Great video Zed, thanks for showing the Modular System and how I use it.
All The Best
David
Was great hanging out after so long and look forward to our next meet up dude ~Peace~
Old style Leatherman Wave, a man of culture! I've had mine for over twenty years and still going strong. an exceptional piece of engineering.
Mine is a relatively new one that I bought about 5 years ago so I have old leatherman envy! :) ~Peace~
@@Zedoutdoors I once used mine to start a Caterpillar D6D bulldozer when we couldn't find the keys, just used it to short the contacts on the starter solenoid and got it fired up.
Excellent setup. Thanks.
Isn't it just, many thanks for watching buddy! ~Peace~
@@Zedoutdoors Just watched it through a 2nd time.... took notes. Thank you once again.
Beautiful to see you in the woods! Killer gear. Excellent video. D😎🤙🇺🇸
Thank you dude, feels great to be out ~Peace~
I'm such a sucker for gear! I shouldn't have watched this knowing I'm in the market for more pouches and frost river stuff 🤣 - thanks for sharing Zed!
You and I suffer from the DF syndrome, every time we meet up with him, our shopping list gets longer! 😆 ~Peace~
Great stuff. I feel quite good now about what I’ve got ready to ‘go’.
Many thanks.
Indeed it's all relative to your own needs and situation ~Peace~
So good to see you upload zed! - hope you are keeping well too mate :)
Than you dude, feels great to be back out and hope you've been keeping well too ~Peace~
Thanks for the plug guys!!
Pleasure was all ours Rob and hope you're keeping well dude ~Peace~
@@Zedoutdoors all good here 👍👍
Some very nice bits of kit in that pack. A lot of big containers for relatively small items however.
Each to their own, many thanks for watching ~Peace~
Ahh no way. I'm waiting on a pouch from David at the moment. It will be my second of his. The quality really is excellent. Very impressed. Tha ks David
Very cool! it'll be worth the wait as his pouches are amazing quality ~Peace~

Roger that Mr Detective ~Peace~
I just love your work David! Great video Zed!
Me and you both and thank you my friend! ~Peace~
Really enjoyed the video! Frost River is proudly made in my hometown of Duluth, Minnesota.
They make some really durable, high quality gear.
Oh wow nice! I hope to be visiting there at some point as i'll also be attending a course at the famous North House Folk school ~Peace~
@@Zedoutdoors Awesome! I sent you a DM on Facebook Messenger when you have time.

Top stuff from you two chaps as always when you do these modular pouches show and tells vids. I'm going to glean some info out of David soon, I hope.
Cheers, Zed.
You are very kind and like yourself i'm always learning when spending time with David ~Peace~
@@Zedoutdoors 🙏🏼
Where is the pouch for the compass from? Absolutely stunning!
Alas I don't remember where it's from but feel free to message David on his Instagram as he'll happily tell you where it's from - instagram.com/davidfriars
It's so seductive, all this kit. I lust after a Frost River Isle Royale Jr. backpack, because it's built like a tank and looks just perfect for the bushcraft image. I want one!
But, do I need one? No. The best kit you can have is what you've got, coupled with knowledge. The name, the packaging is a, to some, enjoyable distraction. Can you keep warm/cool? Got water? Can you eat? Do you know how to, or do you have the kit to achieve?
Not trying to diss what David and you are doing here, but I do wonder if the community as a whole sometimes wander a bit. What do you want from this? Survive? Then you can do that so much cheaper but with a touch of knowledge. Enjoy nature? Again, it's knowing how to use what you've got that counts.
Going back to the Frost River backpack I lust after: yes, if I had the money I'd buy one now. Can I do without it? Absolutely.
I hear your what you've just outlined, often in the 'Bushcraft' community and you are right by stating that one doesn't need 'fancy' kit to enjoy the outdoors. However, no one is telling you that you need to buy said 'fancy' kit, it's all a personal preference and part of enjoying Bushcraft as a passion/hobby/pastime. You don't wanna spend the money, then don't, thats totally fine. But if one dcides to spend the money then who are you or me to pass judgement. Appreciate you watching and sharing your thoughts ~Peace~
Sweet!
Hope yo're keeping well Sam ~Peace~
@@Zedoutdoors I am brother, just had this BT Full Fibre installed so can watch you in full HD (Yayyyy), So...All is good in the hood at the moment.
Great video. What model Frost River is that?
Can you please also provide any more info on the vintage brass multitool?
Hi there, worth messaging David Friars on Instagram regarding the frost river model and multitool - instagram.com/davidfriars
I do love a bit of kit Zed. Tell David I’m available for adoption 😋
Join the queue! 😆 ~Peace~
This is a great series! Thanks for doing this :) I also want David's sweater. Does anyone know the name of it? Looks like a discontinued Fjallraven.
Sincerely appreciate your kind words and reg Davids jumper, i'm afraid I don't know the answer ...hopefuly @davidfriars can shed some light?
Thank you Zed for the great content! I wanted to ask what is the brand of this awesome (wool?) shirt you are wearing?
Thank you kindly my friend! the wool shirt I am wearing I bought from this UK maker - bisonbushcraft.co.uk/collections/boots-clothing-and-outwear
The Frost River stuff is good but I was disappointed in the crooked stitching and leather bits on my Isle Royale backpack. My hunting pack is a Meandering Maker pack . Absolutely perfect in every way but sadly they are not in business right now...hopefully they can return one day.
Thats rare to hear Frost River slacking with the finishing as i've always found their equipment to be impeccable. Also I didnt realise Meandering Maker had retired! his work was sublime so you are very fortunate to own a bag made by him ~Peace~
Sure will have no problems getting a fire going. Hardest thing will be deciding which tool to use to start it. I recommend he gets a Zippo too.
I agree having options is important, what he has currently though is more then sufice ~Peace~
Really cool video thanks. What frost river shoulder bag is that please?
Hi Dan Frost River have. a few to choose from - frostriver.com/collections/satchels-haversacks
Hi I love your channel and content. Did he custom make that sweater canvas?
Thank you kindly Aaron, unless i'm mistaken the jumper David is wearing is by Fjallraven ~Peace~
Tell me about that wax tape? What all is it used for?
Unless i'm mistaken David uses that as a fire lighter ~Peace~
Zeb great video Love David's stuff would you happen to know what size Haversack that is i think they make four sizes all the best Earl
Hi Earl, funny you ask about size as only after recording did I look into the haversack properly and realise like yourself that they come in different sizes! I have linked to Davids youtube channel in the description, may i suggest asking him there as i'm afraid I don't know ~Peace~
Great thanks Zed
Zed, that shirt you're wearing looks like a decent weight wool shirt is it? If so, who makes it? Don't think I've ever seen one like here in the USA...
Hi Gary, yes it's a 100% wool shirt handmade in the UK using British materials that i bought from this maker - bisonbushcraft.co.uk/collections/boots-clothing-and-outwear
@@Zedoutdoors Thank you!
Everyone has different purposes, but if it were me, I would have less fire starting methods, at least double the water, water filter, cordage, zip ties, 2 flashlights.
As you stated yourself everyone has their own needs depending on their environment and circumstances, what David showed here is perfectly suffice for his own needs ~Peace~
@@Zedoutdoors Agree.
How much does this haversack weight fully loaded?
I'm afraid I don't know that Albert, not much though ~Peace~
All those firelighting tools but no flashlight or whistle or basic shelter/rain cover.
This is the bag you take when going for a walk away from camp.
Nice gear but not the best planning.
If you pay attention to the video he explains that this haversack is exactly for that reason, for convenient items in and around camp i.e. some basic essentials. The rest he has in a dedicated backpack and on his person ~Peace~
