Last year, when it came to choosing between the Sony Wh-1000XM2 and the Sony H.ear On 2 it all basically boiled down to fit and comfort. Cause even though the 1000XM2 had some really great performing tech… their ear cups were very cramped. Where as the ear cups on the H.ear On 2 were much more spacious and the gap in performance between these two head phones was very narrow. The 1000XM2’s obviously had the superior Active noise cancelation… but everything else like sound quality, battery life, and features were pretty much the same. But now, the gap in performance between the H.ear On 2 and the New Sony WH-1000XM3 is significantly wider and more importantly, the 100XM3 are now more comfortable then the H.ear On 2. So heres how the new Sony 1000XM3 performs against the Sony H.ear On 2, and why I just flat out wouldn’t pick up the H.ear On 2’s right now.

I can answer both of you guys's questions: first of all, I have them and their actually isn't that much sound leak and I find the bass have a nice thump if you put it up in the eq and it doesn't really overpower the highs and mids
Me too! In arena mode and with extra bass it sounds just as if I was on a concert - as that's my favourite sound, I LOVE that these are able to give the feeling back.

Love the sound signature of Sony M3's but the most amazing feature for me is the ability to adjust the cabin pressure during flights when reaching high altitudes and when landing, by activating the atmospheric optimizer of the headphone. I had used it for a couple of international flights and the pain of cabin pressure on my ears, immediately goes away. It's so helpful for travelers like me.
I picked up the H900N's for $180.00 new. I have the 1000XM3's for my TV room already and wanted wireless headphones for my PC room. The H900N is a much better buy than the 1000XM3. Yes, the 1000XM3 sounds a little better, but not the gulf that was mentioned in this video. I purchased my 1000XM3's for $280.00. They are slightly better in the things that matter to me, but not $100 better from my perspective. I don't really use noise cancelling for my in home usage though and the 1000XM3's are quite a bit better for noise cancelling. I guess it depends on your needs. When I am not judging sound of new products (just using the products from day to day), I can barely notice a difference when I switch from my PC head phones to my TV headphones in both fit and sound quality.

@@artisbernats7849 It's not really about different rooms, but more about different devices. These can only pair to one device and re pairing every time I switch devices (2 TV's, Phone, Nintendo Switch, etc). I rather just have headphones for each device instead of having to pair constantly. Do you re pair every time you switch devices? That seems so frustrating.
How is the sound leak? Can other hear the hear.on through the headphones easily?
In Sweden the hear on 2 are now on sale for about 160 dollars while the xm3 costs around 400 dollars so the hear on 2's were just a no brainer for me

I had both. Gave the XM3s to my father. So there's that. Fancy controls and NC aside, the 900s had a slightly better sound to me.
I got the wh900ns a year ago for 150$ and I recently got to try out the 1000mx3s. Though the mx3s do sound a bit better and they do have better NC, it's not worth the extra 100 - 150$ for me.
Interessting… For me the XM3 sounds a little bit muddy in the vocal-range. Surprisingly the wh900n sounds much clearer and more natural even with the smaller price tag. The ANC is way better on the XM3, but sound quality is top priority for me.
You can change sound quality on the xm3s, especially with Samsung phones

so what sound testing and under what conditions, and what high bitrate codecs and with what phones did you use to determine your opinion, besides the blanket statement of "the 1000mx3 significantly better"? i really didnt hear any real audio comparisons done in the review.
In my country (New Zealand) you can literally buy (almost) 3 sets of the H.ear on 2s or one set of the 1000XM3s. I know what I'm going for sure.

are you using the high end AptX HD or LDAC codec built into them or are you one of the unfortunate people stuck with an iphone that uses the basic ancient bluetooth codec? if so, get a new model android phone. they should all support AptX HD.

I watched two review videos of yours which talks about H.ear on 2 and 1000xm2 and xm3 and I’m going to buy the H.ear on 2 as I have a concern on the price tag where in NL 1000xm3 at the moment is about 320 EUR and H.ear On 2 is about 220 EUR, so it’s a huge difference for me where I live in Sri Lanka. I’m gonna get the headphone delivered in hand of a friend who’s coming from NL.
Here in the UK the Hear on 2s cost £139 whilst the xm3s cost £329 so I think the Hear on 2s are still good value for money.
Used the Sony Hear on 2 headphones for about 6 months, and while the sound was decent, I had to keep readjusting the headpones about every ten minutes, because I would get jaw pains from the clamping force.
The 1000xm3's cushions are much better than the Hear on 2 cushions. After going to a store to try on the 1000xm3, the most major difference in comfort was the small cushion that would cover up the drivers.
I have big ears, and my ears would always hit the drivers of the Hear on 2 headphones. Now, my ears would hit the cushions on the 1000xm3, and I bought the headphones within minutes after.
I have both XM3 and H.ear On 2 and I was actually surprised by how good the H.ear on 2's stack up. It's a good value purchase right now, especially considering Sony didn't announce H.ear on 3's at CES.

Ear on, 150 USD equivalent, 1000xm3 350 USD equivalent. There better be a huge difference. For the trip to work on the tube. For the train or flight... The ear on is still more than decent. I do feel absolute ambient sound blocking is uncomfortable anyways.
Recently bought a pair of M3's, great sound and noise cancellation. My only complaint so far, I use them at the gym they are loose and fall off my head if I lay on my back.

Bass is more in xm3 , but does it means it's better than h900n .. for me xm3 sounded muddier than h900n which has balanced sound .

Not an issue with M3 imho. The new update fixed mic issues people were having. People think I sound better on the M3, than the actual phone itself. Rocking XS right now.
The best headphone is Sony MDR 1A or MDR 1am2 . HI res phones with frequencies from 3hz to 100khz. Deep bass, no battery and you can find them for good price!
I tested both today. H900N is MUCH better and much cheaper.

Hear on 2 ear pads last about 6 months. the stitching unravels and any moisture (sweat) accelerates the destruction.

I just going to ask this to anyone watching this that might see this. I have the 950N1 right now. Got them for $112. (Employee discount from a company I will not disclose.) I love the option of bass but I could never imagine going as far as it lets me with the bass and the sound quality is the best I've ever heard from a headphone. But the battery is low and it gets so hard even in the winter for me right now. However, the Sony 1000XM3 is at $183 for me and I'm thinking about getting it. Should I return the 950 for the 1000.

@@WatchWhileHigh I loved the bass on the 950. However the bass was too much and the massive ear cuffs were so.. hot... But I took the risk and dived into the 1000mx3. These are the best headphones i've ever worn. Active noise cancelling works well enough. But the quality of sound on the 1000mx3 is phenomenal. I recommend testing them out at a local Best Buy.

The wired sound quality comparison? With headsets wired and turned on/off? Obviously not designed to be used passive but would be good. The H.ear on 2 sound muffle and dull turned off.

I had tested Sony WH-1000XM3 and BOSE QC35 II. Obviously, Sony is not what I expected while listening to audiophile music. The sound is unrealistic. It looks bulky on my head. BOSE is the best. I bought BOSE QC35 II in Qatar. I am very happy with it.. Thank you..
Try the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 or Sennheiser Momentum 3. Much better than Sony and Bose when it comes to sound quality!

The 1000xm3 is going for £200 right now and the h.ear on 2s are £140 atm so I'm kinda stuck cuz I've never spent this much on headphones so far🤣 does the sound quality difference, particularly the bass, between the two justify that much extra money cuz even 140 is a lot in my budget but if it's absolutely worth it I'll stretch for the xm3s. The xb900ns are same price as xm3s too btw if that helps🤷🏾♂️

Sound quality is great... Though audiophile quality might be dependant on what you connect it to (like what kind of phone/device). What device are you planning to use it with?
Mainly my laptop and smartphone. Currently i have a OnePlus 3 but soon will change to either Note 9 or V40 (depending upon availability). Laptop is a Huawei Matebook X Pro.
@@abobobilly All the phones you listed (including the OnePlus 3), support LDAC (though you may need to enable it with Sony's headphone app). LDAC is Sony's own codec built for hi-res audio (and should be able to satisfy an audiophile). The laptop probably doesn't support LDAC, but it should still sound pretty amazing. Though if the Laptop's audio is not to your liking, you can always use the connectable headphone jack cable that comes with the device to get the full lossless quality.

How's the sound delay on these? I think you've mentioned 700Ns are not the best for video playback and gaming, but what about their flagship headset?
Using the H.ear on 2, and in my experience, it isn't noticable. I do have to specify that I am using an Android device that has LDAC (and AptX). If you are using them with an iPhone or an old Android, you MIGHT have a different experience due to the lack of codec support. I'm unsure since LDAC is more well known for improving the sound quality rather than the delay.

@@IO9802 From what I've read, Windows currently has no way of supporting it. I personally use the cable whenever I use my H.ear headphones with my laptop so I don't have any experience with delay (since I use them for creating music). If you have used Bluetooth with Windows before, I imagine you'll experience a similar delay time with the Sony's. Keep in mind, when people are talking about delay, they are talking about milliseconds of difference, you shouldn't notice it unless you go looking for it.
InterStorm Makes sense. But here's the thing. When I tried Samsung's wireless earbuds the delay was simply atrocious both on Android and Windows. Like I had no idea what was happening on the screen cuz I was so confused by the delay. "Noticeable" would be a huge understatement here. Oh and games were completely out of question. Then I tried Airpods and oh my god it was night and day. Not just on the iPhone. On Windows and Android it was so good I could actually play fps/pvp games pretty comfortably. My point being that delay can get reeeally bad on some headsets, and there's seemingly a huge gap in that regard between different brands.
@@IO9802 The delay should be similar to the airpods (and even better on an Android 8.0+ device if you set the sound quality to priority in the Sony Headphones app), so you have nothing to worry about.
To be perfectly honest, I find the slightly inferior ANC on the H.ear on 2s to be a plus. Having some semblance of hearing helps to prevent being ambushed in the streets or getting accidentally hit by a car or something. Just thinking about safety.

Hear on 2 incredible value in 2020. As far as sound quality goes, they have a more neutral sound signature than the xm3, personally I think they are better built and more rugged, have the same features such as tweaking the sound through the app, quick attention mode but I have to admit the ANC of the xm3 is in another league. However, ANC on the Hear on 2 is good enough to block out plane engines etc and they can be picked up for £70 on eBay etc. Amazing bargain!

Yea there decently loud no distortion at full volume but it also depends on the song ur listening to I use Apple Music and some songs definitely get way louder than others so it’s really how the artist in the studio made the song
