For me rihanna cannot hold a candle to the truely great voices of course, but she has a certain something special that trumps talent in the music business, and that is star power. The look, magnetism, style and demeanor are enough to carry her to super stardom. And its fair to be critical when it comes to her vocal ability, especially when you see here clowning on the mic in a way that would be totally unacceptable for anyone else. But her voice is unique, she's likeable enough to justify having stands, and truely is a pop hit wonder. We are all entitled to our opinions. Whitney is the G.O.A.T, but i still love me some rihanna and listen to her more often even though Whitneys work moves me in a way rihannas just can't.

I think you should also check out the sneaky little rehearsal for SNL that Mariah and her backup singers did of Baby It's All In Your Mind. The whistle register is ON in that one. I grew up watching the VHS tape of her documentary and the version of Vanishing on that was killer as well, but sadly, she doesn't go into whistle register in it. I'm happy to have come across this gem. I gotta tell you, your reaction videos and attention to detail makes my heart soar because I, too, appreciate vocals immensely.
