It's because she has huge credit card debt. She said at some point she hates her job, but she needs to do it to pay back what she owes. So how much she makes doesn't matter as much, because most of it doesn't go to the household.
The truth is both Leonard and Howard SHOULD have more money than their spouses. The show just turned the tables for views. Both men worked at a university for years while the women were at school or waitressing.
Nope. Do remember that Howard wasted money on geek stuffs and useless things. Plus Howards money can only afford his own gas money, food, and his mother's medical bills.
Don't matter how you slice it she's in the wrong it's either his money or the money is both of their's. If the money is his, she has no reason to scold her husband as if he was a child. If it's both their money then she has no right to throw the fact that she makes way more than him in his face. I think one of the main things people have to come to an agreement before a marriage is how the money is gonna work. In my opinion if one of the parties work and the others doesn't. Then like a responsible adult the person that stays home should cook and clean and when the time comes take care of the kids. If both parties work then they should each have their own account and 1 account for house priorities. Bills, food, insurance, ect... My theory of why Bernadette became so passive aggressive and arguably rude, is because after dating and marrying Walowitz, she’d became frustrated, stressed and jaded that he is still a child deep down and hadn’t matured further to support and pick up his slack in the relationship to where she feels like just a second mother to him. That’s just my theory. It’s just ironic how she developed to become arguably the sassiest and perhaps least tolerant of the group. At least, when it comes to the guy’s shenanigans.
Exactly, she was very kind and sweet at the start of their relationship. She is in a toxic relationship with an irresponsible disrespectful man child. He never respected women, and seriously considered not dating her for the sake of imaginary unrealistic women, he literally imagined. So of course after being so long in a toxic relationship she became toxic too.
I think it's weird of her to expect him to change, especially so as she married him before said expected change. Why would she think he would suddenly grow up when he was already a grown man who hadn't yet grown up when she married him.
@@msshannonigans It's not that she expected him to change, it's about her being in a toxic relationship, that caused her to become this person. She didn't get out of this relationship, that's true. Yet, she might not have understood to the extent of the toxicity, after if any toxic person showed exactly all of his toxicity immediately no one would be in a toxic relationship. It's very hard to recognize when you're in a toxic relationship, it's harder to accept you are in one, and even harder to get out of it.
@@ranazaied3070 Yeah, I think people who date obviously [insert negative attribute here] partners are doing so because they think they can fix those negative aspects because they like the positive aspects so much. @@msshannonigans I agree, yet I think this is just one of the reasons why. There's also low self-esteem, ignorance/naivety... But the worst I believe is bad patterns in relationships in general that people have been taught especially in childhood.
It's so funny how their relationship is basically the same Howard had with his mother. At the same time, if you ever find a man that treats you like you're their mom run like wind.
I would really hate to be in a relationship with someone like her with the sound of her voice and the mocking and trying to make herself look like she's in charge in front of others
I have only seen bbt on these CZcams shorts but Howard and Bernadette have easily been my least favorites. Bernadette more so. She is always rude to everyone to make herself seem like she's better when she isn't
The voice is adorable, the way she says things not. Also, this is how you flag a toxic relationship. If you're both adults with income, the best thing to do is pool together for whatever both use like rent, groceries and services. Aside from that, everyone can do whatever they want with their income.
Tbf she isn’t “trying to make herself look like she’s in charge” because she’s clearly the one in charge of that relationship. It’s a toxic one through and through.
Hmm... this is a comedy show. But does this happens to real couples ? One person makes so much more that they mock the other one in front of friends or families ? Can't be healthy right?
I think it depends. My hubs makes 3x what I do but never makes me feel bad about it or mocks me because well, I'm the one who does the domestic labor. However Howard doesn't strike me as a guy who would do the cookin n cleanin while Bernadette makes the dough. So she works, and still has to make sure the house is in order AND he's making bad financial decisions with her money? I'd be resentful too
I remember started watching the series with my Dad when there was only 3 season's. And as the show goes on, both me and my Dad started to look confused at each other, feeling discomforted from Bernhadette. Always wondered how such a sweet girl in season 3, can turn in such a Gremlin. And yes i know that Howard, Leonard, Raj and Penny also have there bad moments but Bernhadette really pushed it hard sometimes. (Yes Sheldon and Amy had these moments as well but they were growing during the series in a good way, but Bernhadette was getting more mean as the series goes on)
My ex was exactly the same. I've worked as a builder all my life, I got with her and she worked in a children's home but thought she was so much better than me just because her income was more. She was a bully and very controlling. Her house, her car hers hers hers. Well, I'm better off on my own. Took me ten years to realise though 🤣
Everybody freaking out about their relationship, but I'm understanding that if they don't have someone to push off of they'd likely drive anybody else insane.
Not necessarily no. Having been in a toxic relationship I can tell you that people will bring out the best or worst in you, and this is a case where they tend to push each other to be worse. With the right kinds of people they would want to be a better person because their partner deserves to be with the best version of them, but instead they just argue and Bernadette seems to intentionally emasculate him a lot to keep a sense of control over him.
@@LoveLee_Dreamer I see where you're coming from, but respectfully, some people just want to be angry and need something to be mad at. I suppose a good example of this would be my uncle who had a literal angel of a partner, who brought out the good in him and everyone else, and he left her for his ex who mad him furious.
Marriage needs 4 things: two separate and personal checking accounts, one joint checking and one joint saving. 50% of each spouses paycheck goes into the joint checking, 15%-25% goes into the joint saving, and the rest goes into personal checking accounts. That way regardless of who makes what, you both equally put into an account that pays all of combined household bills and needs (this includes necessary hygiene products as well those are not luxury items), you both equally put into a nest egg savings for emergencies, and you both each have a personal account solely for the usage of personal spending. That way you literally have no need to discuss or ask permission when buying personal want items or such. If you want big purchases well you can save up or deplete your personal funds while not affecting or impacting your dual ability to pay bills. Idk why more couples do this.
Why more couples as a generalisation don't do this more often would be because of declining financial literacy, declining trust in partnerships and relationships, poorly functioning household dynamics, and declining critical thinking skills. With some critical thinking skills more couples would be able to plan their finances and relationship better to overcome simple logic problems and become more cohesive. This is antithesis to corporate profits though, so it's discouraged in working class education.

"What assets do you bring?" ...."You mean besides the home we're raising our kids in?"

Howard owns two plots on Mount Sinai and that's very pricey
The fact that she's smiling while absolutely destroying him
not destroying him, just the relationship. Only nerds and simps gonna stay after she speaks like that in front of friends
Wait how does a guy who literally fixes space ships from earth for naza gains less than her
Let's not forget Howard actually used his own money not her's. While it's not specifically stated it is implied. Bernadette is 100% wrong for this.
They need to establish some boundaries about money. Set spending limits or allow each person to save/spend so much, every payday.
howard has used her money on random bs
She also literally ends up giving him an allowance
If you both decide to have a joint account then, what's her's is his and vice-versa.
Only on TV would a microbiologist make more money than an engineer 😭
Ong What kinda microbiologist is that?
True my days a microbiologist and he makes absolutely nothing (masters and 20+ years of experience)
Microbiologists make between 50-100k
Engineers make 60-120k
Obviously, experience and specific employment makes a difference but they should have been on equal footing, all things considered.

I never understood this. Howard is an engineer. Engineers don't make a lot of money too? It's okay that she earns more but I don't see the logic of him earning so little that he can't buy his own things.

'Cause in most cases than not, women would actually still contribute something in the relationship, from child care to maintaining the home for free. This scene underlines how Howard is not doing so at all and is being both maintained and raised by his wife.

Perfectly understandable how much he will debase himself.
He's used to being controlled by his mother so it's kind of the joke that he married a woman who acts like her.

I miss them so much.
Because of Howard they're living in a beautifull house. So i would say he contributes a lot.
That's trying to train somebody, which is fine, but with ridiculous expectations. But that's just my opinion.
@@msshannonigans I agree, yet I think this is just one of the reasons why. There's also low self-esteem, ignorance/naivety... But the worst I believe is bad patterns in relationships in general that people have been taught especially in childhood.
Watching these shorts and binging on this series on Netflix is the best😅😂
Exactly, she's just so annoying
Bernadette is 10/10 but her aggressive, toxic and abusive personality bring her to 0/10. I would choose personality over hotness anyday.
Hmm... this is a comedy show. But does this happens to real couples ? One person makes so much more that they mock the other one in front of friends or families ? Can't be healthy right?
I think it happens 😞
I think it depends. My hubs makes 3x what I do but never makes me feel bad about it or mocks me because well, I'm the one who does the domestic labor. However Howard doesn't strike me as a guy who would do the cookin n cleanin while Bernadette makes the dough. So she works, and still has to make sure the house is in order AND he's making bad financial decisions with her money? I'd be resentful too
