    Last year when we pitted the Sony 1000XM2 up against the Bose QC 35 Series two, the Sony’s won cause they had the better performing technology. But bose still walked away with a close second cause they had far better build quality, far better fit, and they looked much better than the Sony’s. And it looks like Sony took that to heart cause now we have the all new Sony WH-1000XM3. So… are the Sony 1000XM3 finally the complete package… or do the Bose QC 35 Series 2 still have some fight left in them?

      Sony are the 1 at the mo. I want bowers and Wilkins to up date the PX model and drastically improve comfort and to improve NC and sound quality. Bose 35 iii or qc45 could be better but I don't think they will improve much

    After 1.5 hour comparing them in the store i made a decision. I loved that the sony had so many nice features and looked slightly better, but there is one spec that only matters for me and that is the sound quality. Both headphones have an amazing sound quality but the bose feels more natural. It really sounds like an high end headphone, while the sony sounds like a better version of a normal headphone. It really depends on your needs but both are worth the money by far. The noise cancelling is about the same, i slightly like the ANC of bose more. Do you love the touch control, a better app and a modern look, go for the sony. Do you want the best sound quality, go for the bose.
    Edit:
    Proved myself wrong. Bose died after 2 months so i had to make the choice again and went with the sony this time. Out of the box the bose sounds better, but the equalizer makes the sony better. However, i like the ANC of the bose more, but that may be because i got used to it.

      @@ANONYMOUS-qi7lx It began doing weird things like making cracking sounds, sometimes the music was very low volume out of nowhere, and the most annoying thing is that it sometimes wouldnt turn off/on anymore. Then i had to wait like 15 minutes before it turned off or on. Of course the chance that the bose you buy has these problems are very small because it is still a high end product but yea it was still fcked for me.

    Honestly, the dual connection on the Bose is such an underrated feature. You can be watching CZcams on your laptop or doing work and in the middle of it, you can hear your phone notification then hit the button and it will read it out to you. Or if a call comes, it will ring on your headphones and you can just take the call with a single button. Or maybe you need to go to the toilet, jump off the laptop and while hanging a a dirty shit you start playing youtube on your phone and it will come through instantly. All without having to reconnect the device each time.

    • @mokiboki1778
      @mokiboki1778 Před 5 lety +3

      tamrix I currently have headphones that have dual connection and I would rather have headphones that do not. I know some people like it but I only want to hear what’s coming from the device I have it connected to. I don’t like it when I’m watching a video on one device and it gets interrupted with a notification.

      Not gonna lie, but I don’t spend £300 on headphones so I can hear my phone notifications whilst watching something on my laptop. I buy headphones for their sound quality. Period. Comfort is important for extended listening but in all seriousness, there are very few headphones that are uncomfortable....

    • @NenadBulatovic
      @NenadBulatovic Před 4 lety +2

      I completely agree. I use other brand of headphones with same functionality at my work. Lot of meetings, youtube and udemy tutorials, and yes, some music. But then there are frequent business or private phone calls. I don't want to remove my head phones every time I had to switch from laptop sound to phone. What people seems not to get is that you can easily disable other audio device, so if I watch movie at home, I disable audio input from phone or vice versa depending what I need.

      That's a thing Sony does. They have great products in every single department, but they couldn't care less if you bought something from them. Had multiple issues with Sony (and Sony Ericsson) devices over the decades. Sony simply doesn't care. Repair costs every single time would've been nearly the retail price every single time. I just want Microsoft to drop their headphones, they contrary care for their customers after-sell.

    I like the curves on Bose :), and fits better too. Voice clarity is somewhat better on Bose (both phonecalls and songs). But I still got the Sony for the next-generation ANC and the better Bass with the Equalizer on the App. It fits good enough for me! Sound quality and customization is more important for me than making calls.
    I work on a noisy machine floor with both high-pitched noise from chains and low-pitched noise from pumps, and trust me, I tried both, and XM3 is noticeably quieter, and music also sounds better (and warmer) on Sony with ANC on (you can check for yourself and you will see). The better ANC is so worth it when you are in this environment.

    As a current owner of the QC35II. Having tried both XM3 and XM2 at the Best Buy, I can safely say they both blow my QC35II out of water in terms of Sound Quality and NC. For me, XM3 corrected many flaws in the XM2 and is probably the best NC headphone ever produced by the human being. My dream headphone pair would be Sennheiser HD 820+Sony WH-1000XM3.
    So why did I go with QC35II, a much inferior headphone in terms of sound quality and NC? Because of its construction quality and comfort, I don’t want a headphone that has the best sound and NC but at the same time I have to worry about headband cracking issue. So I will hold for another six month or so before I pull the trigger on the XM3.

When I make a call on the Bose QC35-2s I have to take one side off an ear to hear my own voice. 2) How well does the XM3 handle removing noise that is happening around you (such as your keyboard clicks or your coffee shop noise) for the people on the other end of the call? Ok, it's about what's best for you, I got the Bose, because I tried them both in store for 20 minutes each (thank you, Bestbuy!), I like the design of Bose (I have a big head, M3 clamp pretty hard compare to Bose, but I LOVE the Sony quick attention mode), and I have an AmEx card which gets me an extra 20% discount on top of the $299 Amazon price tag. Which means I sacrificed USB-C, quick attention mode, "better" ANC for $100 (Since, M3 just come out, the price is still $350+tax), for me, it is worth it. But if you feel M3 is comfortable enough, and you really want that quick attention mode, get the M3! If you don't NEED it now (no upcoming air travel, doesn't live in the city), wait, the M3 price will come down in a year, and Bose most likely will upgrade the QC35.

    Solid review! Owned Bose QC35s for a couple years. Earpads fell apart (and shed). Without a doubt, the Sony WH-1000XM3 are not only better sounding, but better ANC as well. Sold my Bose, purchased Sony's, and I'm much happier now. If sound, comfort, and ANC are important to you, go with Sony.
    And yes, the wind noise on the Bose is something most reviewers overlook. As a dog owner, i found the wind noise very annoying when walking the dog. (It's actually worse then presented in this review).
    That said, I'm done with Bose headphones. They are over-rated and they under-perform.
    The end.

      How is the durability of the Sony headphones as far as construction? I'm partial to Bose because my QC 15 headphones lasted me almost 4 years before I got the 35's. I figured the 35's would last just as long, if not longer. I was torn between Sony and bose but ultimately chose Bose because of past experiences. I feel like I regret that decision after this video lol

      The build quality on Sony's are good, IMO. The Bose's Earpads actually fell apart after a year of use, and although you get get cheaper replacements (which I did), the overall noise cancelling and comfort were noticeably diminished. The Sony's are comfortable and seem to have a higher quality (p)leather. So, build-quality goes to Sony on this model. At the same price, it's hard to justify purchasing the Bose. Keep in mind, I do like Bose and have owned several Bose speakers, but if you are looking for great sound, best active noise cancelation, comfort, and wireless, skip the Bose. Honestly, I think Bose got too comfortable and Sony really worked to deliver a better product (and succeeded). Hope this helps.

      Hayden Alerte, I owned a pair of Bose cq35 i too. How would you describe the change in comfort with the Sony's compared to the Bose's because I really loved the comfort I had with the cq35. Also, is the sound quality of the Sony's better or less better than the Bose's. I always found it a bummer that the cq35's had such a low bass but the midds and high were always nice crisp and sharp! Do the Sony's have that as well just like the Bose's or even better? I would love to know! Trying to decide wheter to get the Bose cq35 ii or the Sony 1000mx3

    I own both right now. The noise cancelling has minimal difference in practice (to me). The Bose sounds way better! Tested via tidal on hifi quality there is no comparison. My wife (who is not as audiophile as me) chose the bose after 2 seconds of listening when i changed them in the middle of a song. This is my first bose product and I am very impressed. It is very enjoyable, even compared to my wired high end audio technica headphone with an external dac/amp (upscaled to 196/24 bit). The HiRes logo looks good on the box, but it fails miserably in real comparison. The sony has (in my opinion) too much bass out of the box, which apparently most people value as quality sound...

    Thanks for a very good straight to the point review!
    Been a Bose QC user for years and very tempted to jump ship. Couple of quick questions, do you believe that Sony could add multipoint connection for IOS via a firmware update since they have BT 4.2? I mean my true wireless jabra elite 65t have multipoint connection and BT 5.0 (a first for true wireless since they are not using BT to communicate between buds). Not sure why Sony didn't put BT 5.0 on these, it is 2018!
    I am also hesitant as a lot of the consumer reviews online are talking about abysmal phone call qualities on the XM3's with some having to get actual replacement units (vs Firmware). Can you comment on this?

    I do not like the touch controls on the Sony Xm3, the sensor is very sensitive. Every time I pick up my headphones they play for some reason, maybe it’s because I have big hands and fingers graze the outer ear cup? Who knows. The sound is good, but too much mid bass, and it’s a little too over emphasized. The noise canceling is a little better than my qc35 2, but the sound of the Sony’s just sound kind of different, but not in a bad way. I will probably take these back, and stick with my Bose Qc35 2, I like the more balanced natural sound of the Bose. Again, great noise cancellation, but just a little smidge better than the Bose QC35, that does not justify 350 dollar purchase in my opinion. Plus, better mic on Bose, the Sony’s mic is just decent. Bluetooth pairing is better on the Bose, in which you can pair two devices simultaneously, in contrast the Sony you can only pair, which is annoying. Sticking with my QC35 2, waiting for the next Bose QC offering.

I've have the Bowers and Wilken's Px's,Sennheiser px 550's and the parrot zik's and now these here. The build quality of them has gotten better from the last model mainly the fit. The noise cancelling is simply outstanding. The call quality isn't the best either. The sound signature on them is really good! My ear's did slightly sweat after a few hour's of wearing them though. These are The only headphone's I've ever owned that didn't cut out when I stepped into best buy! The touchpad you have to be precise with the gestures on it or you'll skip a song quite frequently. I also don't like the double tap to answer or pause you have to get that right to do either one of those. And other gripes are the long press of the power button on or off and that dang short ass charging cable they come with. It's like 2 or 3inches....

    PXC 550 for example, you can use either: 1. audio jack 2. usb connection 3. bluetooth. Using the usb connection wth PXC 550 is super solid withholding great audio quality. You can even use the microphone at the same time or not. I use a separate mic (on pc), since using it at the same time decreases audio quality.

    I like my bose qc35 ii coz of the comfort tbh. Its like you can forget you are wearing it anywhere u go. It sucks that the firmqare updates lets high frequench sound get pass thru the nc.... it is also nice that when you are callung someone it uses the mic for you to hear all of the ambient sound. Its like asmr lol.
    I always try the sony xm2 in stores, the nc is superb, bjt the fit is a lil bit tight and narrow. And also that the sound quality is the more volume u pump it to,the more static the sound is. Its maybe coz of the sample too old or used but thats what i heard from my exp in the stores... ddnt try calling tho. But i still prefer the physical button than to gestures. It is kinda hassle when commuting on crowded places.

    Great content here. They're all out of the here in satx through the best buy's 😦 I have the sennheiser pxc 550's,the parrot zik's,Bowers and Wilken's Px's and the Sony wh 1000 mx2.... I've been hearing nothing bad about the version 3 of these I'm gonna get a pair when they arrive here again....

    While reviewing headphones, imho sound quality should get the highest priority... the ANC is fantastic in both, but the sound quality is coloured beyond belief.....if you think the m3s have cleaner bass, I’m really sorry for you. Please listen to some cans with proper layered bass, of course those are not ANC but as a hp user you should understand and experience properly tuned cans.
    The m3s will get a solid 0 is sound quality department from anyone with access to proper cans.

    Sony is killing it. Bought a cheaper pair of over-ear headphones from them, and love the product
