Elden Ring - Which Class Is Best For You?
Vložit
- čas přidán 8. 07. 2024
- The first choice Elden Ring has you make is which class to choose, and they're different from the network test! Here's a quick breakdown on all of them to make that choice a bit easier.
What's the best class in Elden Ring? Which class should you play? Whether you're tackling bosses or just want to try all classes, hopefully this video gives you a better idea of the stats, weapons, and spells you can choose from at the beginning of Elden Ring. Whether it be samurai, wretch, or even confessor, there are pros and cons to all of them, so choose wisely!

I’m going in with just a g-string and a stick
my man
So this is the fabled fashion souls part I've heard so much of.
Yeah, thats nice and all, but what class? 😉😆😆
Hey that’s what she said to me last night
Wait…
Its always nice to stare at some cheeks as they get repeatedly clapped.
this is going to be my first ever souls game, super pumped to be immersed in this beautiful world

Nice dude, after this you should try Bloodborne. My personal favorite so far.
Try sekiro to really test out your skill as well dude because both bloodborne and sekiro have a much faster combat than the dark souls series

@@MrWestSky Also the armor for classes that aren’t in the final release like Bloody Wolf and Enchanted Knight should be hidden in the game somewhere.
Thx king
Thanks mom
I'm going with my favourite build from dark souls 3... the Gandalf build.
Left hand staff. Right hand sword.
Shout " you shall not pass " at the bosses.
ANOTHER ONE JOINS THE MAGE SQUAD
what attributes do you consider to be the most prioritized out of strength and intelligence for this type of build?
In dark souls 3 i put crystal enchantment on lothric knight sword because it scales massively with intelligence. Don't really need much strength other than to reach the required level to use the sword effectively.
in these games it's the bosses that shout "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!" :P
This was genuinely inspiring thank you
The prisoner looks like Griffith from the Berserk series, when the band of the hawks rescued him from prison. He also used a rapier. That can't be coincidence. Previous installments also were heavily inspired by Berserk.
Yea fr
Is it possible to take off the helmet/mask ?
@@pixelfrog8281 yees
Going back further it's a reference to The Man in the Iron Mask.
Yes he was a bit rapier there
Prophet, Prisoner, or Confessor are definitely looking to be my choices for my first playthrough. I've always liked being able to compensate my martial combat with spells, and felt that locking myself into a strictly magic or strictly melee build deprived me of a lot of content.
Couldnt agree more!
Definitely using confessor to make a paladin character.
Same
Yeah, it's always nice to be well rounded than just be a specialist in one thing. At least for me.
Yeah prisoner could be really op because of the balance of strength and magic
can't wait to see someone playthrough as the base wretch for the whole game
Aka me
Same lol
Well
Go check Ongbal
The Prisoner aka Griffith or The Wretch seems like the right choice if you want it harder at the start.
He's more like Leo from The Man in the Iron Mask.
Bonus if you actually make him look like Leo
Glad I'm not the only one noticing that's Griffith
@@matheuscruz8574 seems so since Griffith was heavily inspired by that story
ah a fellow man of culture
@@mr.b89 souls have always been heavily influenced by berserk. I’m hoping to see some obvious memorials to Miura
Definitely going with the samurai class, the legacy of Jin Sakai continues
or sekiro V2
My samurai build based of genichiro
@@rohaanfarouq7284 with the exception of the parry system!
My thoughts exactly! 🤣
Apparently samurai is the meta.. Saw someone duel weild katana's and he just absolutely dusts everything..
Vagabond: Tank
Warrior: Speedster
Hero: Berserker
Bandit: Assassin
Astrologer: Mage
Prophet: Cleric
Samurai: Physical jack of all trades
Prisoner: Duelist
Confessor: Magical jack of all trades
Wretch: Lethal joke character
wretch allows u to get full 99 one each stat btw
Samurai 💯
Samurai and warrior look like a fit to me, but can we also be effective spell casters with these classes?
@@binkawy it might take some time finding a staff to be able to cast sorceries if you pick a class that doesnt start with one. Other than that, sure, you can do anything regardless of starting class.
Wretch is the best, wtf you mean joke
confessor armor is just smexy.
No it's not
@@mavvynne444 yeah it is
Tbh Samurai is looking like my choice for the classic dex katana build but bandit also sounds pretty interesting. Plus Samurai gets bonus points for starting with the uchigatana, I’m glad it’s returning. Although “faith based assassin” build for the confessor sounds tempting as hell
Can we dual katanas?
Faith based samurai may be better
@@Onepieceownz most likely, Dark souls 3 had Onikiri and Ubadashi, a dual katanas
Arcane dex bleed build was my samauri first play through.
Been loving the more recent IGN videos. You can tell the people doing the newer reviews truly love video games and that reference to the Bioshock Infinite Boys of Silence let me know this guy knows his stuff haha.
Truth be told, the Bandit class has specifically caught my eye as of now. High initial arcane, sweet.
And considering end game spells are usually the best. That's probably the smart choice.
@@kevinfortsch arcane in this game has nothing to do with magic lol. It’s basically luck
@@ericcarrero2127 there are spells and weapons which require arcane stats to use them
Glad to see im not the only one thinking this very surprised arcabe doesnt affect sneak much like dex does for cast speed.
Double Dagger Bleed build scales off Arcane and dex been slapping with it =D
Definitely Hero or Confessor, Love the strenght builds but Confessor looks like such a fun class fantasy
Me too
Same here.
Agreed.
Which build would be the best for a noob that’s never played these games?
@@dylanricher4333 Probably the Vagabond since the higher HP will let you take an extra hit and the shield makes it so you don't have to rely on dodge i-frames until you get better at timing your dodges. Characters focused around magic also introduce more complexity so staying away from that makes it easiest for a noob.
confessor is my #1 choice my 2nd choice is the warrior those double swords with fast offensive power is lovely
I'm picking whatever has the most drip right off the bat. Fashion Souls, cradle 2 tha grave.
lol drip soul
Yeah me too, the defeats are temporary but the drip stay forever
What is drip? 🤣
@jessejames4967 it's a disease lol
Started with Astrologer. Going into my usual heavy int build. May try to make it a melee/int hybrid later on, but for now it'll be a pure caster.

report this guy, he gonna int the game heavily.
There is no other choice for me but the wretch..love going into soul games with nothing. Makes all the upgrades and leveling feel like they have greater meaning.

This!!!
Confessor for me, love the idea of having an all around magic and decent physical
Confessor for me! Melee/magic build has been awesome so far. Fire and restoration magic is so useful. Also both the Twinblade and Demounter have by far been best in class - those along with the Tortoise shield of course 😌
Samurai or confessor that’s the question…
Confessor seems like it be one of the better but samurai seems so cool I’m debating between them both also
Also hero I’m sure there with be nice two hand only weapons later on

It all comes down to what type of build you want. The looks and gear can be changed at any time anyway (for those who are new to DS games)
Nintendo Ds
Can’t wait to invest a couple hundred hours and a handful of headaches to this game lol.
Just pick a mage build and go easy mode :)
@@SpookyFairy what build is mage ?
Remember, you aren’t having fun until you want to destroy your tv 🤣
@@deandavies8758 if you mean classes then Astrologer and Prophet are pure mages and Confessor and Prisoner are probably the hybrid versions
@Dale Macarena ayooo
the prisoner/wretch seem like the basic "what do you want your character to be?" kind of character, where you have full customisation for your attributes armor focus and damage type
6:08 "A bit of adaptability can really help" *Dark Souls 2 flashbacks*
Very helpful, thanks!
Starting class matters very little.
Once you gain a few levels and pick up a few items, you've most likely already found the items for most starting classes and altered your stats in a direction opposite of your class focus cuz you found a spell or weapon that has a stat requirement for a stat your class doesn't support.
and you can always respec. after the like fourth story boss she’ll let you change
This is true, but your starting class doesn’t matter only when you hit endgame. Your starting class determines what stats you invest in. It will carry you through early and mid game. Endgame your stats should be balanced
It's harder to get the initial equipment of other classes in Elden Ring without searching in the internet tho, since the game is too big most players won't even explore everything
Confessor sounds so fun. Definitely leaning towards that one
Yeah, think that’s the one for me
Does he have the same ranged faith based attacks?
@@User-xw6kd not starting out, no. Confessor starts with assassins approach and heal, but you can always get more incantations later on
bro his armor looks cool from the get-go
When are you going to confess the fax that you lean towards men, romantically?
Thank you for this video. this helped me choose the best start off character for me
Bandit and Warrior look like the most fun to play, at least at first.
confessor looks dope af. Definitely my starter pick
First thoughts was confessor. Always liked making a dex/faith build. But watching again, Bandit could be interesting for a dex/arcane hybrid??
Maybe it's just me, but the "Prisoner" reminds me of Griffith from Berserk, after he got tortured ( Helmet and his Rapier )

Prophet or Astrologer for me. A class that has much better strength than dex or vise verse seems like it would be optimal. Although maybe an all rounder is a better idea, doing both dex and str in 1 playthrough?
Same
Wretch is the way to go. Always start with nothing in DS
Fun challenge at the start but less than stellar stat spread if you know what you want to specialize in. If you know you're doing a faith build you don't need the 10 points in intelligence
@@jmorr5572 but you start at level 1. Doesn't that mean you'll actually have more stats to play around with?
@@OmegaDN not quite, the other classes have the additional stats that come from their level. Whilst the thiefs arcane stat is useless, choosing a samurai is great as you get extra points in all the essential melee stats in exchange for a loss in magic etc.
Same applies to the prophet for faith or astrologer in sorceries.
@@OmegaDN It gives you more flexibility if you aren't sure what your playstyle is going to be yet. You start at level 1 but with 80 total stat points equally allocated vs say the vagabond at level 9 with 88 stat points. If you know you're never using magic you should pick the vagabond cuz those 5 extra points you otherwise would have had in int/faith/arcane are gonna be useless on the wretch. Wretch basically guarantees you're going to have wasted stat points.
@@jmorr5572 first character probably isnt going to specialize since we know nothing about the game. Most people aren't going for a pvp build or are going to freeze their levels. It's really the best class for blind playthroughs.
Wait where are the classes that were in the network test? Where’s bloody wolf and enchante knight and all of those? Are they not in full release?
Most definitely starting off as the wretch and working my way to the confessor.
Confesser. He looks cool and he seems to be tough enough to last in the early stages of this game.
Deciding between Vagabond, Samurai, or Confessor.

Same
I'm really tempted by wretch, but I'll probably go with samurai as a primarily dex user.
Will be my first Souls-like game, thinking of going down the magic and ranged route - any tips/pointers?
Don't look up any guides/wikis. These games are 100% better to go through and figure out on your own. Then your second character can be a mix/max powerhouse.
Check out pyromancy it's usually a lot of fun.
just dont give up. youre meant to die. its ok. youll get better and stronger.
Don’t be afraid to get in some melee practice as well! It’ll click with ya eventually and you’ll be engaging from near and far! The personal satisfaction is off the charts and FromSoft definitely tends to reward you for really getting after it… Even if it seems sketchy at first, try to get a few hits in, you can always back up and finish those suckers off with arrows, spells, incantations and other ranged goodies…
Enjoy, fellow Tarnished!
Also… Prepare to Die! (Keyword: Prepare! Accept it mentally and take your time, but also, literally… Spend Those Runes frequently in the beginning… On leveling up and gathering your ranged consumables… then death won’t hit so hard ;)
Prisoner is based off Griffith from the manga called Berserk. The whole Dark Souls franchise is influenced by Berserk and there's multiple Easter eggs in Elden Ring referencing Berserk.
We know but thank you anyways
Not really tho
cool
No
Everything even the ancient European settings is based off of Berserk.
might have to go with the Samurai, playing thru sekiro rn and i’m loving the ancient japanese vibe, and the samurai looks so frickin dope
does the wretch end up gaining more stats for his level?? or is his stats spread thin ???
Classes do matter when u wanna start out with the stats u like and wanna build around. That's the main purpose of classes. Other than that u can build them any way u like afterwards or stay faithful.
I'd love to play either as Vagabond, Warrior, Hero, Samurai or Confessor.
Gonna pick samurai for a dexterity faith build
Oh your one of those guys

Samurai for sure. Wouldn't be hard to get some utility out of the magics if need be, but start me off with a bleeder and dope armor~
Like the sound of Confessor. Probably go either that or just grind it out with Wretch.
What does the mind stat actually do?
Strength builds where always my go to in dark souls. Will be for this game as well

In games like DS1 you pretty much do without armor so its true in a sense

So basically you either wanna choose Samurai if u want more strength, confessor if u want more magic or wretch if u just want a well rounded build that can do a bit of everything.

You're in for a treat! You MUST play DS 1 - 3. You must.
1 is the purest ( and the hardest by far ), 2 has the most heart ( it's so amazing in that regard ) and of course 3 is the most technically impressive ( and has the most refined gameplay ).
All 3 of them will test your resolve. Push through and you'll evolve into a totally different type of gamer. Souls is the truth man...
Always pick Wretch (or Deprived) on your first playthrough. It'll be harder, sure, but collecting items early on is much more rewarding and you get to define your own character in a more nuanced way rather than jumping to pre-determined class.
Naa
Maybe second play through, but it’s hard enough for us that are new to the series lmao
