She reminds me of a modern day Minnie Riperton( her idol as well), along with Chante Moore,Deniece Williams.And Rachelle Ferell and Lisa Fischer Jean Carne,etc. This talented sistas take whistle register and wide ranges to a whole new level. I'd argue that Mariah on this night (this performance + If It's Over on SNL) is the best Mariah we've ever seen. She's never sounded better IMO. I know most think Daydream is her vocal prime, but I've always found her tone then a bit too light, and I much prefer the darker/fuller tone prior to Daydream. This and If It's Over are simply perfection.

The Grammy’s performance in 1992 is slightly better in terms of technical refinement.
