A bit late, but you can download some high quality textures at quixels megascans free assets on their site. And you forgot about unity's book of the dead? It is amazing! But still, Very nice video!
Congratulations Sketch for the good work!
Could u do a tutorial about water reflex?
That would be great!

Thanks for making this video. Keep up with the good work! :)
Thanks I really appreciate it 😊
@@sketch3436 You will get more subs for sure. Btw, would you consider to run some tutorials about how to design a level. I know there are a lot of videos out there to show how to create a scene in 1 hour. But no one really explains what to do firstly, how and why. I know it would be a big topic. But some tips or short tutorials to cover one factor would be very helpful. Sorry about that I am kind of off the topic of this video. :)
@@LeeTGame I would like to do a game design video focusing more on how to position features to guide the player etc, although, this is as you said a large topic and I would first like to research more and perhaps if I can contact some smaller companies to how they go about design etc so that the video isn't just my biased view of how to layout a scene.
@@sketch3436 That's cool. No rush, just take your time. :)
Wow. Big thanks man! You saved the day.
Some prairie/open nature scenes would be great tutorials

you are so under rated bro............i hope you go long......(+1 from me)
btw i had a question.......how do you play in the set you've just created????like if you've created a forest then how do you travel in that????how do you make a response??
Thanks. In order to move around your scene you will need a character controller, Unity used to provided one for free but unfortunately, they have recently taken down that pack from the store, so, you'll have to create your own. Here is a good and simple tutorial to follow:
czcams.com/video/_QajrabyTJc/video.html
Hope this helps :D
This is awesome, what i was waiting for. Thank you very much for the effort. I never knew the standard assets package came with such environment sources, or the come separatedly? I couldn't get it clear that. I dont know what happen with the flooded grounds but i keep trying to download the package and it keept failing to finish the download, it simply stop the progress at some random point for no reason aparently. I certainly will take a look on all of those assets, look very good, thanks again.
All good, you were the one after all that made me make this video! Regarding Flooded Grounds, that does sound strange, perhaps a re-install of Unity would fix the issue 🤔. Good luck with your game 😊
Very cool and helpful video

I muted this and 2x ed it just to see the pretty pictures and I felt like I was watching an ENB/modpack preview for Skyrim.

I made the tree in blender. Just like you did the export process. When I export it to the Unity engine, black overlays appear on the frame of the leaves. How can I fix the appearance of the leaves. Can you help ?

I really find a big challenge with creating my game environment.
Yeah, environments can be challenging due to how large and detailed they can be. Is there any particular area that you find challenging, perhaps I can give you some tips?
@@sketch3436 I will be greatful for you to read your tips for sure♥️
Great video! These are realistic ones though. How about fantasy nature assets? I guess you could call them "lower poli".
Thanks, I really appreciate it 😊. Also thanks for the suggest I'll consider assets like that for my future asset videos
thanks bro greetings to you from Argentina
Best ever asset pack hit if you agree
Insane!
Very helpful thanks
thx a lot for dat helpful vid !
All good 😊
Are these free assets shown in the video usable commercially? What about just generally free assets from the store?
Yes, the assets in this video can be used in a commercial product since they are not marked as a "restricted asset" (this info is located on the asset page).
Here is a good overview of the policy:
support.unity3d.com/hc/en-us/articles/205623589-Can-I-use-assets-from-the-Asset-Store-in-my-commercial-game-
And here are the detailed terms and services:

Thank you!
Whenever I download and import the standard Unity assets on one of my projects it always have a compile error like the Unity GUI thing how do I fix this because I can’t use the play mode anymore.
That can sometimes happen if you do not install the entirety of the pack, usually, you can just delete these conflicting scripts and it will all work fine. However, if you do have the full pack installed you shouldn't be getting errors if you are maybe there was an issue in the initial import when stuff like this happens the easiest fix is to navigate to Assets > Reimport All. Let me know if this works :)
@@sketch3436 oh ok thx I'll try it out once i download Unity again i deleted because i cant use the play mode anymore because of the error i always get even if i didn't import an asset.
@@sketch3436 i forgot to mention that i cant delete the package
@@saymone962 Sounds that the issue is with Unity then, could you send me the error message so I can see exactly what it is saying
Sketch I don’t think I can send it to you since I already deleted Unity, once I download Unity again and If I still get the error I would send it to you but where should I send it?
For the game creation series here are some suggestions:
RPG,
FPS,
Battle Royale,
Thanks for the suggestions I would like to do an open world tutorial in the future which would go nicely with an rpg tutorial 😊
Yeah im currently working on an RPG and this will probably make it better 👍😊
@@susmitdas That's awesome to hear, I'm sure your RPG will be amazing 😃. Not sure when I'll release the video on that topic but it is on the list so it will be done eventually. If you are making an open world or if the terrain is just large in size, I would recommend getting on top of optimization as earlier as you can, the worse thing is making an awesome looking game that runs like crap.
If your new optimization techniques here are some key techniques you can look up:
- LODs
- Occlusion culling
- GPU instancing for materials
- Combing meshes into one mesh
- Making gameObjects static to utilise batching, light map baking etc
Thanks ur a lifesaver
Is the Unity software free? Do I need to buy any addons in order to start creating level design? Thanks
He's really good!
Did you forget book of the dead?
What is colliders and what is LODs?
Colliders allow objects to not go through other objects, they detect collisions. Whereas LODs (level of detail) is a component that can be added to a gameObject, where you can select different resolution of a model for different LODs (i.e. LOD0 is a high resolution mesh, LOD1 is a slightly lower, and so on), then the LOD group will keep track of the players distance from it and will swap out to different LODs depending on the distance, this process improves performance since your not constantly rendering a high resolution mesh.
Here are some documentation links
Colliders:
docs.unity3d.com/Manual/CollidersOverview.html
LODs:
docs.unity3d.com/Manual/LevelOfDetail.html
Hope this helps 😊
thankyou soo muchhh.........
Thanks you
Hey so im pretty new to all these things and i found this video very helpful. One question i have though is what a LOD system is?
A LOD (Level Of Detail) is a system that given different models will switch them out depending on the distance between the player and the gameObject. LODs are used for performance as higher detailed models are more costly than lower resolution models, therefore, you add lower resolution versions of a model into a LOD system so that as the player moves away the lower resolution model is rendered instead. A good LOD implementation will have many LODs and fade between at intervals that makes it difficult for the player to notice the transition between models.
In a LOD system LOD0 refers to the highest resolution, LOD1 the second highest resolution and so forth.
Here is a good video for how to set it up in Unity:
czcams.com/video/ifNyVS2_6f8/video.html
Hope this helps :D
Wow ok thank you so much that really does help. Im developing my game called "Monsters In The Woods" and this will definitely fix my lag issue.
Unity's Standard Assets seems not to be available anymore. Do you know, if there is any substitute? I couldn't find any :(
Yeah it stucks that they took it down, what aspects from the standard assets pack are you hoping to find replacements for, I might be able to point you to the right packs :)
@@sketch3436 i want water but standard assets aint workin on my 2019 version
And for the paid ones,
If its like you can only buy one or two assets, i would say invest in nature manufacture’s vegetation pack,,
For water i would dfntly recommend aquas :3
XD btw not saying this to u sketch :V you already have them probably,, and that’s really such a good collection of free assets,,,
Thanks for mentioning the paid assets zia azad I'm sure it will be helpful to some people reading the comments. Also, I totally agree with you, manufactura's assets are the highest quality I have ever seen on the Unity asset store. I've never used Aquas though, I've only ever used River Auto Material (R.A.M) 😊
Can i use free assets in my game which is made for selling purpose.
Do i need to modify them.
Or i can use them as it is
What's the best system for storing assets? Do you have like a root folder you holder everything then import individually into each project? I have Unity on my SSD and would like to store project files and assets on the HDD while still running/processing the program on SSD. Is this possible?
Do you mean storing assets externally from Unity or how to store assets that your using in your project?
@@sketch3436 I was curious as to how they're built in the project. Say I've got Unity on my c: drive, and I've got assets in one root folder on my d:drive. I import individual assets into my unity project. Finish the project, build it and store on my d: drive. So basically the project is just making a reference to my assets? And it will run on whichever drive I put the build on? I only have 400gb left on the ssd so I'm trying not to fill it up with assets and project files, curious what others' set up is like
@@LukeTeyler I don't think Unity will allow references to assets, everything that is in your project has to be within the 'Assets' folder of your project. This, in turn, means that your project can be located on any drive (including SSD) as all its dependencies and within a single root folder.
If you want to have your project run quicker than you'll have to place the entire project folder to the SSD.
Hope this helps :)
@@sketch3436 yeah that definitely helps! So I should develop/test on the ssd and once I've finished a project I should drag the entire project folder to a new drive and everything will stay in tact? Thanks so much for your help, loving the videos! You're doing CZcams right!
sir I want to make autumn scene
but I'm unable to find orange colored autumn trees
can you help me ?
This is the only autumn pack I could find for free:
assetstore.unity.com/packages/vfx/shaders/autumn-planet-pack-61186
However, what you can do is download any tree pack you like and edit the leaf texture in some editing program link Photoshop or paint.net (free) and change the hue to orange.
Hope this helps :)
I love you man ! You know some nice skybox ?
Thanks! 😊
Your best bet is going to be with larger packs the individual skybox assets generally aren't that good. 'Flooded Grounds' and 'Sun Temple', both by Sandro T come with nice animated skyboxes which you can also manipulate the tint colour allowing for you to make it look like night time or not. 'Free Island Collection' also has a good skybox. Hopefully, this is helpful, if I find any others I'll let you know😊
You are the best ! Thanks !

uhh where is the standard assets?
Hi there! Somewhat new to unity, what does LOD actually mean/do I’ve seen it around on my stuff but haven’t got a clue what they do ahaha
LOD stands for Level Of Detail. Essentially, it is just different resolutions of a 3d model, i.e. LOD0 would be a very high resolution (high poly count) model where it is very detailed and looks great, then LOD1 will be have less detail and so. A LOD Group then takes these different resolutions of the same model and switches them out in game depending on how far the player is from the model.
We do this for performance, if every model was super high quality then the computer would struggle to render the scene. Additionally, when an object is far away from the camera the player wouldn't be able to notice the small details so it is perfectly fine to switch in a lower resolution model, a good LOD Group setup is one in which the switching between different LODs is difficult to notice.
Hope this helps :D
Sketch ahhh yep yep thank you!! I thought it was something like that
Thanks a lot
All good, awesome to see that you enjoyed it 😊

Is Unity better than Unreal Engine 4?
I wouldn't be the best to ask as I have had far more experience with Unity than Unreal. I will say that Unity's interface is easier to learn than Unreal. If you don't know how to program Unreal is the better option as it has visual scripting, Unity doesn't have it yet, but it is coming in the future. Unreal also has more powerful graphics, however, yet again Unity is constantly improving their graphics and with each update, they are becoming closer and closer to the Unreal engines power.
Unreal engine is also more commonly used in AAA games, Unity is generally used more in an indie environment, so if you would like to eventually make a career in the AAA game industry it would be more beneficial learning Unreal.
This is a lot of info but to sum it all up both engines are great, I would suggest trying both for a week or so and just go with whatever one you feel most comfortable with.
Hope this helps, and good luck with whatever engine you choose 😊
Sketch that helped a lot!! Thank you so much for the info and tips!

I am making a game like PUB-G and i am adding here some animals....is it good idea!
Thanks 😊.
Animals would be a nice feature to add some greater interest to the landscape. It could also add extra strategy to a PUB-G like game since animals running away could indicate that there is another player nearby.
Not trying to discourage you. But try to make it not look like pubg. Make it new and interesting.
I wish I could download all of them but it would be like 100GB

free comersial ?
The Unity asset store license essentially states that all assets uploaded can be used commercially unless they are labelled as a ''restricted asset' (like the book of the dead assets etc). So I believe that these assets can be used commercially as none of them were labelled restricted. But as all legal stuff goes it's way more complicated so I cannot be certain. I have highest doubts for the Sandro T assets (Sun Temple & Flooded Grounds) as the quality is too high for free use, in my opinion, furthermore, it doesn't come with a license 😒.
So if you're serious with the creation and distribution of your game I would recommend emailing asset creators to be certain. Most creators have their contact details available on their profiles.
Sorry for the long reply but this is one of the topics where it can be difficult to get a clear answer. Regardless, hopefully, this helps 😊
