I don't find it surprising at all that WWE superstars who were popular enough to be on the cover of a game were injured. It makes sense to me. The more popular ones would be utilized more on the shows and it makes sense that those ones in particular are more likely to be injured.

The only one I distinctly remember getting injured was Triple H and that was in May of 2001. He was on the Covers SmackDown! and SmackDown! 2 when that happened! But that was in November.

Actually it's similar to the Madden Curse. If you have the cover of either you're likely outperforming almost anyone else. You're playing harder in nfl and likely wrestling more/longer matches in wwe. It's not a curse in either scenario. It's working way too hard.
