That fight not only stole Conor's main event thunder, but it shaved years off Robbie and Rory's careers and/or lives.
Great fight but it’s a reach to say it stole the main events thunder. The main event was a ridiculously huge fight with a mental build up and it well lived up to the hype

One fight I was so sad not to see is probably one of the most underrated fights I’ve ever see. “Korean super boy” VS Cub Swanson. Best fight no one talks about
I'm so with you. Choi's been on a bit of a slide, but up until that point he was a monster who just plowed through men who were infinitely more physically imposing (seeing him face off with Thiago Tavares was one of the most hilarious visual contrasts I'd ever seen in MMA, while seeing him subsequently crush Tavares was one of the most visually confusing). Cub was the first opponent to draw a competitive fight out of Choi, and MAN did that fight rock. Unfortunately I think that bout shook Choi's confidence, and I hope the kid gets it back before it's too late.
The guys who make this list still think its 2014, and just loove sucking the dick of the casual friendly/talent wasteland divisions of HW and LHW.
Check the fight of the year list. The only fight they mention from that is Weili-JJ they forgot all the rest lol.
I waited the whole vid waiting to hear for this fight but it never came. It was FOTY for crying out loud and def overshadowed the main event

Robbie Lawler vs Rory MacDonald 2 was definitely an all-time classic fight that fans love, but also lots of fans that night were still massive pump to see Conor fight.

Masvidal vs Askren? No one was talking about Jones-Santos after that flying knee.
Also it was right after Błachowicz sent Rockhold to the shadow realm again.
No, I disagree. Santos actually was arguably the winner in that fight and highly debated by the fans. So the main event was also very much talked about.

You're both right. Jones vs. Santos was important to the mma fan base because Jones was beating everybody pretty easily but he couldn't get the upper hand on a guy with one knee completely disconnected on the inside. Jones threw flying knees into Santos face to no effect. Jones had never looked more beatable. I believe that if the judges didn't think Santos injuries were career ending and he was going to get stripped eventually they would have scored the fight honestly and Santos would have left as champion.
However, Masvidal's flying knee into Askren made international news outside of MMA media and was the top story on ESPN during a very busy sports weekend. Masvidal vs. Askren wasn't more important but definitely more people knew about it by a large margin. That fight wasn't even the co-main event. The Co-Main event was Paulo Costa vs. Yoel Romero, and if Masvidal vs. Askren wasn't on that card we could be debating if Costa vs. Romero meets the requirements for this list too.

Lawler vs Rory 2 is the best fight of all time and it definitely stole the show even from Conor's historic victory over Mendes. I am appalled by the lack of its inclusion

It was definitely better then expected and imo the greatest fight ever but because the Conor mendes fight lived up to the hype it didn’t fully steal the show although it was a better fight.
Zhang Joanna happened on my birthday and I just wanted to flex that lol

@Blessed Boxer Gaethje vs Ferguson was in UFC 249. Weili vs Joanna was on UFC 248. The co-main and featured fights in UFC 249 were Cejudo vs Cruz (not bad but always will be remembered by the questionable finish) and Ngannou vs Rozenstruik (always remembered by, well, Rozen getting Ngannou'd)

Rua vs Chuck still hurts to this day. I remember playing the UFC Undisputed 2009 demo incessantly when it came out for two reasons. Reason one: Holy shit, a good MMA game! Reason two: Repeatedly avenging Chuck's loss by beating up CPU Rua as him.

The funniest part of the Ortiz/Griffin fight was when they showed Eddie Bravos scorecard on screen. He scored it for Griffin and the crowd went wild thinking it was the official scorecard. Hence why they were doubly peeved when Tito got the win.
Many still think Griffin won the fight. Glad they ran it back two more times but I wish they were five round fights.
