I have changed the settings so that exponents are scientific and that calculations are approximate however I am still not getting the correct answers on my calculator. An example of one that we did in class is 2.3*10^3+3.8x10^4 My professor says the correct answer is 4.03x10^4 however my calculator keeps giving me the result of 4.03x10^5. I just wanted to know if there was something further I am missing to adjust on my calculator or maybe I'm inputting it incorrectly. The CAS doesn't give you a step by step solution. That's what you are there for. The CAS will give you the answer based on what you typed in. Not sure what you're trying to solve but the CAS is rarely wrong. I would check the solutions at the back of most textbooks or talk to your teacher about it.

You can also check your settings to see what your Float setting is. If it’s a really low number it’s possible your calculator rounded up or down. If it wasn’t even close then it’s possible you didn’t save it in DEG?
The newest update for all Ti-nSpire calculators allows you to click DEG on the top right in order to change to RADS too which is nice. If not then unfortunately that may only be a Ti-nSpire CX CAS II function.

The CAS is expensive I agree. If you want/need a CAS getting one second hand is a much cheaper option. However, CAS batteries are not treated well by second hand sellers. You may get a CAS that has a faulty battery inside (runs out of charge way faster than expected). You can replace the battery if this is the case but it's an added expense.

I got a big laugh out of this. You got confused as to how to navigate it right from the very beginning. The problem with this calculator is that it is entirely unintuitive when it comes to navigation. What if you want a decimal for say 1/3? Or another way of saying it: How do you get the fractions to display as Decimals? Casios have an "SD" button. Where is that on the Nspire?

Menu > 2 > 1 should be "convert to decimal", or ctrl > enter. Both approximate to decimal.

This is a great calculator, but it's hella overpriced.

what do you expect TI calculators are all overpriced because they have a monopoly in the graphing calculator market. Actually, this is the LEAST overpriced out of all the TI graphing calculators, yet it is still pretty overpriced.

Hp prime is much better by far than TI CX II CAS. Texas is the blackberry of calculators.

Sorry. You have habit of saying one thing while your hands are pressing as many as 3 keys. Organize your presentation and stick to the script. I know. You may no longer be around; this is so old. Please take this constructively. I've tought for about 16 years on two different times in my life interspersed with working as an engineer folded in. You can do it.

Your tutorial loses all credability at 3:30, when you bring in your own negative biases.
