    This was very helpful. I ended up using a drive racket with a screw bit at the tip since I didn't want to remove the wheel and didn't have the funky angled screwdriver like thing that you had. Worked out fine.
    Thank you

    Great video. Installed mine today on my brand new 23' PHEV (Prime). Easiest way to get access without removing the wheels is to rase rhe rear axel with a jack just enough for the chassi to rise away from the rear tires. That gives yoy plenty of access at the rear. For the front, just turn the wheels left and right for easy access. I also put some clear tape under the mudflap against the painted parts. That helped to make the fit 100% and will protect the paint.

    Good baseline install video to get you started. I have a 2023 Rav4 Hybrid XLE and it took me 45 mins, just wanted to be careful. Two tips that will make this go quickly - (a) use a small drill bit to pre-drill the dimples in the rear installs followed by a larger drill bit so the the hole is large enough for the screws - you can pull the rear fenders out a couple of inches to make it easier to pre-drill. After you install the clips, it's super easy. (b) Place the top 3 screws in-place, do not tightened yet. Start tightening the two bottom bolts then start tightening the remaining 3 screws as you push the mud guards against the rear fender.

    I installed mine a few weeks ago. I got the OEM ones too but was missing pins. I just used the same ones I took off. I used a ratchet adapter to get the back screws on.

    @JASCdmolay Před 2 lety

    Tip: I ended up tapping the dimples (rear) with a nail to make the holes bigger so it will be easier to hand tight them. Thanks again for the tutorial.

  • @JASCdmolay
    @JASCdmolay Před 2 lety +1

    Thanks homie, for this tutorial. I was worried I may have to buy a right angle drill just for this project as recommended by others. Got the wife a 22 xle premium AWD a couple of weeks ago. I normally buy 1-2 year old used. But man, brand new is thousands cheaper than used at CVNA or KMX. By my estimate I overpaid about $500-$700 over MSRP because the stuff that southeast Toyota add, and the dealership fee too.
    Crazy market, but not sustainable for these 2 used car market sellers. If you are patient you'll get a very good deal from these 2 within 2 years. Only reason I bought one now is because Carvana bought my kid's 2014 Camry SE for about 13.5K with almost 92K mis. on it already. Not bad, considering I bought it used back in 2016 for 17K OTD with 17K+ miles. I bet it is being sold for almost 20K maybe more.
    Publicly traded company Autonation, is the one to buy a brand new car. They will not rob you like the indelpendent dealerships do. Got a good deal with their dealership in Austin for a new Corolla SE last summer for my kid.
    They'll beat their competitor's offer. Shame on Toyota for allowing the greedy dealers to harm their loyal customers. At least Ford is going after its erring dealers.

    • @HadesOmega
      @HadesOmega  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah buying a car right now is pretty crazy I think I got an ok deal. My Rav4 Prime SE was $42k with the weather and moonroof package then it had a $5k markup. I got so many discounts though it brought it to $40k otd.

    • @JASCdmolay
      @JASCdmolay Před 2 lety

      @@HadesOmega That was a good deal. One of the dealers here in Central FL wants $42k for an Adventure grade. Also, I had Toyota installed the body side moldings for $100 and yeah, the rear quarter panel is curved. It is not really noticeable unless you really stare at them from the rear. But I saw an after market installed by a Russian(?) guy and that one looks much better than OEM. The YT channel I believe is Morozov. Regards

    20:28 That screw doesn't go in the top hole of the mudguard. 16:38 Remember you took out one of those push in fastners earlier , that goes back thru the mud guard and into the top hole. 28:30 The front is much easier then the rear , but you should of turned the steering wheel to give yourself much more room to install the screws.

      Cool yeah I just googled where I could find them cheapest and where I bought my Rav4 was the cheapest. But to get it the cheapest I needed to order it online. You can get it even cheaper if you order it on when a holiday comes up I found out like 10% cheaper.

    Could I put all the screws in loosley, adjust the position of the mudguard, and THEN tighten the screws so I don't have to re-adjust?
    On the front, should one screw go on the bottom and one screw near the wheel to hold the mudguard more securely? The rest of the holes with clips? Thanx.

    • @HadesOmega
      @HadesOmega  Před 2 lety

      Yes you can do that but you'd have to get the tension on the screw just right. You can always just loosen the screws and readjust it later.

    Hello! I just found this video and want to know if you think that the flaps are needed in regular roads only. I just got my RAV4 and I’m aware that the black glass paint in the guards get scratched very easily. What do you think?
    If I end up buying it I’ll follow all your tips for sure. Great job!

    • @HadesOmega
      @HadesOmega  Před 11 měsíci +1

      To be honest no you don't really need them. They do however help keep road debris, mud, rain from getting kickup on the body. But just wash your Rav4 and it'll be fine. It's up to if you like how it looks.

    Hi did you use any tool to enlarge those dimple holes on the rear? It looks like it needs drilling, cant drill the screw in, but you got yours by hand.

    • @HadesOmega
      @HadesOmega  Před 2 lety

      I didn't, I used the screw to tap it with a screwdriver, it's a self tapping screw. You can use a very small drill if you want but you will probably have to take the wheel off.

  • @RodrigoRosa
    @RodrigoRosa Před 9 měsíci

    how about using a strip of paint protection film near the edges before putting the mud guards on?
    do you think that would allow removing them one day without paint damage?

    • @HadesOmega
      @HadesOmega  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Sure, you could probably just put a painters tape if its on the inside

  • @BVRacingandDrifting
    @BVRacingandDrifting Před 2 lety

    25:44 The right rear won't line up nicely because the top hole of the guard does not sit directly on top of the hole on the wheel well. For me I modified the hole with a drill bit and made it a little larger depending on what side you are on. The hole in the guard will then be oblong, but you will have a clear entry for the screw without part of the mud guard pushing against the screw causing the gap.

    Thank you for the sharing. RAV4 Prime is my favorite car. Will you install side body molding? I think you should. The only thin I do not like is side roof rack bar. I do not know why Toyota like side roof rack like this. I just want the 2013-2018 style side roof rack or TRD and Adventure side roof rack. Other than that, RAV4 Prime is the most I want.

    • @HadesOmega
      @HadesOmega  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I don't think they added any noise, at least that I can tell. And yes it kind of looks funky since they are not painted like the rest of the car.
      I installed some foglights and I painted the bezels with plastidip and sprayed a plastidip glossifier on top to make them shinier. They look great and plastidip resist rock ships well. So there is that option with the Mudguards. If I was to do it again I would have plastidipped them like I mentioned.
      I talk about it in this video and you can get a look at it:

    bad idea? why?

    • @HadesOmega
      @HadesOmega  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I thought about plasidipping them and adding a glossifier. I actually did that with my fog light bezel. It was glossy but it's not as glossy as the original paint.

  • @kiegle1
    @kiegle1 Před rokem +1

    I imagine there is some variance, but mine fit without any gaps larger .5mm or so. I think it helps to put all the fastener is place to within a couple of turns of tight, and then start from the top down, firmly pushing the flap into position over the trim and tightening. The widest gaps I got using this method was inside the wheel well. I also have the SE and coated the flaps with graphene ceramic coating. It made them darker and more kind of.... matte shine. I'm sure it wont last long, but I like the look and will probably keep up on it when washing.
