"You have body, you have a mind, you have breadth. That's all you need." Wonderfully put.

At the core of his teachings, Rupert really makes it simple - repeatedly go to the sense of being aware, over and over until you eventually "move in". He certainly encourages that. I've heard him say it countless times over the years. However, in your defence, I have noticed his more recent clips on his channel are more "poetic" and less "practical". I much prefer practical Rupert. Over the years, he has provided me with many sharp and reliable insights into the nature of no-self, free will, non-locality, collapse of subject/object, time, suffering and more. He has been profoundly helpful. This has mostly been from his youtube vids and I bought a few recordings from his site too. I don't intend to go to a retreat.
As for the "exotic" thing, my interpretation is that he just means your true being is flavourless. It's not waiting for you in India some time in the future. It's right here and now in this very moment. A very powerful pointer, to think that when you're at the post office, or grocery shopping, or whatever, your true nature is no less there than in some ashram in India. I thought this was a skillful and important pointer to help with isolating our true nature from its content. I don't for a second think he is against exotic things, or the concept of god, no way. It's just a non-dual pointing, and I think a great one.
I also love Francis. I think their different styles complement each other well. But one thing about them is that you can easily walk away not feeling like they encourage "practice". Actually, they do, but they distinctly try to encourage it as a beautiful exploration that you *want* to do rather than a grim duty that many of us see it as. I feel that this is not a realistic expectation in many people, but it does leave you with a sense of "wow, maybe I could fall in love with this exploration" which I think is a clever approach and eventually becomes essential if we want to get a (to quote another modern favourite of mine, Shinzen Young) "positive feedback loop" going where we love practicing so we do it, and therefore exponentially progress.
In short, I think Rupert and Francis are 2 of the best modern teachers we could ask for and we're lucky to have them. While Rupert can seem a bit fluffy and poetic at first glance, they are incredibly practical teachers who deliver the goods if you really dig into their material. At least in my experience.

We can have fun with the intellect, and I sure have. But, it all comes down to going inward and discovering for yourself. Rupert Spira goes over my head with words, yet I appreciate his analogies. I think each person will resonate differently with each teacher.
My favorite is Ram Dass. Just the transmission of energy through his videos opens up my heart.
With all that being said, I crave to hear your direct message from your heart, not your intellect. And go. ❤

Check out the latest Spira videos/books. He mentions meditation and prayer. Both can be used as a direct awareness of Oneness. This immersion in God is available through prayer (as in “The Song of Prayer” pamphlet(ACIM) and lessons 169 and 189 of the book “ACIM”. The various deep prayer practices of the Western tradition can guide us to the same place as the Eastern methods. The core message of all these techniques is the same, the methodology is different. May you REST IN GOD.

There was a zen quote that went something like "meditation make enlightenment happen, but it creates the right conditions for it to happen", something along those lines.

You have a good and healthy portion of 'common sense'. And the subject of non-duality definitely needs that. I don't believe true growth can be achieved on the spiritual, self-investigative path without 'common sense'. Those who foolishly try it get stuck in some corner of their own psyche repeating 'I don't exist', with a frenetic compulsion which is a sad thing to behold.

Best pointing is, that thought is it. Movement is it. This non-thinking madness is the most destructive advice. One should stop thinking as much as one should stop circulating blood when it comes to awakening.

There is nothing wrong with non-thinking. This is the aim of meditation. To transcend the mind. You do it every night in deep sleep.

just checking this out because of the sort of clickbaity title. can't say I agree though. having spent the last three years at rupert's retreats when he's in my neighborhood spring and fall, this particular video is lagging far behind (he's got a lovely beard now!) so one or two things: of course one doesn't *need* a retreat, one goes for community. and the "god" thing is always a point of discussion, I see it, and many others do, as a placeholder--a sound, a signifier, shorthand--to be used or not. rupert would also I believe be the first to say he has no problem with a lively satsang, everyone welcome. same with eckhart and mooji and krishnamurti, imho.

Daily mediation is a practice that most spiritual seekers need to cultivate and go through. Abiding in awareness is advanced and most never reach it if they have skipped the preliminary work. Doesn't matter how much they talk about it.

I was hoping to find out What Non-Duality Teachers Still Won't/Don't Tell You. Was it that part of your video "that we don't need a book, a friend, a video or go on retreat"? If so, what is the significance of this? Not that I disagree but you emphasizing this makes me feel that I might have missed something deeper or is your title of this video just click bait. I do like your style and your observations on Rupert. Personally I think Rupert is a fraud and Lucille is very tedious. Take care.
