  • A little while ago, we published a beginners tips guide to #EldenRing - what we didn’t realise though, was that for some these tips weren’t beginner enough. If this is your first From Software game, a lot of the most basic systems here are not obvious at all. So, Aoife Wilson is stripping it right back to the very beginning for anyone who might be struggling still. This is Elden Ring for Dummies - that is, anyone who just needs a bit of a helping hand from someone in the know, explaining the things that From Software didn’t. We cover attributes, levelling, weapon scaling, equip loads, magic use, invincibility frames, Spirit Summons, the HUD, flasks, item crafting AND MORE. Let us know if you have any further questions in the comments! #Eurogamer #EldenRingforDummies

      Nah this game sucks. I should’nt have to CZcams everything when playing a game . Sick of people telling t me not to get discouraged when I can’t even walk around without dying a million times . What about that is fun ? WhT about YouTubing how to every little basic thing fun ? Gameplay is purposely sluggish and terrible jjst to make it more difficult . Anybody who thinks this game is good is lying to themselves . Yea it looks really cool. Just about it though . I’ve been gaming for 20+ years . This is an over complicated mess . I’m literally just sitting here staring at the screen not knowing what to do or where to go . Can’t move becuase I’ll probably get killed by jjst about anything that moves . Lol yeah like the videos telling you how to get the best early gear for your build, but you need to be at least a level 80+ to even get to the places or kill the major boss that drops it... Shit I have been killing smaller things over and over again grinding just to level up a bit so I can take a damn hit without dying. It doesn't help that my brain is still telling my hands I'm still playing the game I was last week, so I keep drinking my damn flasks while trying to attack...I'm not sure I like this controller configuration. I really wish that similar games would use similar controller configurations so that switching between games would be much smoother and easier for people to understand if they play that style of game.
      And boy don't let corporate know how much money they could make by selling game saves in a store... 😆

    Quick tip for getting staffs, bows, other weapons early on. As soon as you go to the roundtable the first time you can find a statue in the back area of the left hand hallway (not the one with the blacksmith) that sells ALL the starter weapons for every other class you didnt choose (bows, staffs, seals, axes, daggers, shields, etc.). It also sells some armor and other minor items. Hugely beneficial especially for finding a bow very early.
    Also, the Golden runes you pick up (i.e. the ones you find on the ground in skulls, dropped by enemies, or laying throughout the world) these are not added to your rune count UNTIL you use them BUT wait until you are at a site of grace or merchant to use them when youre in need of some extra runes to purchase items or reach the amount needed for next level up. Try not to use them all if you dont need to. They can be a great emergency stash if you die before recollecting your dropped runes.
    (Edit: Staffs not available at twins but all other weapons def are)

    One thing I noticed was that while on the map, you can press a button (L1 on PS) to show areas where summoning (multiplayer status) is possible. Seems to work for any unfogged part of the map even without a map fragment, and it shows them in areas (like a cave) you haven't discovered yet; basically pointing out there is something there worth exploring.

    • @akuskus
      @akuskus Před 2 lety +3

      @@jasonlarocque2761 I am also not an expert but my vague understanding is that the letters mean how well the weapon damange scales based on your attribute level. Like S is the best, then comes A to E. In general, when you add points to, for example, dexterity, the weapon becomes better. The letter determines how much better it becomes, so if the weapon has a "good" letter in dexterity, the more better it becomes upon each added point in dexterity attribute. Something like that.

    • @nightcatarts
      @nightcatarts Před 2 lety +4

      @@akuskus That is correct; better scaling in a stat means that having more of that attribute will give you greater damage with that weapon, so using weapons that scale well to your highest attribute (or putting levels into the attribute the weapon you want scales to) is recommended. Scaling can also be improved by improving the weapon, but that's a whole other confusing thing.

      that is excellent skill, I must say. those are like bragging rights runs with the simplest equipments. well done. in souls games, timing is everything. I’m with you. Same experience for me.
      My only real gripe is that we really shouldn’t have to be in a position where we’re searching on here, or elsewhere, for tips. The game should do all that.
      In the “old days” if you bought a physical game you would usually get a manual with it. There were times when that manual was a lifesaver. I often used to read it before starting whatever game I was going to play, and it was useful to keep next to you during a session. Nowadays, unless the game explains things in the game, you end up searching online, which Im not a fan of. Sure, it’s really helpful, BUT Ive seen spoilers doing that and I don’t want to see spoilers. Even this video, which is first class, has location spoilers I’d rather not see. When I explore big games like this, I want my experience to be as fresh as possible.

    OMG! Finally found a video that is helpful. I am new to the souls genre and was really hard for me to understand the game and its mechanics and different features it offer. I have watched many videos that instructs us what to do rather than explain the feature. This video helps us to play with our own style,, as you explain all the features which helps us to decide how to go about the game. Thank you for this

    Just a heads up, Arcane does more in Elden Ring than previous games and more than just item find. It boosts dragon magic and also boosts status effects (bleeding, poison, rot etc etc)

    This video has been super helpful with very minimal spoilers which I truly appreciate. I look forward to other help videos and combat videos as well. I'm completely new to Souls games and the more I play, the more I realize I need help. I have seen combat videos with players able to circle around their opponents to get to their back. I'm having difficulty executing that maneouvre. I need to practice.

      I’d recommend exploring most of Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula before venturing into Stormveil Castle. I got to about level 30 before entering Stormveil, and that seemed to work.
      Good luck!

    • @daniellefoster6039
      @daniellefoster6039 Před 2 lety +1

      Start with some of the mini-bosses in the caves in Limgrave - similar kind of flow to the battle but they're easier with smaller health bars.
      As you play the game you'll get a feel for when you're underlevelled, but a general tip is that the minor enemies you come across in an area shouldn't give you much trouble when you fight them one by one. (Mobs are always a bad time.)

    Fantastic guide that I wish I'd found sooner! I've picked up a few extra tips that I'd definitely add though. First, Arcane does everything you described but it also scales status effect build-ups like bleed or poison so it's definitely worth investing in if you have weapons that do that too. Second, the pouch is a much easier way to access flasks or Torrent's whistle than the main equipment slots as it's always a fixed, two-button press to use them instead of a press and hold of the D-Pad. Great for quickly chugging a flask mid-combat or hopping on Torrent to flee a bad situation!
