Karina Gauvin. I prefer her in general because I think her technique is much better than Vivica Genaux's. Technique is not everything of course but I do find a lot of things about Genaux's voice to be kind of distracting and I end up focusing on that rather than the beauty of the performance. I find Gauvin's singing to be far more homogenous and confidence inspiring.
@@Trensharo have you seen Vivica sing? It's truly shocking. She sings coloratura very well but she has got to have the strangest technical approach to classical singing I have ever seen. She makes Cecilia Bartoli look tame. I do think that all the tension caused by her unique approach has taken a toll on her voice prematurely. She sounded pretty good when she was younger but she's only 54 and has been sounding really rough these last few years.
Karina’s voice is warmer and more musical, whilst Vivica’s voice is more flexible and agile. Both are beautiful in their own rights.
Karina Gauvin is perfect in this aria/role.
