As a retired Marine with multiple Tours as a DI, The Coasties are right up therewith us as far as wearing recruits out. Nothing but respect for the Coast Guard.
You young folks are on your first steps in becoming heroes. Your first step was signing the enlistment papers. What you do will save lives. Signed. A salty sailor.
What kind of lane azz shlt are you saying
You were or are in the Navy ?

@subicstationditosailor4053
would you say coast guard is better or about the same ?
@ajax5467 If I had a chance to do it again, I would go Coast Guard. The Coast Guards' job is to help defend the coast of America and help US citizens. The Navy's job is to defend other countries. Deployments are extremely long, and the Navy is very undermanned. The Navy is under the defense department, and the Coast Guard is the Department of Homeland Security. Both give you the same retirement and VA benefits. Don't fall for the "see the world" line the Navy will give you. You will spend months and months at sea and even if you are in Port you will still have your duty days. What I am telling you is my opinion. Like I said, if I was going to do it again, I would join to help Americans, not countries with oil. After all that, I will say that my time in the Navy was the best time in my life.
Excellent branch of service! Long live our amazing US Coast Guard!
I’m sure it’s not part of their basic recruit training, but would enjoy seeing how our Coast Guard service men and women train for dealing with natural disasters, search and rescue, etc … Much respect for those who go out on missions to rescue those in distress.

Don’t get out
can remember watching the graduation parade about 60 plus years ago.
So much more advanced than when I went through. Hopefully they didn’t get soft. My old CC was a prior service Marine and they flouted rules on TAPS, weather and everything. Total mind f***. Loved it!
I agree, more advanced in the way they teach the things a new Coastie needs to know. I hear it's still pretty tough.
Fun Fact: The CG stopped allowing CCs to strike recruits just before I went through! Seriously.
I recall getting a boon docker to the ribs by a CWO while in the prone position on the range with the M1. “You’re tearing up my butts!” Good times.
I don't remember any of the "scenic coastal landscapes" as I was a little preoccupied. X-Ray 13, Dec 1970. Winter in Cape May is COLD!
yeah this video brought back an anxiety I haven't felt in awhile
I went to CG basic 1997. Got out in 2002. Went to college and then went Army Nurse Corps. Retired in 2022. All my Army years I think I had the most fun in the USCG.
There were "scenic coastal landscapes" in Cape May?
I know right…Feb 77.
It's looks tougher now than when I went through in 1989. We didn't do the obstacle course when I was in bootcamp. I don't remember as much in your face yelling either.
theyre smiling bc they know theyre about to have the good lift after they make it out
13:33 delgadooo that’s my man 🙈
That dang pool about killed me lol. It was alright swimming around but then to get up over that wall with no assistance. Blah I barely made it.
Since when do they do obstical courses
Really good training!

If I didn't mess up my knee in the Air Force I definitely would join the coast guard reserve
I forgot about the pen in sock 😂 I had an intent for weeks lmao
Theyre all so small looking, im going this year at 6ft5 230 pounds, imma get smoked as the biggest dude RIP Gonna learn how to dodge pipes and doorways.
bro im going the 19th see you there
When you shipped out?? I’m arriving the 2 of April
hey I'm 6ft4in 190 pounds and I was a wallflower all you gotta do is never give them a reason to know your name
@@boxxfort9187hell yeah bro me too see you there
@@kevinromero4207I'll be there on the 2nd also
Do they do the obstacle course in the winter too
It depended on what the flag condition that day was, Victor-204 didn’t get to, but I think Uniform-204 did!
What company was everyone? I was
yankee-195. My CC’s were ME1 Jarman, YN1 Lora, and SK2 Dockery

Bravo -196 lol ET1 Fortenberry, YNC Vanderjach, IS1 Piersol
I was injured in boot camp. I started in Lima Company, and finished in Papá Company. March 1980.
@danielmassey3157
WOW! What was boot camp like in Alameda? I’ve been on the base in the last few years but obviously not for training.
@SpecialEphXz I’m pretty sure I watched your company get off the bus! It’s been awhile but do you remember being at Yankee’s graduation? It was the first outdoor Grad of the season.
They didnt have all this crap when i was there . Yankee -182
Didn’t this video already come out
Yeah thought it looked familiar
It is definitely an older video. The ethos the company says at the end during the graduation was taken from what it was and shortened to like 3 sentences now. So this video is at least a couple of years old.
Which class was this??
Z-200. from a couple years ago. my company actually lol
@walkie870 First, thank you for your service. The reason why I was asking is because my daughter's childhood best friend just graduated a few months back.
i was there 1969
Do they drug test you when you get to basic? I'm stopping now but I feel like it'll be a good send off to get blitzed like a day or so before I go
Yes it’s one of the first things they do.
Yes they do. And they will frequently drug test you throughout your entire contract. Kiss those drugs goodbye boy.
You’re not going to get blitzed the entire time you are in. Don’t wage your time doing the application if you’re going to smoke because you will get kicked out.
Start drinking boy
@@Txdevilpup Idk if your being sarcastic or not lol
How come the instructor has to mouth off at these recruits? We never had it like this in the British Army.
Because in the U.S. other military branches make fun of the Coast Guard for being too soft. This appears to be the Coast Guard’s way of trying to change that stereotype.
Don’t know. I was too smart to ask them. Kept my ears open and my mouth shut. 1970-1991, USCG Ret.
Better than the ARMY, what a joke the ARMY is.
This military branch maybe small and unnoticed, but it is more professional and just better cleaner in comparison to the ARMY.
You didn't believe that crap as you were typing it...
@georgemaxwell3467 How would you know?, did you even experience the ARMY?.
@@garouuchiha4041I agree as a recruit trying to get into the CG and watching these videos the training for CG is top tier compared to army
@mlc3415 ....hmmm, tbh with you, the USA CG seems more easy, less aggressive because they aren't doing anything of war like training. The ARMY is more, I think that the USA CG only says that of it being hard like the USA marine corps is because it is just trying to motivate recruits and the public to join, just like how the USA AIR FORCE says that it's the toughest physical military branch but it isn't.
The ARMY is more physical than the USA CG due to war training preparations.
@garouuchiha4041 because I served from 1987-1994 that's how I know...
0:33 why they wearing masks?
Typically in reception they have masks, I think it's just to be sure that no one gets sick until they actually arrive to their training area.
@@tikslolo but they all take it off, while getting the hair cut… is this the new rituals of being “safe”?
@@grimsolace4433no i was in that scene and this was in 2021 when covid was still “a thing” so we were required to wear masks but we took them off for the haircuts so heart doesn’t get into then
@@yooavery5041hey man brother I ship out soon to basic how bad were those smokes session? And how long did they typically last?
@@jimmyhernadez6185they're not too bad if you're in decent shape. They are more stressful and repetitive.
Do they not do the gas chamber?
Coast Guard doesn't normally encounter gas like the other branches. Gas is usually used in warfare, and the Coast Guard does not go to war but instead defends the US on US soil (most the time).
No, coast guard boot camp does not have a gas chamber. However, at certain units you have to get OC sprayed
Damage Control A-school has a gas chamber since the DC’s are the CBRN experts.
Yeah gas chamber is only for DC’s since the majority of the service isn’t combat oriented. Mostly focused on firefighting and seamanship in CG boot camp
@@anthonyc7043 the coast guard doesn’t do gas chamber in boot camp but if you deploy to PATFORSWA in Bahrain, you do the gas chamber at SMTC in camp lejune.
