  • I think I murdered my nut slotting files with this one. Cutting a brass nut from scratch is time consuiming but worth it in the end. It looks beautiful installed and seems to work just fine. As for any tonal difference...??? I have no idea. Not to my untrained ear.

"A pain in the ass" That's an understatement. You did a good job. Nice guitar

Just a couple of points - when copying the original nut don't presume it has the correct spacing. Also, rather than trim both ends of the nut when fitted, the nut can be slid over. The waste is trimmed off just the one side before fitting with a final clean up when in place. This gies a better appearance with less chance of marking the finish.

That is a stonking piece of wood. Nudges 'butterscotch' out of the way a bit with the subtle front pattern.

Very nice job considering the tricky material to work with.

I had a 1982 Guild M80 guitar with a brass nut and I loved it! Also loved the Black Shuck rendition at the end! 🎼🤘😆👍🎶

Great job. That neck has an awesome grain pattern. Now the only thing left to do idd EVO gold frets & everything will be gold!

Nice work man! I did the same on my '16 Les Paul. Pain in the ass, but great results. Plus, the polished brass looks like a nice piece of jewelry. Cheers!

How does such a nice looking instrument end up with a rounded nut in a flat slot? Little wonder it didn't sound very good.

The suffering is palpable in this video. I will never take getting a brass nut installed lightly, thank you sir
