I don't like religious stuff, but I like the idea of making my own mantra with my own words. I should give it a try, thank you!

That part about why we’re unwilling to sit with ourselves is so wise 👏 thank you

I chant with Krishna Das, either on CZcams or on stereo. Much easier than sitting meditation. I also practice Seva, which is meditation in action.

I believe when going for a sentence as a mantra it can be helpful to have it rythmic. We in the end are collection of rythms and are also easily affected by it in the mood. Having a mantra that has a good riddim, you can easier repeat it, speed it up or slow it down and you won't tounge twist your mind around it. People get in trance on the dancefloor alone. So make use of that feature too when picking your mantra. Let it groove.

Thank you for sharing this informative video. I have only been meditating for a couple days and the mantra I chose for myself is IAL, sounds like I'll, for I Am Loved.

You are a wonderful lecturer. There are 3 levels of mantra instruction . First is the unawakened mantra, which you have to awaken by intensive practice. Second is the “breath” transmission, where someone who has mantra siddhi verbally instructs you in the mantra. Third is the “Mind” transmission, where the mantra is instructed from the level of Presence, or pure consciousness, so the realization of the mantra occurs more quickly.. Every level has benefits, both individually and on the environment. 😊

I like the old fashioned TM mantras as that is what I started out on. minet.org/mantras.html They work well and are easy to transcend with. They never get verbally repeated but instead are mentally recited, and then diminished until they are just an idea.

Om Namo, serenity prayer is also good, but I like One, it resonates so nicely. May have to try it. Vippassana Meditation (silent) allows no sound, or special breathing etc., allegedly based directly from the Mahatma's instruction, it goes into the body, feeling at times within it's cells or atoms but observing "what is" not what we seek to see or feel.

Unsure if you’re aware, but you can always slow down or speed up playback. It’s an option if you just hit top of screen. Very easy

What do you think about the Catholic rosary? It seemed to be like any other mantra except it required more concentration. But it establishes a nice breathing pattern that was very relaxing to me. I'm not RC but I tried it when I was stressed out years ago.

What are mantras? I'm struggling to understand what it is how do you meditate while focusing on making distraction noise that stops inhibits meditation as takes more concentration than driving a car 😔🙈 its so frustrating I don't understand how concentrating so hard can be meditation 😫
