of the 60's and pop/rock artist were intent on musical integrity and complexity... many artist were composing 8 to 45+ minute songs - ELP, Yes, Genesis, Tull, King Crimson, Rush, etc... Then again you'd find a huge variety of styles because the old producers did not know what would sell well and what would not... so they allowed artist more freedom and took more chances.
i.e. Established bands even the likes of Led Zep who started out as a blues rock band, crossed into many styles and genres... such as The Song Remains The Same, The Rain Song, Down By The Seaside, Kashmir, Fool In The Rain, etc...
Frank Zappa explained this really well, Toward the end of the decade more producers were replaced and marketing departments were expanded so labels took less chance.
Queen was a hit/single kind of band
most progressive bands weren't
Queen had an eclectic style like the Beatles.
These kids waiting for more was great.
Back in the day we had bells on our bikes to “officially” announce our presence behind someone, similar to a car horn (some did have horns on their bikes. Lol). On concert days all local bicycle shops sold out of bells as people bought and used them in the audience during the performance of this song. (Audience participation!😎)
I haven't owned a bike in a long time but don't they still have bells on them?
@@frankj10000 I suppose they can but I haven’t seen them on kids bike in a while and my grandkids have scooters instead of bikes (soon to be 10 and 6 year’s old) so I really don’t know.
They're pretty trendy and useful now, made a huge comeback - ding ding ding!!!
When I was a little kid and didn't know how to ride a bike yet, my older brother and his friends would terrorize me by riding circles around me singing this song. "I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike" knowing damn well I couldn't ride a bike. Ice wholes.
Cork-soakers
Once you dip your toes in prog rock, you can't get enough of it. It's so adventurous. Think-outside-the-box-seventies
Another 70s bicycle song is "My White Bicycle " by Nazareth. And for roller skates you can check out "Brand New Key" by Melanie.
Queen songs don't come under the one banner, they can do every genre of music, would still like to hear 'spread your wings' written by John Deacon the bassist..
I second the vote for “Spread Your Wings”, that wonderful John Deacon- penned masterpiece !
I guess that kind of thinking comes with the fact not growing up with all different kinds of music. E.g., if you grow up in an era where rap and hiphop and that is the only type of music (assuming the term 'music' applies to that genre) you hear I guess it is hard to differentiate other types of music. You wouldn't think that one band can make different sounding songs.
"Tie Your Mother Down" is a Queen rocker. "You're My Best Friend" and "Spread Your Wings" are great slightly slower rocking tunes. "Flash" is from the 'Flash Gordon' movie soundtrack, of which Queen provided the whole movie soundtrack. The older the Queen songs, the better. Their 70s tunes are their best.
OMG!!!! I’m pretty sure you can find it on CZcams, but it’s a must to find the official video for this song. I won’t give any spoilers but you won’t believe what you’re seeing😳 Such an epically hysterically perfect example of the magic that is Queen🥰🤣🤣
I've watched at least 100 of your videos in the past two weeks.
I think Brad low key loves this song.
There's a good point being made in a fun way. For those of us who take to it, riding a bike is not only a means of transport, it's a zone to go to and escape all of the bullshit.
I was a teen when this came out and we all thought it was insane. It still is. After he lists all the things he doesn’t want, he says all he want is a bicycle, like he’s some kind of simpleton.
Watch the video. Queen's eclectic songs are the result of 4 talented musician/writers all collaborating to produce the final result.
It was great watching you watch this. Not that he's not a genius, but I'd like to recommend that you guys consider doing a Queen song that *isn't* sung by Freddie. Maybe '39, or I'm in Love With my Car?
To me, Brad described musical genius in this one. When we think that a song is so creative that it could not have come from any other brain other than it's composer's, because it is so unlike any other song, *that* is a very hard thing to do using the same 12 notes as everyone else. Most of the songs that accomplish that feat are famous.
I’m in love with my car, straight up after Lazing on a Sunday afternoon. Like on the album.
They made a "video" video of this song that would of been priceless to see both of you to react too. Either way great song and reaction.
I think the song is a lament to the lost innocence of childhood. The carefree days when learning to ride a bicycle, the most complicated thing in early childhood. Then school began, we grew up, and our innocence was lost, Yes?
Every member of Queen has written a #1 song
Queen band is worth listening to the song "Mustapha" from the album "Jazz" (1978)
Queen is undefined!!! I'm glad you enjoyed this song. It is sampled on many local radio stations with contests of winning a bicycle. Oh and and getting back in touch with your Youth. C'mon!!! You can't be the feeling of loosing yourself in childhood and forgetting about all that Adult BS. That is what this song represents to myself...
Get Down Make Love is cool also. Killer Queen, tribute band is coming to my town in Pa. Soon. Hard to imitate Freddy. A fun song and many to come. My small grandson use to love this song. He's now 19.
The thing with Queen is you have a new favorite song every week.
Bicycle Race was on the album Jazz. It was delivered with a poster of naked women on bikes about to start a Bicycle Race. The poster were not included in the United States. Today people would probably call it politically incorrect. If you check out the album on Queen's Wikipedia there are a copy under the release notes
I buy my album in canada and i have the poster
I still have the poster on my wall. (don't judge me)
The original video features the nude women racing.
LMAO!!! "Where do you pause this song?" Um Brad,... you don't!!!!
Great reaction. This song is really underrated. Makes me smile everytime. It's like a FU to responsibility. He just wants to ride his bicycle, dangit.
apologies if this was already posted... The greatest thing about the album was that it came with a 1x3 ft poster of naked woman all riding bicycles. (me can see some of this in the official video.)
It's nearly Christmas guys so how about checking out 'Thank God It's Christmas' and 'A Winter's Tale'. Both great Queen Christmas songs.
In the movie "How High" they use a snippet of this song. It's somewhere where Red and Meth mess with or escape from the campus rent-a-cop. 😂 I think Red Man steals dudes bike lol
this one is written by Freddie who had the idea when he saw The Tour de France a famous bicycle race :) kiss from France
Haha, glad you enjoyed the ride!
When Jazz was released, the local bar held tricycle races on the dance floor...still have the album from that night. Still married to fat bottom girl too!
Total earworm tune. Be singing it all day 🙃
Loved this reaction… oh, Lex you are such a “rock chick”…lol 😂! Wishing you both all the best with the channel😊
I am completely convinced that this song was the inspiration for SOAD’s sound.
Re: "Bohemian Rhapsody pt. 2" - I'd say that's "Innuendo". Similar length, structure, range of styles, etc.
This song I feel like is when Queen felt like "we can make a song about ANYthing we just do what we want and who cares what anyone else is doing and what the critics will approve of
Notice the cross reference between this song, where they sing "fat bottomed girls they'll be riding today", and "Fat Bottomed Girls", where they sing "get on your bikes and ride".
You can never EVER pigeon hole Queen into just one type of music!
They are like no one else and no one are like them!
They are simply QUEEN!!
OMG Lex is me!! I love Queen and Led Zeppelin. What is funny is I was born in late 70s and hated my parents music...which was Rush...Queen..Led..all the greats. It wasn't until I was in my teens and adult years that I found myself really loving classic Rock. Who is also one of my all time favorites, I would like to recommend the Tommy album.
I love this channel and revisiting so many great songs that I have now come to appreciate. I love watching reaction both of your reactions to these songs and reading the comments section. I bounce from comments to your reactions so it seems to take me double the time to get through on video, but so worth it!!
The Metallica cover of Queen's Stone Cold Crazy is awesome af.
Brad, not only is this song all over the place, Queen's entire catalog is all over the place. You always know it's them, but very few of their songs sounded alike.
yeah, one of Queen's fun songs, has an 'interesting' video to it. Hawkwind's classic Silver Machine was also about a bicycle.
OK, one more thought. If you want to take a deep dive into Queen's diverse sounds, check out Seaside Rendezvous, Good Old Fashion Lover Boy, Bring Back that Leroy Brown, Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon, and The Millionaire Waltz.
You guys have just rejuvenated this song for me - I love seeing you guys enjoy this stuff!
Queen was the master of rock opera.
Queen had a lot of 'fun' songs. That's all this is... a fun song. Take it for that. Good music, fun lyrics.
These people from Queen are very crazy.... And they are wonderful
I love you guys beyond belief, but Brad you NEVER stop songs in the right spot🤣😬
This is so much fun...come on...it's great...hahahahahah Let's go back to childhood and ride bicycles and forget all the heavy adult stuff? So creative.
"Your brain has to be different different!" Love it!
If only everybody could have their own Lex. No offence Brad, you’re great and everyone can see the love between the two of you. Best reactions.
She is a treasure. I think she's lucky to have Brad. They are a cute couple.
Never a dull day with Freddie...
Please react to Queen - Mustapha and also Queen - Get Down Make Love....these two will blow Your minds!)))
How do you think of a song like this?
Freddie says it in the lyrics: ‘You say coke, I say cane’ Lol
Nice shirt Brad & greetings from Tampa…Go Bucs! LFG!
Freddie is a vocal genius
Freddy grew up in Zanzibar the son of Parsi-Indians who fled the Zanzibar uprisings and moved to England.
That is all Freddie and Brian! Opera/Rock/Progressive/Country never the same sound.
i think lex could jumpstart a car wow her energy 🤪🤣😂
I grew up in the 70's. Queen was a massive hit. I had three or four of their studio albums. Many different styles.
"Tie Your Mother Down" is an underrated rocker, but I think you will like it.
People would take bicycle bell to their concerts (in Europe) and everyone would ring them during this song.
More and more and more...and more Queen please x
Love your reaction at the end :D
the song has a very deep meaning
Dragon Attack by Queen is very underrated. Give it a listen.
You gotta check out Queen - Keep Yourself Alive!
I remember the first time I heard the bells… blew my mind.
That is why Queen are the most versatile rock band of all time. They made songs that you wouldn't even think of. Only thing missing from this reaction was the video. Still an awesome song about just wanting to ride a bicycle. Queen are legendary, music will live on forever. One absolute awesome song from Queen to react to is Liar, it's longer than Bohemian Rhapsody & has so many changes in it that makes it very interesting indeed.
You may want to check out these Queen songs: Killer Queen, Death On Two Legs, and I'm In Love With My Car. There are much more interesting songs as well. Queen II on side black (2nd side) is amazing.
You should see the official video of this song 😈
This was the B side to Fat bottomed girls...or I believe a double A side single. The song was written by Freddie, inspired by watching the 18th stage of the Tour de France in 1978. They passed Montreux where the band were recording Jazz in the Mountain Studios. Such a playful song. Freddie would also be on the shoulders of Darth Vader in concerts or Superman.
Queen "who wants to live forever" live wembley 1986 is epic
A copy of Queen's Greatest Hits has been in every car I ever owned because it would keep all generations happy. Nothing like a back seat of kids singing along to every track! This was always a favorite. Fun reaction!
Please do "Death on Two Legs" by Queen.
It's wild that this has been sort of forgotten except among true fans. Weird in ALL the best ways.
Would love to watch Brad tearing his hair out about the "lyrical meaning" of '39! 'Millionaire's waltz' Would be interesting too. 😊
Hey guys I have a gray queen song for you and it’s called “death on two legs”
I love the bass in this song, so fun.
Those weren't x-mas bells, they were bicycle bells.
the verse "Fat Bottom girls they'll be riding today so look out for those beauties oh yeah" is a cross reference to the song Fat Bottom Girls where near the end of that song Freddy shouts "Get on Your Bikes and Ride"
Man both your reactions the biz great to see such glee & enjoyment from an ace song singer Freddy amazingly good singer
"My Queen journey's been interesting..." LMAO... This old guy here has enjoyed watching the journey. Well done.
Bycycle riding was a euphemism for a LSD Trip
Brad finally nails one! "Musically rich." So perfectly describes Queen's music. The precision vocal harmonies, the amazing guitar playing, the sound effects, the layers and layers of sounds, the variety of styles. They are amazing.
As a promo for this album, they actually put on a nude bicycle race. There was a poster of a photo taken during it, with lots of naked girls, that came with the album. Only it was hard to find one that still had it in there; teenage boys were fond of slitting the cellophane that covered the album and sliding out that poster with all the nude women on it!
Good old fashioned lover boy is MEGA CLASS as well.....
I request "I Want it all"
