Good Evening Daniel,
This is a great piece and one I am familiar with after having been sent down a Guqin wormhole by one of your earlier covers.
There is as much to be found in the spaces between the notes in this as there is to be found in the notes themselves. It is amazing on the Guqin but well done for this.
It is a lovely contemplative piece and whilst I do not practice meditation myself I do enjoy those quiet moments when one can just sit and ponder.
I trust that you are not too cold but seeing that the "wristy" has made an appearance and your forecast is some 20C degrees below what we are having here I just hope that you are all buttoned up and keeping safe and warm.
Put another log on the fire, Keep Safe, Keep Warm and of course keep playing.

You're right about those spatial moments when a single note decays or is silenced with a hand.
Some western artists use this to good effect, but usually we're in such a hurry to fill up those spaces.
Yes, it's freezin' ________ (fill in the blank) cold this week and the advisory says not to venture outdoors.

What's the tuning on this beast? I assume it's like a regular guitar with diatonically tuned bass strings, similar to a (baroque) lute?

I've had it tuned a few different ways to suit the music but the default tuning is as you described-
analogous to the 11-course baroque lute
