OMG! Too funny, the urge to throw the thing through the air!! SAILING! I know it all too well, but still a gorgeous build and a testament to your modeling skills. Thanks so much for sharing your talent and tribulation. I am in the last days of building the Moebius 1/72 Orion III, probably a lot easier than this shuttle!
Why do those nacelle caps remind me of a sonic screwdriver? :) Outstanding job sir. We should give props to the designers of SNW for keeping the look of TOS alive instead of some wierd "reimagining".
So, Lou? I used to think that I was a pretty good modeler, but then I started watching your Channel. I have learned SO much here, it's hard to describe. Thank you.
Another great build Lou. Let's just call the 3D printing lines a 'Feature', perhaps this particular shuttle isn't brand new off the line, she's just seen a few to many 'close for comfort' starship inspections. Trip would be proud of her bumps & dinks. 😁👍
That's gorgeous! I have to have one, I'm not confident Round 2 will produce one. If you ever get that guy's information please post it. I'm sure he would love the business and it would make a lot of Trek nerds happy. Well done, sir!
Well another project nicely done! I also agree that working through any rear end not pleasant. Wish I could get hold of one of these but will just have to hope.
If Nobody Has Done It Yet Then It Should Be YOU FIRST ---> " Spaceship in a Bottle " i have seen your work and it will be possible and something different .. maybe not build it in the bottle but display it in a bottle 😉👍
Another satin purse from a cows ear ( not a silk purse from a sows lol) Lou , your saying that it's the best available model reminded me of the razorcrest ( we know that not long after you finished the big boys announced their more accurate kits ) 🤣I can imagine you attempting to actually making a dancing version of the kit ( with sound card for the singing ) as for your cleaning fetish while the cameras on proper modellers know that there's a lot of mess involved in building and a clean modelling area while being actively involved is a fantasy ( a clean organized modelling area is a unused/ awaiting for action area )
Well... Strange New Worlds is clearly some kind of alternate universe thing. It's okay, but well... you know... My first love is still the original. That having been said-- this is a neat re-casting of the all plywood era of boat building, now executed with digital simplicity. You have worked your usual paint magic-- I would have put backing or support strips behind those doors as the light "leaks" are intentional. Whattaya mean, "ship in a bottle?" Where's your extra long hemostats? Seeing that such fine work as that "Galileo" can be done in vinyl means you should do a master set of names n numbers and such. That "Enterprise" is the bee's knees. Very nice lighting, though I would have moved heaven and resin to get those rear impulse thingies open. And I'll remind you once again, 9V batteries can be stuck down with a magnet.
@@dennisbisconti4583 I think you're right. And if dear Matt Jeffries had a rough budget of, oh, $8,000,000 to build a full size one back in the day, it might look like that. Pretty cool design with both modern touches and call-backs!
The biggest mistake made when producing models, is the THICKNESS of the material. If this ship were real, the Hull according to scale would be almost 6" thick. I would thin out all of the visible hull edges, especially around the window edges. Gives a better scale detail.
What about using white glue on the doors? White glue should hold a door down and still be able to break the glue joint if needed. Magnets in this case for the doors seems like over kill.
8:20 I agree. The engineering of this "model" is indifferent at best and lazy at worse. Not a statue as you said. I believe that to be an accurate assessment. I will say, however, the print itself is hugely impressive and I'm more curious over that and how it was done (printer, printer settings, etc.) as opposed to the finished print product. But as always, your skill in the Delmaso finishes is the best!
the Eye-gore figure was a gift from Paul Bennett. I forgot to give him his dues.
Lou+ this shuttle craft looks like it came from star trek the animated series from the early 1970s the more I keep looking at it great work 👍😁

A gorgeously designed shuttle and a testament to your skills lou, a nice nood to the classic galileo.
Thanks
Nice update Lou ........................... 👍👍👍👍
Looks amazing Lou! You did some great work considering the limitations of the print. Thanks for sharing. Happy days and model on! 😎🇨🇦

Beautiful work, really like that design as well

I like very nice I really hope round 2 puts this Into production
Great model! SNW is such a great show and I hope that Polar Lights eventually will make an SNW version of Galileo.
If the reaction at the last wonderfest is any measure, I'm sure Round 2 is working on it.
I hear that there may be a revised 1000 scale Enterprise kit to reflect the changes made to the ship for the show.
@@SeansModelBuilds yup. I heard those saucer rim windows will be added.
@@aztekdummy I still have the first one in my stash waiting to be built.
Looking great Lou👍
Goodness that is what it should have looked like Way kool
Look how far 3D printing has come in the last 5 years though. I wonder what is next......... replicators :D
I like the modernized and perhaps if the original budge was bigger it would have more to it
Very cool!

What hump???
You beat me to that quote!
Maybe you can re-model the neck so that his face is tilted up or cocked to the side looking at Froderick
👍👍👍❤❤❤
Why not 007? LOL! Very nice result, it looks rely GOOD!
I picked up a smaller size on eBay. 3 inch in size
Maybe some pearlescent tape in the impulse engine holes in the back?
I do have some reflective vinyl I could use...hmm....
How about a short flight of stairs for Eye-gor to raise him up, and make his face easier to see?
That looks like a very nice model. If it is resin, is it as brittle as other resin-printed items? The resin miniatures I have are almost like glass.
It is brittle. Resin doesn't carve like styrene or vinyl. You have to be careful when drilling into it.
Add metallic green and red to the nav dimples above the name.
i'll give them a spot of paint but i can't light them

100% right on this. the catch 22 is if you go too much thinner, you risk warping the walls
I am surprised you don’t have a small suction cup pen for doing windows they have them at Micromark
That was the maddening part. The diffused plastic I was using had a pebbled texture. The suction cup couldn't stick because it wasn't totally smooth.

magnets are only on the rear hatch so I can change batteries.
Abe-Normal
Lou It looks like those bites are too bright
Lights lol
Nice model! Too bad they dont sell them commercially!
It'll happen . Just give it time.
The show and everything it entails is an insult to Star Trek, but hey, it's LOU building it! I'm in!
Tray, stick to the models.
Hey Lou, I’m looking for some help to get some 3D prints made.
the best advice i can give it start locally. do a google search for "3d printing services near me" and go from there
