    Ever since watching the movie Enterprise in, The Motion Picture/The Wrath of Kahn, I thought that the aztek pattern made the studio model look larger than it was, it seemed that the pattern looked like individual hull plates.
    Great job so far.
    Take care, and all the best.

    Lou, Happy New Year! Enterprise E is looking great, especially the Aztec paint scheme. I've been using Mission Models paint for a couple of year now and I've been very happy with the results. I have to use their Polyurethane additive to get their primer to stick to bare plastic. On your next project that needs a chrome finish try their Chrome paint. Best I've seen in a acrylic paint.

    Regular Saturday morning update brightens a dismal day in hospital! I can't believe how you have managed to get something decent out of the utter mess you were presented with at the start. This is a testament to your skills and perseverance. Keep pulling us through the dark times and again best wishes for the new year 👍

    This is coming alone great Lou. I am currently building my 1:1400 version and have been watching with great interest how you are painting it. With reference to one of your commemts that you think the kit is based on the First Contact model, its not the case. The kit is firmly the Nemesis version of the enterprise with the smoothed out shuttlebay deck and the differing nacelle pylons, extra phaser strips and photon tubes.

    • @aztekdummy
      @aztekdummy  Před 3 lety

      Bless me Father for I have sinned... Sorry old catholic habits are hard to break :)
      the kit has the features of the Nemesis kit . It was the photo collection that I'm using as reference that was taken from the First Contact model. sometimes I talk faster than i think and may have misstated

  • @toboldlygosmodelworks1973

    Happy New Year Lou. I wonder if the leaching around the mount is due to the soldering flux you used on the copper pipe?

    • @aztekdummy
      @aztekdummy  Před 3 lety +1

      that's a good thought, but that length of pipe has no solder on it. My best guess is that it is a reaction between the copper pipe and the aluminum sleeve in the armature. I know that you are not supposed to mix those two metals in electrical wiring, but I thought it was the act of passing electricity thru them that was the problem, not just the physical contact.

    • @toboldlygosmodelworks1973
      @toboldlygosmodelworks1973 Před 3 lety

      @@aztekdummy but did you reverse the polarity of the Neutron flow?
      The other thing it could be (I've seen it many a time on Ready to run loco's when weathering them) is leaching caused through lubricant (or in the E's case, release agent) that's not even visible. Judging by how swiss cheesed the casting was, that's a possible culprit.

  • @MrChief101

    Too bad it was so hard to find that "Easy" button, eh?
    I am so freaked out by that "creeping malaise" around the stand mount thing that I am suggesting the ultimate! Channel your favorite dentist, grab your smallest ball-end mill bit and Dremel-- start eating away half of that hull thickness. Around the suspect metal material, I would apply a band of heat shrink as a barrier. After you gently carve away a neatness around that area-- use some Apoxy Sculpt to restore that profile. I am fairly sure that Apoxy won't continue the bleed... I hope not. (Bin paint? That stuff that seals wood against knot holes... ?) I didn't say it would be EASY! But it is so strange and persistent, who can say what will happen through more paint or a decal? (Or, gulp, if it's affecting the resin...)
    Still no word about the saucer? Ah well. What you're up to at this point looks mighty fine.
    Here's to 2021 hopes!
