    Got one and installed a couple days ago. Looking forward to using it very soon while I am out of town each week at all the great free camping spots here in NY. Good build guys!

    This is very exciting news! I'm am leaning towards a RAV4 Prime for my next vehicle, had been researching camping kit solutions and come across your channel recently. Your solution is so elegant that I was actually rethinking whether I needed chuck the idea of getting a Prime and just get a hybrid instead, but now I can get either! Thanks so much for producing such a cool solution to outfitting the RAV4 as a camper, in all its trims.

      Thank you so much for your enthusiastic response! We're thrilled that you love our solution! We understand the dilemma of choosing between different car options. Whether you choose the Prime or hybrid, we're delighted to help you make the most of your adventures. Happy camping! ⛺

      I got the Rav4 Prime and never looked back. With the Prime, you get the added bonus of ev miles. 42-50 miles on a single charge. You get the best of both worlds.

    Love this. You said to comment with what you’d like to see next. What I’ve noticed with the RAV4 and Highlander is, because of the angle, the rear cargo door doesn’t provide any protection from rain for the person when it’s open and you are trying to retrieve items from the back. For me, I’m getting soaked while trying to retrieve my walker or wheelchair from the cargo area. I would like to see something that could be attached somehow that easily either slides out or flips out to create just enough cover for a person to be able to stand to retrieve things from the cargo area without getting drenched. This could also be used to provide cover for a lawn chair for tailgating or cooking out of a back. I know they make tent-like structures but they require time to set up (and poles/stakes) but I’d like something that takes literally seconds to deploy and retract because, in my case, I just need cover just long enough to put my mobility device in/out along with the groceries. I realize when it retracts, it will have rain on it but swiping it with a towel is not a big deal. I’m looking at a new RAV4 Prime and this issue is a sticking point.

      @@WheelsFeels Got the RAV4 Prime and have been trying to problem solve this since I know it will take you time to engineer something if you choose to do this. I’m leaning toward taking a couple pieces of rigid but relatively thin smokey acrylic sheets and connecting two pieces together with 180 degree locking hinges like they use for table extensions. Then I think I should be able to fold it at the hinge and attach one side to the interior backside of the cargo door with double sided alien tape. When I arrive at the store, I should be able to open the cargo door, unfold it (creating a flip out cover), and lock the the hinge to allow part of the acrylic sheet to extend beyond the edge of the now open cargo door. I t won’t gain a ton of cover but should get me just enough to stay dryer. I’m not a handy person so I don’t know if this will work or even how those hinges actually work but I figure I can experiment since the alien tape is strong but fully removable without residue.

    I wish there is a "half" or "60/40" system where I can put fridge on one side.

    • @WheelsFeels
      @WheelsFeels  Před 21 dnem

      @@matrix-fh9tn We don't have such a division for RAV4s because the trunk isn't too big so we're making a solid construction. But you can mount your fridge on the top. Our new version withstands 250-350 lbs on the top and 250 lbs when you're pulling the sliders.

    This would be a really cool addition to the vehicles inside the dealership set up to show their off road and camping abilities. I am sure dealerships would perhaps let you make some for show room cars, especially with the dealer logo incorporated to the design.

    I absolutely love this, but in terms of spare tire access? You have to hold up the drawers (and what ever might be in them), AND hold up the cover of the spare tire, AND remove the spare tire… But only have two hands. I am considering purchasing this, but would love to see an update - maybe a magnetic clip to attach the tire cover to the base of the drawers… and in terms of holding up the platform? … is there a way from the ceiling to hold it temporarily ? Or Some kind of bar system that can attach to the sides and prevent it from dropping? It would be a game changer to have that; i don’t want to use my spare - but if i have to? I want to make it as easy as possible.

    Yes a removal box is the way to go if it's still a daily driver.

    • @WheelsFeels
      @WheelsFeels  Před 5 měsíci

      Thank you! You can remove it easily, but we suggest using it daily too. It protects the floor from brakes. Also, it helps to arrange your car stuff like tools, rags, and chemicals and move safely fragile items.

    • @bubbalo3388
      @bubbalo3388 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yep. The key is that you can take it out if needed, unlike some builds that are literally built in.

    Looks great! I have a prime XSE with the jbl sub in the back. Might have to look into this with my overland/camping setup.

    • @WheelsFeels
      @WheelsFeels  Před 3 měsíci

      Thank you! This version is made for the Prime without a speaker. It will be secured just at the right side in the Prime with a speaker due to trunk construction. It is reliable but differs a little from the Prime without a speaker. There will be no cap on the left side of the trunk with a sub, because it is not possible to fix it correctly there.

  • @raywashburn1825
    @raywashburn1825 Před 5 měsíci +3

    It seems like it might not work for the Prime XSE. The version in the video does not have the JBL Base speaker/booster in the left rear.

    • @WheelsFeels
      @WheelsFeels  Před 5 měsíci +4

      Hi! You're right. You can use it just without the left bracket and the left cap. We'll present the version that fits the JBL speaker soon!

      @@WheelsFeels hey, I’d love this. I’m the same prospective purchaser who commented about a way to hold up drawers/ base when accessing the spare tire. I also saw somewhere that you mention a wight limit up to 350; between me (not slim we’ll say), pets, additional gear, water - just in the context of a sleeping set up - like if i decided to try to camp in it cross country (im tempted to give it a go!)
