Went through in 1983. 3707 BMTS Flt. 147. Dorm B-4. SSgt. Roerig, Sgt. Cannon, SSgt. TSgt. Sleighter, TSgt. Markowitz, MSgt. Furey. I remember all of those names. One useful piece of advice for anyone getting ready to go. My father-in-law, a 22 - year MSgt, put me on the bus to BMT. The last thing he said before the door closed was "Keep your mouth shut and your tailgate up." It's good to see them doing combat moves with weapons and full gear. We didn't do that in BMT. We only did it in Security Specialist School.

Oh she's giving them pillow talk. SDI are and have to be chill when addressing the platoon of recruits. The screaming and intensity is what the DI are for. She has done her fair share up to that point. Being a guy trained on the island. Female DI were more intimidating in my book.

I could never be a DI. It does look like fun, but id be holding back laughter the entire time. I spent all of Basic trying not to get caught laughing at some of the stuff the DIs would do.

Waiting for Meps to transfer my paperwork from National Guard to Navy? How long does it take? Also, after i pass meps, can i choose to get sent out for basic, or is it still a waiting time?

I went through Army Basic Training at Fort Jackson SC in 1973. I can tell you that our Drill Sergeants would have been eating us alive if we didn't move our a$$es a whole lot faster than some of these people. They couldn't hit us, but they screamed every cuss word in the book at us and some that weren't in the book. We weren't allowed to walk in the company area and we ran to most training areas we went to in 97-99 ° heat. We stayed in old white wooden WWIl barracks, and only had a fan, no air conditioning. It was a good time for sure... we made it and looking back it made us tougher for sure!!

Boot camp had change I’m US navy retired 20 years but you have heart and soul to make it

I’m 5’4 weighing 182. Was told to lose 10lbs before I can do MEPS. Is there any advice I should take to heart? I’m currently working out as hard as I can. My dad was in Air Force and I would love to know how the process is. Thanks 😬

Yea, this is the G rated version, our MTI would Spartan kick the door open if the beds weren't made, if we weren't dressed to the uniform of the day and formed up on the wall 10 minutes later, we were properly f**ked the rest of the day.

One thing I can say I like about coast guard boot camp as opposed to BCT is that the civilians and permanent party are way more laid back always give encouraging words and tell their experiences when they went through it! The civilians in Army BCT are dickheads 😂
