For anyone who might be interested, the USFL did have some great games, most especially the 2 matchups between 2 future NFL hall of fame QB's: the Houston Gamblers' Jim Kelly and the Los Angeles Express' Steve Young. The second matchup was so great it has been dubbed "The Greatest Game No One Ever Saw" because the USFL decided to focus network coverage on their newly acquired QB, Doug Flutie of the New Jersey Generals. To cap it all off, Young and Kelly would meet a 3rd time in Week 2 of the 1992 NFL season in one of the most famous regular season games ever played called the "no punt game." All 3 games can be found on CZcams and are worth watching.

The Stars absolutely dominated that league winning 2 of the 3 titles (and appearing in all 3 Championship Games). I've been wanting another spring league for a long time now. So much talent out there it's really a shame a lot of these players have to wash out instead of making a career entertaining people who love the game and want to see a different take on the league. I mean, when you compare the NFL and college games you can feel the difference in how the games revolve around a handful of people (especially with Fantasy so prominent) and it doesn't have that "team" feel you get in a college game. It would be cool to see something like the AAFL work with its state teams so states can have a cool representation rather than like three teams in California, New York, and Florida. With the world now embracing streaming, television wouldn't even be as big of a hurdle as it used to be. Maybe we're coming to a point where it would really be viable.

Happy 2BeHere there’s a market but it’s smaller than you’d think. I guarantee the people clamoring for it are the loudest but not the largest. Most people dont give two shits about the politics (which is a XFL major selling point) and the casual fan is okay with the offense-oriented rules because it creates more scoring. The roughing the passer confusion is the first time I’ve seen a majority of fans band together about rule changes since the game has been more QB friendly. Even though I personally enjoy dominating defensive football it’s all about fantasy football and trying to get 30 a game and if the XFL can manifest that it’s going to be because the players suck, not because of copying nfl rules. If they DO copy rules then people are just going to keep watching the teams they’ve grown up around. Nobody is gonna go watch the fucking Chicago Enforcers when the Bears are playing

Honestly more big time football leagues around the world need to pop up it would be better for talent because more players would get opportunities, the game in general would grow world wide, and the NFL would make more money being the top league.Look at Baseball, Basketball, and Soccer all the sports thrive because they have leagues that are big in other parts of the world.

    A bit of trivia:
With the NFL very protective of their copyright over their game footage, the USFL's game footage is free royalty, and is often used in pop culture. Including (from my recollection) the Spongebob Squarepants episodes of "Your Shoe's United" and "Band Geeks."

This version of the USFL is not done messing with leagues. They recently sued the new USFL for them "taking" the rights to some of the teams names and very similar looks. The problem is the "old" USFL willingly sold these trademarks to the new USFL getting some money in return for the names. In other words, a desperate grab for more money from the new USFL which is truly trying to follow the Allen plan - by having two TV contacts lined up, televising all the games, and playing every game in one city the first season to keep costs down. It may even work this time if the old USFL does not kill it after its first season in the courts. Time will tell.

As I remember, Tampa Bay Bandits owner had a great business plan, did not overspend, and had great crowds that rivaled the Buccaneers (and Denver Gold was very similar). But the owner of the Bandits got sick and Trump just bullied all the other owner to move to fall.

Suspence58 the league failed because Rump conned all but two of the owners!!! The first year was a success & no plans were ever in the works to move the league from spring!! Rump buys the Generals after that season & the contracts sky rocket, he cons others to get in with new teams & talked moving to fall because the NFL told him never on him owning a team!! The Bandits owner & one other fought Rump on the move until the Bandits owner passed away!!!
Easy to see the truth, no Rump, league is a success, with Rump, the league folds in two years!!!
