    Black ceiling stimulates our visual perception as if the ceiling is higher than it actually is. This phenomenon helps create nice spaces in the architectural industry. Colors and its psychological influence into our brain plays big time into what surrounds us. Now, about the reflections obviously shiny surfaces reflect better then opaque ones but we all know that black is the worts in albedo factor.

    I’ve been a carpenter and furniture maker for over 20 years. Your project are always well thought out and really nicely executed with an eye for every detail. It’s great to see other craftsmen care much as I do for even the smallest details to come together seamlessly! You and Kyle are definitely outstanding tradesmen and are always looking for a better solution to problems and details. From one picky sob, keep up the fantastic work!!

    Great point on the saw blade height, I was once told by the shop that sharpens blades for met that the blade will cut cleaner and chip less if you adjust it just high enough so the carbides are just above the top of the board you are ripping. That way they are in contact with the material less and hit the board going down like a chisel.
    I’ve never actually done an A/B and it means I would get a deeper cut, was wondering if anyone else had heard something similar?

    • @michaeldaniel7012
      @michaeldaniel7012 Před 10 měsíci

      I am a cabinet maker by trade, I found that unless the blade is really sharp you will won’t get a really clean cut on the top with the blade only 1/8 “ above the material. Just my experience.

    Love your work, work ethic and quest for efficiency. I don't want to be that guy but could you capture your plastic sawdust. We, as in the USA water supply, has a huge issue with micro plastics in the environment. The saw dust on the ground and in the air flows into creeks and rivers and ends up in the food we eat. I know you are health conscious so you might appreciate the thought. Thank you for your videos and sharing your techniques!

    You should prebuild your jam extensions and screw them together with that material. Also give yourself a 1/4" reveal from the inside of your window frame. When installing them all put together like that, use round head screws as spacers screwed into the framing instead of wood shims to keep the jam extension locked into place. That's the way I do solid wood window trim like that. I haven't worked with plastic before but have worked with aluminum. Aluminum is a completely different animal.

    My dad cut the same finger off in a table saw blade three different times. He sewed his finger back together each time with the help of whiskey for the pain medicine. The third time the pain was to great after he had sewed it back together so he went to the hospital to get some pain medicine. The doctor said that he did a great job sewing it back on. It just got an eighth of an inch shorter each time.

I see Greg cut and roll up what might just be a piece of white flat metal that goes across the header. I don’t understand how the garage door guy is gonna mount his rails and spring etc to the ribbed metal? Or is there enough clearance? Thanks!!

    Vapor barrier or no vapor barrier seems to be a big question or topic for discussion. Is it effective when doing metal in the ceiling like this if the roof is sheathed, has synthetic felt underlayment and metal roof covering on top? I have a customer that wants his garage finished on the inside similar to this but it’s conventional framed ….

    You could get away with using 10 Cortex screws per window but it is better to use 16 to 24 because PVC will expand, contract & warp. I am planning to use 5/4" PVC trim outside with a rabbit cut out for vinyl siding and using these Cortex screws. This will allow me to use vinyl siding yet retain the real look of wood siding and not have traditional vinyl siding trims.
