EBIKE HUB Motor Modification Phase Wires Replacement Thicker Gauge DIY

- Hello this is my very first video out of hopefully many others soon to be posted. I had noticed one day that my 48v 1000W ebike motor had stopped and started and wasn't functioning properly. Taking a closer look, there were cuts and slices up and down the length of the phase wires. I then made this project which showcases my own work of replacing the wires for thicker gauge ones. The process is very do-able and the only real difficult part about it is fitting the thicker gauge wires through the shaft of the motor. I widened up the hole with a drill bit and used grease to lubricate the wires.
At this moment, three weeks have passed since making the video and I have not had any problem since then while riding it. I am very satisfied with having done this project and would like to share it with anyone else who might be interested and needed an example to familiarize themselves with the process through example.
I hope this helped, and if you are interested in these videos please subscribe as I will be posting more projects that I do in my garage. I am just beginning my youtube journey with this first video so thank you for being part of this and hope to provide better and more helpful videos with each upload. Thanks! - Jak na to + styl
The 5 small "phase" wires are actually the hall sensor wiring, no reason to make them thicker gauge since they dont are not powering the motor.
They are only for monitoring the motor position.
No harm done by replacing these wires but better to just use the space for thicker phase wires (the 3 thicker wires)
So I understand the motor spins when the phase wife is powered up and the hall sensor tells it's position like a CPS crank position sensor..I'm wrapping my head
I did all this about 4 years ago to mine with silver plated wire. Make the SWG bigger on wires then drill out axle. Alot can be done to improve these motors. Especially Chinese ones. Good to see other people have a go....
What kind exactly was the wire? And what gauge???
Good video! Thanks
Thanks for this👍
fsure tyty too
wow!!! appreciate show me the way. good video. man.
10Q man!
i have the same motor ,we enlarged the slightly the hole through the axle we removed the silicon from the wire and recovered it with heat shrink as its thinner than silicon now we have air craft grade 8 guage phase wires abd changed hall sensor wires to thinner and stronger type, the motor now runs on 84 volts with 150 amp controller
hits a solid 65 miles per hour now not bad for 180 dollar motor
Hi, what gauge and type of wire did you use to replace the original ones?
You didn't add any gasket sealer when you put the covers back on...?
Great job next job balance the wheel
I actually am going to post a video of that next!
How many amp did it take to melt those small wires what where you running before then what size wire was the one that melted ???
'a miracle'. A miracle indeed, with all that solder your are splattering over your windings...
And drill bit shavings..cover it up?
I'm about to purchase a Chinese 3k watt hub and am so glad to see this video. I'm already prepared for mandatory upgrades.
That's awesome stay safe though. I think safety shouldn't be compromised for a desire for more if there is uncertainty about it. Good luck though I'm sure you know what'll be good or not!
@@jH100garage I have 220 miles on it now. Shortened the phase wires about a foot, built my own battery with 10g silicone wire with less than 12" of length. No issues. On wide open runs more than five minutes, the 10g gets a little warm.
@@jH100garage thank you again for posting the videos. Very helpful and it gave me the confidence to tackle stuff I thought was too difficult.

Music super bro
What gauge did you use for the phase?
Do you know how many times I googled differently worded sentences just to find out how to attach the phase wire’s to the copper windings. NOBODY HAS IT ON THEIR VIDEOS. I had given up and I just stumble onto yours. So you just used solder? Someone told me that I can’t use solder due to melting temp etc etc. clearly they just wanted me to buy a new hub Moto from them. I hope I can garner enough info from your video to do this myself.
Thanks
Thank you.
What's ironic is the fact that the original state which I'm unsure if can be seen in the video but anyways it is also simply just soldered. I believe something important to consider is how you'll keep these phase wires separate from each other and not shorting each other which makes it necessary to use a shrink tube wrap or just electrical tape. Originally I found what I believe is fiberglass covering each phase wire to keep them separated from each other.
Well anyways to this day it is still running great and I don't believe using solder is a problem at all and also that's what I found had been used originally anyway. I'd even bet it's the case with your hub motor as well. By the way I appreciate your comment and you are definitely welcome!
Please how many neodymium magnet i can insert of 36 pole of washing machine
Okay… I have a 1000 watt that phase wires I want to upgrade.. What size wire? And what kind?
Hello sir
I have a 6 wire motor and 1 hall connection...
When i connect the 3 wires of motor from the controller then with the load starting torque is zero and the main wire of the motor is heat......
I also connected the 2 controllers with the motor but the problem is the same.....
This motor is 3 phase wires (blue, green, yellow) and 6 hall wires (red, black, blue, green, yellow). I'm not sure I can tell you how to do one that is like yours... Also mine is connected to a single controller not two. I think you might have a scooter type?
upgrading the hall wires aint gonna do anything?
The 3 phase wires along with also the 6 hall wires were replaced with thicker gauge. But the problem is the space of the hole won't allow for too much of a difference but this made a noticeable improvement in my opinion!
Hello sir I want motor sir
Didn't get thing about this it was to fast
Terrible sounds coming from my speakers here, wtf bro. Nwo got you bro, stop playing the victim and living the victim life.
Crap music ….spoils the show !
